Hey bro,

Here is the first pass. Still plenty to do, but it would be good to get your feedback at this point.

Let me know what you think!

(1 edit)

First off, 0:0-0:23 make the main tune fade in and the rest of the instruments fade in after like the original and when the last few notes of that tune plays, have the music go from 80% to 100% volume but still try to keep it natural. 0:46-0:56 at the last note where it plays a C#, make the note stop when the last drum sfx plays just like the airplane version. At 2:04, make a lower pitch version of 0:46-0:56 where the first note for that part (0:46-0:56) matches with the note played at 2:04. At 3:47, add a note at the background that starts extremely low and slowly increases pitch (and increases in volume a little bit) for the duration G# is played. Around the 4:00 mark where it does the second to last repeat, cut off a part of the 2nd to last repeat and blend it in with the last repeat (In other words, take a good part to cut off (not a random portion) and set the volume to the same volume as the last repeat.). At the last note of the track, instead of doing one note, let the last repeat finish fully (include the part where it sounds like 0:10) and then while the repeat is finishing, have an octave fade in and at the part that sounds like 0:10, have both the octave and the normal pitch go from 80% to 100% volume for the last 6 notes (Make it sound natural: don't make it sound like you put your speaker volume from 5% to 100% volume.). Also, make the track sound more like the airplane version (Link in next message) and don't repeat the same tune over and over.

I know this may be a long text and hopefully it's not burning you out. Overall, 8.5/10.

S'all good, it's always great to have specific feedback. I'll get on all of that asap. So long as we're heading in the right direction, I'm happy. ;)

And also, make the 2nd part of the tune (0:46-0:56) finish like how it does in the airplane version. Also I finally turned the airplane hardcore mode music into a link. https://drive.google.com/file/d/14KAiDxSfDr8LsqGwyagBa36fvGE52nav/view?usp=drive...

Hey,

This is what I have, so far. I don't think I quite understood what you meant about the ending, so could you listen to this and give me a bit more direction from that?

Also, re the low note at 3:47 under the G#, I just need a bit more clarification as to what you're looking for.

Finally, when you said 'make the track sound more like the airplane version (Link in next message) and don't repeat the same tune over and over', do you want it to have that super compressed 8-bit sound? The authentic crunchy low quality feel, or were you referring to something else? And as for 'don't repeat the same tune over and over', what does this refer to?

I'm really having a great time with this, and I appreciate your direct and insightful feedback - I just want to make sure I am doing it right!

Thanks!

More things to add:

  • On the last 4 notes of the track, make the octave higher in volume and remove the 80% to 100% volume at the end. (Do that or have the last 4 notes go from 80% to 90% in volume (Recommended) and make sure to do the last 4 notes and not the last 2 this time.)
  • Try and copy 0:00-1:10 on the airplane version and make it 0:00-1:10 on the remix.
  • 0:12-0:19 have an octave (Like the one at the end of the track) ascend in volume. At 6 notes played at around 0:20-0:23, make the octave go to 100% volume and then have the octave descend in volume to about the same volume as the main tune. (0:00-0:12) (And after 0:46-0:56, when the main tune comes back on, don't have the octave play.)

Clarification:

  • When I said "Make the track sound more like the airplane version", I meant that as in both the sound and the parts from it.
  • At 3:47, basically make the really low note (with low volume as well) ascend in pitch and volume.
  • "Don't repeat the tune over and over", Don't repeat 0:00-0:12 or 0:46-0:56 too much. In the track you repeated it like 4 or 5 times.
Hopefully this cleared up some things for you.

Let me know how this is. Cheers.

Make the bass at 0:12 a bit louder, idk if you added the octave at the beginning but if you did, try to make it louder and make the 8bit notes sound exactly the same as the ones in the airplane version (Or something close to it). Other than that, it looks good.

(+1)

I tried as hard as possible to get the instruments sounding as close as I can, it's just tough given that I don't think I have the exact same instrument that they used. Hopefully this is getting close now, though.

  • Try to make the octave at the beginning sound like the octave at the end instead of making it sound like the main instrument.
  • At 1:02 have an octave that goes: A G# F# D# E F# G# (Hold G# for the duration C# is held out at 1:05)
  • At around 0:20, part of the track gets distorted. I don't know what it is but it sounds like if I was to dip a speaker underwater.

Other than that, looks good!

Hey, you still there?

Yes sir, I was out with my pizza trailer yesterday so didn't get a chance to work on it, lol. I should have this back to you later today or tomorrow. ;)

Hey man, I have done the things you asked. The only issue I had is with the harmony, as I couldn't get all of the notes you said to fit as a line. Let me know if what I have done is hitting the spot, or if you want me to change it. Cheers.

Just add an octave harmony at the beginning that sounds like the octave at the end start to ascend in volume at 0:12 and completely go silent at 0:23. (At 0:00-0:11, The octave wont play.) And thats it.

Hold on, nvm about the part where I said dont repeat the main tune too much.
