We liked that you used yogs audio! Also really cute pixel graphics.

(also thanks for the linux build!)

Developer

I thought nobody would use the linux build but now we are top in linux games haha thanks for the rating!

Fun digging game, my favourite quote: "I dont mean to be racist"

4.2/5 yogstars

Make sure to check out my team's game. :)

Developer(+1)

Haha yeah I think my favorite is "I might play a bit of wow" cause I feel it just fits so perfectly.

This is a nice game! I love the Yogs audio bits, love the style, a bit hard to control when you literally become speed, but all in all, it's a great game!

Developer

Thanks for the input, yeah the sound bytes were an early idea that became one of our favorite ideas.

Very cool little digging game. Great art. Great sounds and yogs references. Great job!

Developer

Thanks!

A really nice little digging game! Fun, if a bit easy, and with great pixel art.

Developer

Thank you for your review, I put a lot of work into the art, so I'm glad you liked it.

Man the audio is a bit crazy haha
In all seriousness this is a fun little digging game, though I felt like Simon ran too fast to be easily controlled when trying to get back to the surface. Still fun though! Well done :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the input, maybe if we continue to work on it post-jam we'll change it up a bit.

Absolutely adore the art style, really well designed. Love the Yogscast references everywhere. Took me a while to figure out which button and item did what and it was tough that you had to memorize which button was which tool. Great job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you.  We wanted an in-game control layout UI but didn't have enough time.

Time is the bane of most games, don't worry about it! The final product was great, still!

A really fun game. Very on-theme both for the GameJam and for the Yogscast in general. Some digging sound effects would have been the icing on the cake. I also think the unbreakable blocks were too similar to the background colour and so were almost invisible. I loved the way the digging sped up as you levelled and eventually you could just power effortlessly through tonnes of dirt. Overall really, really good!

Developer

Thank you for the review. Glad you enjoyed it.

Loved it a lot. Good one.

A fun game! The controls were took a bit to get used to, But! once i got my head around the idea that IJKL mimics WASD for dig direction they were amazing! Such a clever idea!

Please check out my teams entry!

DIGGY DIGGY HOLE! Beautiful game, finished tasks with 30s left. I got stuck on a few walls but even still, my favourite game of the jam so far.

CONGRATULAAAAAAAAATIONS

Developer

Thank you very much, I'm sure with a few more hours we could of got rid of those bugs haha

Thank you, glad you enjoyed it.

Great game! Really enjoyed the gameplay on this one and I think it was well done all around!

Developer

Thanks for the rating, glad you enjoyed!

Gameplay was solid, soundclips were hilarious.

Developer

Thank you.

Really liked the gameplay - and the levelling system was nice. Just think it would be nice to have the controls in the main game as well - I forgot that you could place ladders. Apart from that, great work!

Developer(+2)

Thank you! Yeah we wanted a control menu but ran out of time haha.

Submitted(+1)

Fun short game! I had some trouble figuring out the controls, as I missed them on the start screen, but that's mostly my own fault. I'm not sure what the second tool was, though I figured out it dealt with chickens. The only real gameplay problem I had was with jumping, as the game didn't always respond well to my space keypresses.
The music was nice and the sound clips gave it a fun extra touch. Big plus for Linux version!

Developer(+1)

Of course can't forget linux haha! Did you use linux to play it?

Submitted(+1)

Yes, I played it on Linux (Ubuntu 19.10) and it ran well!

Developer(+1)

Good to know, glad linux support for games has improved. Honestly didn't think anyone would use it haha.

Submitted(+1)

Great game! Gives me motherload vibes. The controls are a bit uncomfortable to use though.

Developer(+1)

Thank you, the last time I played motherload was like 8 years ago. It's a good game. Wait... is it in flash? Do we only have one month left to play it? oh my.. oh my...

Things I liked:

I thought the voice clips were very cool additions to the game and your game definitely had a lot of very good "feel" to it. Mining felt fun to do, and gave good block feedback when hit. There was not a moment in your game where I wasn't immensely amused by everything going on.

Things that could be better: Your box colliders could use a bit more work, I found myself falling into the cracks quite a few times. In addition, you should consider having the controls be displayed on the main screen as well. As soon as I left the menu, if I wanted to go back to the start I would need to restart the whole game.

Overall I got to say I was pleasantly amused as soon as the game started and I greatly enjoyed the experience. For the first game I have played this jam this is off to a great start!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the detailed review, a control menu was always something we wanted but we ran out of time :(
