It is very similar to Jump King. An one level platformer where you need to reach the top.

Graphics looked good and the mechanics of bouncing off objects from jumping worked well. I haven't played Jump King before so this felt pretty awful to play for me. Would appreciate some sort of indicator for how large your jump will be from holding the button. Good job on completing this regardless.

I'm a scrub so I didn't get very far. Really good job though. Recreating an existing game is a great option for beginning developers. It feel like a pretty faithful recreation of Jump King. I like the art and the music. In the future I'd encourage you to think about what personal twist you want to incorporate, even if it's something small. Keep up the good work!

Well executed and fun to play. Great for a first jam!

Not sure what to say, great execution and the game is very fun. But it feels to me too much like a copy of "Jump King". Good job on this game either way!

Developer

Yeah I get your feeling. It is my first game Jam. So I didn't think too much about the mechanic and made a clone of the game. I also refer to Jump King in the description.

Nice level design and great visuals and music! The core jumping mechanic was good after getting used to for a bit - but as others have pointed out, some kind of charge meter would have been helpful, since some bad jumps sent you two or three floors down, which was frustrating (but maybe part of your game design as a punishing platformer). Good job overall!

Developer

That actually the case, I build this game inspiring myself on Jump King. In there you don't have a bar for the jump velocity, so you need some kind of feeling on when to jump or after a few try you get use to it.

Could we get a meter charge so we have an idea of how much we've been holding?

Very good game, when you get the hang of the controls it feels great and the art is beautiful.

makes me feel like playing jump king and I mean that in a good way... you have managed to create a very good and balanced jumping system, the music and sprites are great. for me this is a perfect jam game, congratulations!

The art is absolutely gorgeous! Loved the feels, level design is also great, the controls were a little strange to me but I haven't ever played jump king. Amazing game!

The music and art made the game atmospheric. The controls took some getting used to but really contributed to the feel of the game. Overall very well done.
