pretty cute art, I love the animations. A little bit short but surprise was there, though it was triggered a little often. Thank you for the linux release!

Developer

Thank you!
The surprise might have a little too high chance (think I set it to 20%), I just wanted it to at least trigger once for the tutorial level (which was the only level I had time for). It was developed on Linux, so that was the default release! :)

Concept is fun and cute, don't liked the sound effect but the music is sooo UwU

Developer

Thank you!
The sound effects were on the top of my list to change (I think they're too harsh), but I didn't have time.
Maybe I'll get around to changing them after the jam.

I like the concept and the 8-bit artsyle of the game.

The idea of a bunny digging to reach a goal is cute and endearing.

Mechanic-wise I find the controls simple and easy to follow while the surprise mechanic of can be fleshed out to perhaps a random chance event rather than just a character that suspends your movement for a few seconds.

Developer

Thank you very much!
The random "tomte" event when you break a block is something I would have liked to improve, since what happens now is the bunny moving and jumping randomly and you can't control anything, but very often the bunny gets stuck running into a wall, which is not that great.
I'm glad you liked it!

Really liked it even though it was just a concept, sounds and bunny animations fit really well :)

Thank you!

The bunny sound is soooo adorable! It's a small game but it is well done and cute :)

Thank you very much!

Cute buns and mean elfs(?), music and sound is nice, would've liked some more levels though :)

Developer

Thank you! The "elfs" are tomtar (kind of gnomes) that appeared in the game Röki that Briony played recently.
I definitely would have liked to make some more levels, as the only level there is now is basically a tutorial level.
Glad you liked it!

I liked this game's cohesive sense of style and I agree that this level could very well be a nice tutorial level. I liked the various animations you had for the bunny, and I got a screenshot of him poppin a bit of a wheely after jumping against a wall and running the other way, it's definitely a bit of a bug but it was kind of endearing lol

Thank you very much!
I'd like to extend the game at some point with real levels, as the current level is, as you point out, more of a tutorial and not a challenge at all.
The panic state is meant to be quite random, so it can get quite crazy and there are some movement bugs I didn't have time to fix, but it can make for some fun chaos. :)
I'm glad you liked it!

The music and art are very good, though the gameplay gets a bit repetitive pretty quickly

Developer

Thank you! I'm not a graphics artist, so I'm very happy with how it turned out.
The level design was done in a minute near the end, so it's more of a tutorial. With more work I'd like to add real levels that are actually a bit of a challenge.

The buns are so stinking cute! And the music is very relaxing.

Developer

Thank you very much! That was the pretty much the main goal of the game (and learning how to use Unity). :)

Heya!

Visual

It's visually pleasing but the ground has a weird texture, and it's sad without colors (it's more of a personal preference though).

Sound

The BGM feels a bit like Undertale imo, I liked it. I didn't like the digging sound though :(

Tutorials

The game says what you have to do, and you probably won't miss the central part. The text on the top right may be missed though, I didn't see it at first, and if you're not used to WASD, it may feel like "how am I supposed to move?"

No explanation on what you can and cannot dig though. I figured it out myself, but I'm a bit stupid and tried it anyway for too long thinking "maybe if I try harder..."

Gameplay

  • A bit slow but the idea behind the gameplay is nice, digging your way to your objective. Not awesome but it works well
  • The surprise mechanic is interesting, but it feels a bit too random and unavoidable imo.

Fun

It rapidly became repetitive and as I didn't like the surprise mechanic, I was just hoping not to encounter it to rapidly see what happens when I find the bunny. Definitely not too bad but fun only a few minutes.

Bugs

The bunny is shaking ferociously when digging, and sometimes can't even dig.

You can jump and start digging one , but it doesn't work, you're just flying.

Theme

Definitely in the theme :)

Thank you for the game, it was still a pleasing experience

Thank you for the review!
The limited colours is because I was using Gameboy (pocket) colours to give a specific feel to the game.
The sound effects were quite rushed, I would have liked to make them softer, but still with the same retro feel.
Perhaps an extra animation for trying to dig in impassable blocks could help with knowing which blocks to dig through, but there wasn't time during the jam, nor for any kind of menu.
I'm sorry you didn't like the tomte, it was (like other parts of the game) an influence from Briony's streams.
Glad you still enjoyed it!

Very cute. The music and the art are lovely, feels like a very polished tutorial level. I'd definitely support a full game of this

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much! I haven't really worked much with Unity before and I'm not really an artist, so I'm happy with how it turned out in this limited time. With more time I would like to make actual levels with puzzle elements.

Cute. Bonus points for a linux port, but the controls are bugged. Won’t stop trying to go to the left.

Developer

Thank you! I developed it on Linux, so the Linux version was the default for me.
I'm not sure why the controls are bugged for you, they work for me both on Linux (Ubuntu 19.10) and Windows.
What platform did you run it on?
