I had a hard time with the jumps, cuz like the walls had friction I think. Also, when the player turns purple, the right and left controls switched - Idk if that's just a feature rather than a bug.
otherwise, my rating was quite high because of the handdrawn art and story. I just loved it :)
The control switching was intentional because the frog was dizzy and I wanted to add a bit of extra challenge. Thanks for the feeback!
Nice job on this! The hand-drawn art had real charm to it, and there were a ton of different mechanics to learn, especially for a 72 hour jam. The controls were a bit weird for me to get to grips with (I wanted to jump with W and shoot with Space), and I died a couple of times trying to shoot the bosses before I figured out what was going on. Fun music and a good amount of content to play. Good work!
If you guys are curious I am making an after jam version. New worlds, fixed bugs and other things! Stay tuned!
the most fun game I have played in this jam so far, 5 stars! the childish art style is almost bad but in a way it ads to the charm and unique character of the game
Wow I actually really love this game. There is a good variety of mechanics and powerups, and the bosses are great in how they make you predict their movements and use powerups you've gotten before.
I especially love the visuals and music!! They give this game such a unique and charming personality that I can't say many other games have. The story + cutscenes are also cool, and they help frame the gameplay well and remind me of the Binding of Isaac.
There are two easy bugs you could fix though. One is that you get stuck on the sides of walls. Make sure the physics material on the colliders don't have any friction. And another is that the projectiles you shoot are treated as the same tag/layer as the player, so e.g. if you shoot at lava, you die.
Thanks for the feedback! I'll make sure to fix those bugs in the after jam version!
This is so incredibly charming! The visuals and overall aesthetic is so childish and innocent, but I love it and found myself getting very attached to the character.
The controls are a bit wonky (I kept wanting to press space to shoot when purple), but I really like the amount of different mechanics you've managed to fit in this small game.
I was surprised to see a boss fight that actually utilised the mechanics learned up to that point, and then was EVEN MORE surprised when I was thrust into a whole bunch more levels afterwards that introduced more mechanics.
Great work, genuinely.
Your frogs are adorable! That first boss was a surprising challenge after the first few levels. Awesome job!
Nice game. I played it to the end. Nice intro and outro. There is a bug in 'physics', we can get stuck on wall while maintaining the key pressed (but it's not a big deal). Boss fight are welcomed, and change the pacing in a good way. Great job.
This is absolutely insane in the best way! I have no idea how you made such a long game in 3 days. I mean there are 2 boss fights and cut scenes. Wild. Really great job on pretty much everything. The only thing that I didn't love was that the bosses were super unpredictable but I'm not sure if that maybe just adds to the theme cause you kind of have to fail the boss fight a few times to learn how they work. My favourite thing about this game is how much personality it has. Your sense of humour really comes through and I'm not sure how intentional it is but it really makes this a charming game. Your mum is right. This is cool.
