It's an interesting mechanic for a platformer, it encourages you to rush through the game instead of taking your time.

I think that with the added difficulty of the ghost chasing you, you could have made the platforming easier. I couldn't get past the vertical wall section.

This had the most fun game loop of any of the games I've played so far. I liked that you could build your own gun and make an overpowered automatic shotgun that fires rifle bullets.

It would be nice if there was something to aim for once you've got all the upgrades you want, for example the shopkeeper could sell a key to escape the haunted mansion for 500 tears.

The sounds and screen shake when you slam down the hammer are so satisfying. The mechanics are very interesting and I love that you can learn the enemy movements. Very fun game.

I sometimes couldn't tell why I couldn't use the Q skill - I assume either it has a cooldown or maybe I couldn't use it while in the hammer animation. The difficulty curve was probably a bit too easy, I always had 500 spirits leftover after the upgrade so it didn't feel like I was ever going to lose. Really enjoyed playing it though.

Very fun game, the level of polish blew me away. Small things like playing random sound effects when changing the SFX slider and having a random name generator for the leaderboard go a long way to make the game feel more complete. Well done!

The best art and animations I've seen this jam by far! I felt very dumb when the A&D came up and I started tapping the keys as fast as I could expecting something to happen, but looking at the other reviews I'm glad I'm not the only one. I like that you included the second level even though it was unfinished because the art was great in that too.

Great game - fun, clever and a good length for a jam game. I like the haunted Windows XP background.

Thanks for the in depth feedback! I definitely didn't do a good enough job of explaining how to play in the tutorial, I'll keep that in mind for next time. I think it's okay if the game is hard, but I wanted it to be because the puzzles are challenging not because it's not clear how to play.

I'm glad you stuck with it and enjoyed the game! I realized fairly late that the game was difficult because it was confusing to work out what you should do rather than because the puzzles were hard, which I didn't want. Unfortunately it looks like I wasn't able to solve that completely.

Thanks for the nice comment! I've added a message to the description telling players to turn down the SFX volume because a few people have said that about the dialogue sounds - it was a last minute addition so I didn't properly test it.

Thanks for the feedback. I realized near the end that it was a bit confusing what you're supposed to do so I added a bunch of QoL features to try to make it clearer (highlighting the objects you can interact with, adding tooltips to some objects, adding dialogue to tell you not to listen to Timmy). I guess it still wasn't enough - I'll keep that in mind for next time.

The humor and art style are 10/10. I sometimes wasn't able to select the reply option when it came up, which wouldn't be a big issue if the dialogue wasn't so good so I felt like I missed out.

What's better than a death counter to tell you how bad you are at platformers? Permanent gore covering the entire level!

The game feels very polished, and the visuals and music do a good job of making it feel haunted. Unfortunately as I mentioned I'm terrible at platformers so I only got to level 3.

I really enjoyed this one. It felt very original, the puzzles were engaging but not too difficult so I was able to complete it. There were some bugs but nothing game breaking. Nice little twist at the end as well.

My only feedback would be that it wasn't always clear that you'd completed a puzzle, I just had to look around and see if any more doors were open.

Thanks for the feedback, glad you enjoyed it! I turned down the music volume at the last minute because it was too loud and you couldn't hear the dialogue sounds, but I guess I went too far the other way.

Loved the sound design on this, it was a real adrenaline boost when you got spotted. It was a bit confusing to work out where you were supposed to go but I managed to beat it third try (bananas!)

Thanks for playing! I maybe made it too hard, it helps if you realize that everything Timmy says is wrong, so if he suggests something you should probably do the opposite (thanks to the "Through the Teeth" wildcard).
