you do not give the little guy souls directly, you just walk up to whichever plot you want to buy and press W. And yes, balancing the difficulty was tough with everything else we wanted to include in the game, it may be refined in the future if we have enough interest in the game. Thanks for playing :)
I think the concept is strong but it felt odd that there were no punishments for adding wrong ingredients other than a sound effect that I could tell? Seems like the reactions should be tied to that. The physics for the flat palm worked well but I felt that the grabbing hand should have a slightly larger hitbox. Was often times where I was definitely in range of an object but couldn't grab it and caused me to miss. Overall it's a good game, I think just needs some minor tweaks in the gameplay to make it more polished.
So I really liked the art and sound design, impressive work on that. Even if you were using assets they were placed really well within the game. The gameplay is well-executed as well. Reminded me a lot of Don't Starve, which is a pretty great achievement for being a one-person crew in 72 hours. My only suggestion for improvement would be to add a full screen function because I kept finding myself clicking on the search bar/windows explorer when trying to aim the scythe where I wanted it to go. I got 14 coins but unfortunately that little frustration got in the way of me wanting to keep going.
The game has a good charm to it. I think once you figure out the mechanics it's a little bit too easy to beat. I think I beat the game in under 5 minutes. But impressive to get this done solo in one weekend -- as I'm just a composer that seems like a huge accomplishment in itself! I hope to see your work in future jams!
The presentation is phenomenal! A little confused on how this used the limitation but I got over it because it was so enjoyable to play. Seems like you all had fun making it and that made it really fun to play. "Type with me! ... or I'll break your arm!" is an instant classic in my mind. Plus it helped me brush up on my typing skills! Really only complaint is that use of the limitation is a bit of a stretch.
The overall presentation is excellent, I really like the music, art, and color pallet. I think this would work very well if expanded into a full game! Right now, there's so many ideas happening in such a small window that I think the gameplay feels a little bit overwhelming at first. It is challenging in a good way, but I think it might be a better experience if the difficulty spikes happened more gradually. I really enjoyed this though!
Hit me up!
This is my first jam and I am very eager to learn and be involved in the process in any way I can.
