Interesting game, but I can see that you bit off a little more then you could chew.

But your definitely really creative for your game ideas, so keep going as you have a lot of potential to make some amazing games :)

I like the visuals and the concept, but I just think the idea might have been out of scope for the time frame we had. The game does have potential though, it would just need some reworking and a bit longer of a timeline. Next jam I'd definitely suggest keeping it simple and REALLY fleshing that simple idea out to the max. Keep working!

I hate to say it but I don't think there is much of a game here.

I was able to beat the game but I can't help but look back a little confused. Somehow I glitched four carrots out of the two holes instead of the usual two.  Despite that, that is the least of your problems.

To begin with, the game is very lacking. There is very, very little to do. The game has a lot of empty possibility space and so little to do that it all comes down to walking between three basic tasks. All you have to do is just bomb a "zombie hater," grow some carrots, trade for bombs, and that is it.

The premise for the game is very weird and doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Sure, lots of games out there have plots that make zero to little sense but at least they are engaging in some way.

I'm not sure what happened during development but I think what happened was that you had an idea for a much bigger game but you didn't have time to fix all the bugs or add everything you wanted so you ended up cutting out a lot of content. We all have to make sacrifices during development (me and everyone else in this jam included) but it looks like you took a harder hit.

If I have any suggestions for you for any game jams in the future, I would say this... It is not always bad to keep games simple, but it can be bad to have no depth. Keep you premise simple, your scope small, expand on it, and polish it through.

yaeh you're right, the game is nothing like i imagined it to be. i joined the jam a little late and almost didn't upload it before submissions were up because i had trouble exporting the game. it was my first gamejam, but it was a hell of an experience, so i think i know what to do and not to do next gamejam i join. thanks for your comment :)

Ayy, I was able to beat this one. There is some frustrating RNG at play here for sure, but not a bad game at all.

A lot of the time, the first batch of carrots takes so long to spawn and the bombs are so far away that you usually lose a life before you even have the ability to get bombs. Maybe starting off with a bomb would help alleviate that, but there's probably a more elegant solution.

The bomb mechanic is also pretty obtuse. You need the guy to be super close to the zombie, but not too close or you lose a life. It's also just a strange concept in general. Why does bringing carrots to a plot of land give me bombs? Why don't I or my zombie daughter get hurt by the bombs? If this zombie hunter wants to kill my daughter, why does he bump into her once and then leave to the other side of the map?

The concept of having a resource that needs to be used to win, but also to keep yourself alive is good. I also like the idea of having to keep check on your zombie daughter as you're waiting for resources to become available. I think this could have been more fun, however, with a smaller map and more frequent attacks. As of now, the primary gameplay loop is to keep moving back and forth between the carrot screen and the zombie screen, but if everything was on a single screen, it'd be more frantic to have to constantly juggle between planting carrots, trading for bombs, and defending your zombie.

Quite an enjoyable game overall. Great job and thanks for making it!

I tried to understand how to play it as best I could, but it was tough to do it.

The map maybe is too big, the font is pleasant to see, but hard to read, and the field for the carrot I don't understand why there are only 2 spots. Also, I really love that there is a tutorial. :)
