I edited my answer as I inverted Novel Studio with Ren'py on my points, sorry !
Yeah that's what I thought as I looked into it but it's clearly AI and not stated anywhere. Which is why I prefered to think that it wasn't wanted.
Good job on your game still, you can be very proud of it ~ I hope to see you more someday !
I am going to give an honest feedback here as a long-time Visual Novel player/reader.
The story sounds good and the writing is nice. There is a good idea for a VN that could turn into horror/suspense and investigation.
The exposition of everything at the beginning might be a little too much. Try to dispatch more your information's to not overload your reader with informations that they do not find useful at the time.
Good points to keep up :
- You have good writing, maybe try to expose a little less the characters & story elements straight on. Even more on a pure Visual Novel.
- Novel Studio Ren'py gives you a wide set of tools to make a key-in-hand VN and you tried to use them all which is nice.(Edited as I mixed up names)
Try to avoid :
- Try to not use AI for the characters next time. Novel Studio uses AI for it's in-package assets.
- You didn't had time to do the main piece of gameplay that is outside of Novel Studio Ren'py current toolset (The social media app) from what I understand. I would have preferred to see a poorly-drawn paint or free-assets VN game with less exposition but with the Social media App included.
- The music isn't really fitting the ambiance and kills the mood.
I tried to make this feedback hoping you didn't knew you were using AI artworks to help you as much as I could.
Thank you very much for your feedback !
I am glad that the feeling I tried to convey the best I could was on point then :D
Players are curious and players often intend to stray from the right path :)
Thank you fur the bug feedback ! I will look into it to release a better version after the judging time.
There is another game mechanic, thought it is not accessible right early on. Which is also why hints are displayed (For the game Jam only) in the pause menu ;)
Thank you again for the feedback, it is greatly appreciated !
Not very fan with clickers but this prototype was solid and not too long !
Maybe adding more effects on the screens ( seeing exactly how much followers we gain with each action ) or for actions that ask to wait having the button fill up until it's ready would be great !
A little note : I couldn't read the fonts very well as the letters are too close of each other with a big color contrast
Don't say your prototype is unfinished when it does have a beginning and an ending ! :)
Very cute and efficient way of stopping fire. I like how the tiles diminish turn after turn. Nice thinking on the tile spread mechanic.
Hope you'll do more levels and add more elements !
Also little bug/glitch without consequences : I could use my fire on the empty tiles out of the map :)
Fantastic game. The ambiance is amazing and I got sucked by the story in need of wanting more.
I just had a little hard time to guess what to do at the very beginning of the game but once I got a hold of it, it went smoothly.
And all of this comes from someone who cannot play horror games. You did great !
Just a tiny point ( and maybe it's because I didn't finished the game) but I don't see the link with the Jam Theme but that's all.
Hope you'll continue on that project, you have a solid prototype here !
It's very very cute ! Love Boogi design <3
Game is simple but absolutely lovely.
Maybe the areas should get bigger by the more "costly" the plants are ?
As others said, stuck at 70% too :(
Thanks you for thinking of AZERTY keyboards too.
I gave Boogi a flower !
Then a Shroom ! He seemed happy (I wanted to show a picture but couldn't but what happened is : I planted a mushroom on his head... :D )
Boogi is happy so I am happy
Graphisms are on point. Audio might be a little too high and subtitles for the tutorial at the beginning would have been perfect !
Gameplay is simple and understandable and I loved dashing all around the place even If I died very VERY quickly :D
I was surprised when I saw that the gas was following me more than just.. spreading everywhere I don't know if it was intended ?
On another side : Having a big optimization problem it seems. I was wondering also why the game was 6Gb but then I unzipped it... 12 Gb ? It seems a little bit too much even for a UE game. Edit : The problem was between the chair and the keyboard, my bad!
Also, fair warning : The game tried to access my network as Windows raised an alert for it. Either intended or not, it should not happen. Might want to check your game/prototype dependencies if not intended.
Very cute ! Game is simple and straight to the point. The animations are amazing !
Loved the idea, between a tower defense, and in my opinion it felt more like a clicker than cooking manager.
Good idea, great execution.
On the "bad" points : I kinda didn't understand the "stress" part. For me I was more worried they would become too fat instead of stressed :D
Also, biggest bathroom I've ever seen !
Loved the artstyle !
I am not a big platformer player but the game felt very nice !
Level 4 got me in trouble as I got stuck on the stairs every time and died unfortunatly
I stopped at Level 6 as I couldn't pass the end of the level with the two "spinning sticks" even using various methods to pass.
Still loved it !
Thank you for the feedback in your stream !
Thank you for pointing out about the Game Design Document, It was directly in the .zip but I'll add it in the executables directly
You made me laugh for ZQSD but it is for some Europeans keyboards ! Some are not (such as mine) QWERTY :)
I will take all your feedback and try to change them before the end.
You have indeed unlocked the True ending :)
