Super tricky game, requires more advanced tactics than i have the sense or dexterity for! xD  would benefit a lot from power ups, or a charge slam,or doing more damage dropping from a greater height.  Awesome work!!

Developer

Thanks for the thoughtful feedback, I think the idea of extra damage from height would definitely work. And thanks for playing on stream, I really enjoyed it!

Enjoyed this! A proper retro game :D Challenging but not frustrating + great sound & style.

Developer

Thanks for the kind words!

"A proper retro game :D" - Yeah, I decided to go for deliberately ugly Spectrum-style graphics as it seemed the easiest style to pull off convincingly in such a short period of time!

Great style! It reminds me of Downwell. The random level generator can be rather punishing at times, but depending on design goals that doesn't have to be a bad thing.

Developer(+1)

Thanks, Downwell was definitely on my mind as I was making this - I love the way that game takes a basic part of the platform gameplay and turns it into something else, and that's what I was trying to do as well. The level generation could definitely use some refinement. Cheers!

Are the levels randomly generated? It's cool that they seemed different every time, but I didn't feel like there were many opportunities to actually crush enemies or drop them in lava. Also a system with multiple lives might be nice, it feels pretty brutal to die so easily. I like the idea though, and as others have mentioned the game has a good look and feel :)

Developer(+1)

Yeah, the levels are built out of randomly  chosen chunks. With more time I'd have put a lot more effort into refining the design of  the chunks, and you're completely right about the lack of opportunities to crush enemies. Thanks for the comment!

It's too hard for me. Music is good. Gameplay interesting  and most importantly the smash effect for the player is super duper cool.

Developer

Yeah, it's pretty tough - my own high score is only 30.  Thanks for playing it!

As Mark said, not sure it fits but I like your explanation so I'll give (heh) you a pass. You should've just called the game "Giving Way" and you'd have been fine! :P

As for the game itself, I quite liked it. I think the platforms could've been a little 'weaker' to keep the tempo higher, but I liked the mechanic and the simplicity of the controls. The music was great and very suitable, too.

Developer

"Giving Way" is a MUCH better title. Cheers!

Not really sure if the game fits the theme but it was fun nonetheless! It reminded me of Downwell with its dual purpose mechanic. Good Job!

Developer

The platforms are GIVING way as you stomp them. Yeah, it's a stretch.

Thanks for the reply!
