Really unique idea and quite challenging too! I think maybe it will be better if the spike can be smaller. ^_^
thanks for the bug find i fixed the game and updated it and fixed some other stuff now can finish all the levels
Man, this it tough! I think it would be really helpful if there was some warning of when the controls will change, otherwise it's a bit frustrating. I like the idea of the controls swaps, but they don't need to be that surprising haha
As you mentioned in the discord server it was hard to see what you were doing in development, similarly it's hard to see what's happening while playing! Not impossible obviously, but I think more contrast would feel/look nicer.
Well done though :)
I'm not big on platformers but I'm more just annoyed that there's no real build up to the jumping, just it starts with a dark character on a dark background with dark elements and then you have to get your character over a big spike jump. I managed to make it over the spike but then fell into the trap immediately. It feels less forgiving than flappy bird D:
i fed your monster and then it flatlined ok lol
Did you click "ready?"
why did a freaking human come out the egg lol
I'm pleased you've figured out one result :3 I've made sure in the text on the page now that people should click "ready" once the egg is ready to hatch. Thanks for the feedback! I thought you were kidding around with the death stuff before haha
I hate it so much but its so good lol

First of all, good effort! You made a game! I don't want you to forget that and not be proud of your work!
Stop reading here, if you are happy with that! However, if you want some honest feedback...
There are a lot of issues that I have with this. First, it is very very hard to see what is going on. There is not enough contrast between the game objects and the background and, well, everything really.
I gathered that the 'gimmick' of the game is that the controls keep changing in surprising ways? It is really frustrating to play and again, very hard to tell what's going on -especially when you are in places with long stretches of bare ground since you can't tell if you are moving and in which direction. I would have given more indication of how the player is moving, maybe even give a warning when the swap is about to happen (a 3, 2, 1 countdown or something)... or I probably would have tried a less-frustrating gimmick to the game...
It is very important to always give the player clear and actionable feedback in order to create a fun gameplay experience... I hope you can look at this as a learning experience and keep making games with these things in mind!
brutal but helpful lol
This is the most annoying game in the universe but I really like it! Building up all this momentum, then BAM! a switch throws me into some spikes. I did snag on the scenery occassionally but I was grateful for it as it saved me more than once. I got as far as the level with the really fast horizontal platforms but the flag at the end didn't seem to work. Good job overall! Would love to see this game expanded upon.
i know about the flag bug i am going to update the game soon to fix it
Cool idea, like the art style, it's fun
Never seen a game made with GDevelop before. Looks interesting.
Good job!
We both made platformers, called switch, with randomly inverted controls.
what really?!?!?
lol
This is a great game with a great concept. It angers me but I think that's the point. Could use some sound though.
Nice job, I think the level design was p well thought out and the difficulty is refreshing if a bit enraging lol. Only issue I see is sometimes you just slide backwards if you're standing on the edge of a block and just nudge the controls. Not a huge deal though, didn't affect too much of the play once I got used to it!
Smooth movement!
thanks it took me an hour to get working how i wanted
level 4(?) is surprisingly hard. But a great take on the surprise theme.
thanks!
I like it, very cool. I'm not very good at it though lol.
Please check out my submission if you get a chance: https://itch.io/jam/yogscast-game-jam-2020/rate/844899
I'm so bad at this game lol. Nice concept, would be a fun/frustrating full game - maybe a sound indicator when the controls switched would be good?
Also I reached the top block and nothing happened, was there anything more to do after that?
no it was a bug i fixed it now
Ah! I got tricked the first couple of tries. I didn't realize the controls were changing. You're getting much better at art Malek, it's been super cool to see you grow! Another frustratingly hard title with a fun reward!
thanks!
Neat game. It took a few seconds to realise that the settings were swapped and you had to change Left and Right but after that it worked pretty well. I managed to get to the level were the spikes close in on you at which point I rage quitted after the 50th time :D
But I guess it tells something that I managed to make it till this point and tried it 50 times. A little tutorial would have been nice but since there weren't lots of mechanics also not really necessary. The low contrast was already mentioned and apart from that I would only say that it is a small but neatly put together game. Congrats! :)
Thank you! i will play your game soon
Would love a higher contrast version, was kind of hard to see on my monitor.
lol i will be sure to play your game
