I am so sorry I didn't get to play this before the jam ended. This was a ton of fun, very nice ideas and great gameplay. My only comment about this is on the aiming, it may be due to my cursor speed being high but sometimes I'd move to aim and the camera would freak out. I am very much looking forward to seeing where this project goes.

Very cool game but I found it very hard. I guess it is more fun with others playing at the same time (and that is hard to achive, I  made a realtime multiplayer game for a jam once and that was hard to get people to test it at the same time). Anyway, I get a bit lost with the controls  and I might have managed to eat some creatures but I am not sure. The settings of the screen hid the edges on the left and right and i couldnt get them to show, even in windowed mode. Maybe there is some feedback there that i can not see?

Impressive though with a multiplayer and i really like the graphics.

Hi, thanks for giving the game a play! Yea, unfortunately I left the controls inverted when I submitted the game so most people will probably have a hard time with them. I was hoping a multiplayer game would encourage more people to play the game, but I guess it does make sense for this kind of thing to have not worked out as well. The only info on the left to be shown would be the growth meter and leaderboard, not sure if thats what you were missing.

Unfortunately I was a bit clueless in regards as to what to do.

I figured that right click paused the game and explained the controls a little and left click appeared to be some sort of boost.

I was able to move around and bump into things, but couldn’t ‘grow’ or progress somehow.

Overall the game is presented well visually, with nice UI and some good sounds and it’s only a little step away from being a game like experience as most of the work is done.

After posting this I checked out the itch page and figured out how to play, collecting the green items, so I played again. It was difficult to collect these as often I would just miss them, as it’s difficult to gauge where you are in relation to them. I managed to grow the character into the next stage (pink).

Hi, thanks for giving the game a play. Unfortuantely, I didnt have much time to create a tutorial, but the premise is to consume creatures of the same size or smaller than your wyrm. The growth bar, as well as, the wyrms colors indicate what color of creature you can consume. For example, the starting color is green, meaning the only creatures you can consume are the green ones, until you grow to a new color.

After the voting ends, Ill be uploading a new file that will have many fixes and updates. I hope you will give it another try then.

Hey I’ll give it another try for sure. I’m planning on doing something similar to our project also.

So, I could not get this to work or understand what was happening.
I tried to get it working for two players, but it didn't work.
The sound effects sounded like I was picking stuff up and hitting stuff, despite nothing being on screen.
I thought I picked up a bunch of the green things, but the game says that I didn't
And it was a bit hard to control.

I really like how the game looks. I think you did a great job creating a game and a style with four colors that doesn't feel like you compromised anything by only using four colors.

It's a decent start to a cool game, I think that it needs some polishing. And I would say trying to focus on a better single player experience could be good as well.
And if you want to completely rework the entire game. I think this could work as a cool underwater exploration kind of game instead of an arcade like game. But that would be reworking what the game is about.

One other thing is that when you click play game, it freezes for a bit. I can assume this is the game loading the main game scene. I would recommend having some kind of fade out from the title screen and fade in into the main game to hide this loading.

Overall, cool looking game. Just wish either it worked, or I understood what was happening.

Hi, thanks for giving the game a play. Im not sure why you were having the issues you had, as it has ran fine for me and many of my friends. How were you trying to play with a friend if I may ask? Were you on two seperate computers or trying to play on one? If you were trying to play on a single computer that would be the problem, as this game is online multiplayer and requires each player to play on their own device. Thats my only thought, for the bugs you had.

Aside from that, it definitely still needs some polish. Once the voting ends ill be uploading a new file that will have a lot of fixes and updates, so hopefully you will give it another try then.

Loved the artstyle but found it awkward to control  Love the concept just please try to fix the control other than that loved it

Developer

im glad you loved it! Yea unfortunately i forgot i had set the controls as inverted and never switched them before uploading the game lol. After the game jam ill have a updated version with fixed controls and a more complete game.

I can’t run the game on my Linux machine :(

I tried to open it with wine and proton, but it just says “path not found”. Also it’s odd that your .exe is called “multiplayer tutorial”

Developer(+1)

Sorry to hear you weren't able to run it on Linux. I'm not very familiar with Linux, but I know I wasn't able to make a Linux build prior to submitting the game. I also, forgot to change the project name from "multiplayer tutorial" to the game name, as a I had followed a tutorial on getting netcode for game objects setup in the game.

Submitted(+1)

Yeah, that’s alright. I’m gonna try again today, but running it through steam as a “non-steam” game. It worked for some jam submissions.

Your game looks real cool tho!

Submitted

Hey I managed to run it, I just needed to add it to my heroic games launcher. It actually looks great and the atmosphere is awesome. One trouble I’m having is figuring out the game. Idk what I’m to collect and what to avoid, and the controls are really hard to get used to

Developer

oh nice, im glad you were able to play it. Yea the controls are inverted, something i forgot to change before uploading. The goal is to eat creatures and grow. The color of your wyrm shows what kind of creatures you can currently eat.

Submitted(+2)

The graphics were pretty interesting. Very glowy and definitely felt like I was under water.

I had some difficulty with the controls tho. I’m on Mac and played via Parallels which may be the cause? But it felt like I couldn’t go in the direction I was trying to.

But the concept is sound and I could see it being fun to play with a group! Kinda agar.io-like

Developer(+1)

Thanks for giving it a play! I forgot i had the vertical input inverted and i never changed it or incuded the option to change it, so thats probably why it was hard to control 😅. Its definitely more fun with friends, cuz eating eachother and ruining peoples progress is always delightful haha
