Such a fantastic entry! The art and color palette are perfect- they have a great grunge, early-2000s vibe. The clans are interesting, the story is fun to follow, and the expositions aren't too long. The camera for the map is a little cumbersome, but that would be a pretty easy fix. It felt like this could be expanded further upon and turned into a longer game- I wish it was!
Loved this! Beat it on my first try as a Malk and hit ancilla by day 9 and overthrew the Prince. I think the gameplay is unique, almost like a city-builder mixed with something of a resource-management sim. I would love to see more games like this, honestly! I can certainly see myself going back to play the other clans.
If there's another vtm jam and the possibility of a sequel, my only suggestions would be...
1. More clans! I would have loved to play another game jam game where I could have been a Camarilla Tzimisce. Malk and Gangrel are usually my next best choices, though.
2. Longer game, more events! I thought the random encounters were a lot of fun, but they dry up towards the last leg of the game. I had about 5 or 6 unique events before the Anarchs came knocking. Which is fine, but I rarely found myself engaging with the blood bank after I finished the events in the forest, and only had about two events with The New Asylum. I also believe once you finish all the sheriff's jobs, he keeps asking you to come back the next night. And the next one. You get it. Otherwise, I got a number of coterie members (including a Tzimisce! Yay! Now I just want to play as one). Also, a ghoul. Which was nice!
3. Character customization. Maybe use the basic v5 sheets, like how vtmb used the sheets for character levels back in the day. Also, the option to choose your character's name, gender identity/sex, and portrait. To keep things simple, one could look to early Fallout for inspiration.
Otherwise, I think that about does it. Thank you for making such a cool, fun game for the vtm jam!!
This was great. I only can agree with the others, that this felt like a whole finished game. It was fun, looked well and had interesting events. The only thing that a bit annoyed me was the fast happening events. Every time I wanted to place a coterie member some event interfered. Also I could use disciplines me or my coterie members didn't have. Specificaly Dominate and Protean. Also my ghoul was able to make another ghoul. Sometimes the decisions are only able to use by the character and sometimes it seems it takes the disciplines of the whole coterie in account. I don't know was a bit strange.
First off, thank you for playing Praxis! Id like to know if you can remember the events where you could use Dominate and Protean when you didn’t have them. I’ll see about bug fixing those. The decisions are character based, I might have forgotten to add the correct condition modifier(s) to the Discipline option.
Nevermind, I am just too new to V5 and didn't know all discipline changes till now. Didn't know Tzimis have now Dominate and Protean and in the game I couldn't see what which symbol meant. :'D Sorry, all good then.
Hi! the concept is great as I mentioned before. 4x games are usually too intimidating to me, but this was easily approachable and pretty fun. The art was also pretty good and the coding was slick! everything looks smooth and polished, no weird pops or music breaks or anything like that. It feels FINISHED.
Some thing we could work on:
- I think everything happens too fast and it's a little too spammy. When I play something like this I think of Starcraft. I send my worker to build something and I have time to look around the map, control my other units, or even just wait. This should feel like an army simluator, but in some cases it feels like a single character game because I have to babysit the same dude until he's done with all his dialogue options.
- I didn't even notice hunger or health, to the point where I never managed them and was able to finish the game easily. Maybe more notifications on what is going on with those effects or more serious consequences would be nice.
- There is very little tension overall... for example, why would I say "no" to any of my recruits? there is no tradeoff and I didn't navigate through dialogue options to feel like I earned it. Going back to RTS games, there's always a trade off if you want more stuff: you have to build another base to have enough resources, you have to keep your population low or they start eating too much food, things like that. I'd like to feel like I'm making a choice when presented with a recruit.
- The game can get a little droning towards the end... I'd add little "mobile game" flair like a sound effect when your dudes make money, and a big, long sound effect or text popup when you finish a night. I didn't even notice nights half the time! "oh, I guess I've been here for 12 nights" :P
- I found some typos, don't remember exactly where but I did write down the characters: Typos in conversations with Abdulah, Ina, Hendrik, lone girl smoking, and Makawee.
The game is really good, and shows great potential! for the me the biggest issue was the lack of tension. At no point did I feel like I could lose, even with vampire hunters running all over the place. Also, I'd love to know more about Portland through the dialogue.
Thank you so much for playing Praxis! I wish I had more time to work on the balancing and make it just all around better. But I’m really proud of what I was able to do with the short time frame. I’ll give a look through for those typos and fix them up. I wish I had more time to add more content and expand more on the hunters and Anarch war to introduce more of that challenge you mentioned. But I’m still really happy with where everything landed.
Even though I did not finish the game yesterday and it is a shame that there is no option to save and continue later I enjoyed it very much, besides minor polish issues like the brightness of some colors or visibility of hover effects over buttons, this is a pretty neat complete game with a lot of references, maybe there could have been a little more V5 lore (can´t say for sure ´cause I did not finish the game)
For sure there are a little balance and convience things that could be better as well but it is a huge accomplishment to get that far in a month.
You did a great job, I really recommend playing your game =)
Reminded me a lot of some old boardgame style video games. A good little strategy game although I end up with way to many people to anything with. I just had half a dozen or more members just sitting on the board do nothing. I also never did earn up to buy that swimming pool before becoming prince. I'm sure it would have a nice pool as well.
I would like to have been able to zoom out. It was annoying to have to scroll around the map while dragging especially when I was look for where the latest location I unlocked had appeared. Also I felt I wasn't really using my people effectively. Some way of seeing who would be most effective to send to location before hand would have nice.
Thank you for playing my game! I did want to tell you that you can zoom out by using the scroll wheel. I’ll look into reducing the price of the pool and see if that can balance some things out. Thank you for leaving your input.
Played about 15 mins and i really enjoyed moving my characters around the city and doing story based rolls. Only found 1 bug where the game gave me the option to feed using presence when i was a Tremere :) 10/10

The game was a lot of fun! The random events were interesting, and finally taking praxis was very satisfying. *thumbs up*
This game is great. Love the rpg-strategy mix and the events are interesting. I only miss a save option. Great work!
Thank you so much!
I adore the way this game looks.

Found the bug you mentioned and fixed it up! Thank you for catching it.
