thanks for the feedback

Thanks, we are planning to add high scores. We will also add an options menu as well, we have a few things planned.

First off, thanks for taking the time to give such a detailed comment.

I think the idea came to us as we had been watching a GDC talk about creativity in ideas by adding limitations and had been talking about how we could use dice and card draw mechanics in games.

As for your bug, it could have been one of two things and to help us test for it. Was the blue thing just bobbing up and down and shooting things at you? I suspect either you were stuck on the creature itself or the blue fire projectile. You should be able to move away from either but wonder if you got weirdly stuck on a collider or something.

As for post-jam, we have plans for the game. We aim to add a player class system that has a card draw mechanic for special abilities for use within runs. We want people to be able to upgrade their classes and general stats to be able to feel progression. This might be through equipment or some other system. I have wanted to add pickups of some kind that allow you to re-roll or provide a one-time modifier but we are still planning these aspects. I do like the idea of having something that can only be done with low rolls to feel less bad when those double 1 appear.

Thanks for the feedback on the UI, I do plan to add some animation or identifier to the dice in the dice pool to make it obvious that they are your active dice. At this stage we don't see adding any more dice, however, will consider your suggestions on the layout.

Thanks so much for the kind words.

Thanks. We are planning to continue on it after the jam and Will change the camera to centre on the player. We will consider if zooming is needed as well.

Sure thing, happy to help out and give suggestions and feedback on UI stuff.

As for resources around UX/UI design, I recommend looking at user experience design principles such as Neilsen's usability heuristics. This website has a good overview of the design principles. Interface design is tied to creating a good user experience, so knowledge of both is a good idea.

Thanks so much.

We used and extended an asset pack.

I'm glad you liked the interface. I have a background in user experience and user interface design so wanted to make it nice and easy to understand.

thank you very much

Glad you love it! We found this a very fun idea and found ourselves forgetting that we were meant to be bug testing or testing our code.

A very relaxing and chill game you made. It has kept my attention for a long time which says a lot for game jam games. Good work.

(1 edit)

Thank you. We were really happy with how it came together in the end.

Glad you love the mechanics.  Post your high score in our thread on our game page.

I'm not sure if this is a bug or not but I had killed all of the rogue blood cells before they burst and no new ones appeared and then the game was over and I wasn't sure if it was because I failed or not

Great little game but I found the controls very counterintuitive and struggled to get beyond 1 seed grown

Thank you. Glad you liked it.

We have seen people get better with the game over several tries! Post your high score on the high score thread on the game page.

I think that start and end screen were either exported wrong or I it didn't load for me because I only saw hot pink and nothing else. It only started because I randomly clicked left and right click just in case

Love the idea but found it really hard to understand what I was meant to do. Like Sezotove, I was just killing the villagers. I also found that WASD didn't seem to work and had to use the arrow keys which made attacking and moving quite hard.

We are aware that the end score sometimes doesn't line up and is on our list to look at.

Take a screenshot of your high score and show off your skills!

Clicking on start doesn't seem to start the game.

I agree, I struggled to do anything other than crash land

thanks

thank you for your feedback. We had hoped to get more smaller upgrades in but didn't get time to implement them

Loved the game but found that I wasn't sure when the hand merchant would turn up again after the first level or how to get it back.

No that seems to be a bug. You should be able to buy either ship. We have it logged as a bug

Thanks for the feedback. We did originally plan to add additional upgrades but didn't have the time to implement them.  We did notice that not moving was a solid stragey but didn't have time to ensure that moving was needed

Thanks for the feedback.
I originally wanted to have the coins drop and add when picked up but ran out of time to do so.

We originally planned to have RPG style upgrades that you could purchase but ran out of time to implement them.

we planed to have something like the moving items but because of a limitization with Nav2d mesh were were not able too do so (which our enemy relies on).

Thanks for noting the bug, you should be able you use the third ship even if the second is not bought so some signal may be not connecting correctly.

thank you

Thanks for playing.

There is some randomization, so it can be either wave 2 or 3 before you get the first ship.
