The idea of the yoyo fits the theme well. A bit difficult because you can die with one projectile. Need some feedbacks for the yoyo (retractation, hits). The camera is a bit frustrating because we can lose sight of the player or/and the yoyo. I think that it will work better inside an arena with a fixed camera (like Binding of Isaac). Has a lot of potential, continue like that 👍

Really difficult but interesting mechanic and a great take on the theme! Would be good to have some audio/effect feedback when something hits and for when the yoyo can be retracted. Awesome job getting it done in under 3 hours

Game fits the theme well. Enjoyed manipulating the yoyo to hit enemies. Lost track of the recall function a bunch. First couple play throughs I ended up struggling to hit off screen enemies because I wasn't recalling the yoyo and couldn't get my camera where I needed to confirm hits.

The upgrades every so often were a nice touch, and the pace seemed decent. I did find that I would lose all my hearts to a single fireball at times, not sure if I misunderstood the fireballs being different from different monsters or not though.

Thanks for the feedback and for playing our game! I'll keep this in mind and fix the camera/yoyo functions soon. Also, the ghost (green) enemies do 3 damage, and the bat (purple) enemies do 1 damage but have 3 fireballs.

Very cool idea, lacks in feedback and instructions. Would maybe be more interesting with a physics yoyo or change the yoyo into something else.

Developer

Thanks for playing and for the feedback! I'll keep that in mind when updating the game; I definitely agree that those are some of the main problems so far with the game.

Very cool! Love the mechanic doing 2 things at once and that its so physics driven -m y only issue was the yoyo wouldnt rewind super well? maybe there is a timer but it wasnt clear why it wasnt rewinding sometimes. I also think the structure you have gone for - waves and upgrades is a perfect match for this game

I think there's potential for something cool here, I'm just calling out  a few things I think can help if you were to work on this further

  • Cleaning up the environment a bit, so enemies and the player stand out more
  • Having enemies spawn in always at a minimum distance around the player, I sometimes had people spawn on the location I was at
  • Add a line to the yoyo so its visual where it is when it goes off screen
  • Feedback and effects to enemy spawning, dying, rewinding the yoyo
  • Maybe the yoyo can have physics and collider with obstacles in the real world ? Maybe this also spins you around? Something to explore

I had fun and see potential for something bigger here so I wanted to make sure you knew!

Developer

Thanks for playing and for the feedback! These are all helpful suggestions that will probably be added soon. Also if anyone is wondering for future reference, the yoyo rewind feature had a cooldown but I didn't make UI for it or explain, and the upgrade for reducing the cooldown is regarding that; sorry for the confusion. Thanks again for the extensive feedback.
