yeah, I think it was level 12 (tho i'm not sure if they're randomly generated or not)

This is one of the few games I was actually scared! Really great atmosphere and art. I really like how the crucifix doubled as a light.

I got stuck a few times because sometimes the inputs don't work because of lag, like using the light, closing eyes, looking at the note I collected. I'll restart and write the code down so I can progress further in the game :)

I always get lost in maze games, but I at least managed to find a key! The art is cute and the limited battery/light resource was clever, especially I think some of the batteries I found weren't 100% which was an unpleasant surprise XD. The enemies definitely were a jump scare and I liked the character transformation.

It'd be cool to add some identifying markers on the map so you can tell if you've gotten to a new area or are just going in circles. Not obvious ones like arrows, but maybe just some different furniture so you can be like "oh I'm back at the grandfather clock again" or something like that. Just a way to orient yourself occasionally since you are basically wandering around in the dark.

Cool concept for a game. Unfortunately I couldn't figure out the code for one of the safes and got stuck.

Nice foundation for a shooting game, I can definitely see potential for more hallways and rooms where you can potentially get items and upgrades. I'm not a good enough gamer to get past the room with many robots XD

This was a really cool game! Though I got stuck in the ritual room and couldn't leave anymore XD. I liked the different clues you could find and am curious to find out more about the people in the house.

One suggestion I would have is to not have the typewriter text start from the center, I got a bit nauseous trying to read it as it was typing out. I'd suggest start from the left or else give people more time to read it once it's all typed out.

I really like this game! Reminds me a bit of the old choose your own adventure books. I'm playing as scholar right now, and I've managed to keep myself alive and explore lots of places, but it seems that I'm still missing a couple things on the skill tree that I'm not sure how to accomplish.

Would be cool in the future to have some more visuals pop up depending on your location, like the house, the glade, etc.

Cool atmosphere! I like the quest system, it helped me know what I was supposed to be doing. I went AFK for a minute in the village and had an army of skeletons on me XD

I wanted to go in the castle but couldn't figure out how. Harlwig spawned at the door though, so I just hit him once and defeated him, I don't know if that was intentional lol.

Thank you! I spent half my time on the audio so I'm glad you liked it :D I'm glad you got boss rooms that were increasingly more difficult...it was meant to be that way but sometimes RNG made it the opposite way.

Thank you! The end screen started out as a mistake when I forgot to destroy a couple objects from the previous scene, but then I decided to keep it that way and design the end screen around it :)

Very cool art style and intriguing story! I am bad at platformers but I managed to find the two chests, and I like how you had the animation and mechanic to grip the wall.

I really liked the art of this one. And it was really quite a cozy atmosphere until it wasn't XD. If you were to continue working on the game, it'd be nice to see the health bar of the enemies. I kind of want to be friends with Mr Long Legs now! His feet remind me of Baba Yaga's house :)

I'm really intrigued by the story and love the atmosphere of the town! I saw your note about a bug fix, but I'm not sure I was able to download the latest version of the game, I'm not sure how to progress after talking with the traveling merchant.

I really like the story and atmosphere! I've tried everything I can think of and can't get the good ending though :')

Hi! I downloaded the game but it gave me an error message when I tried to open it...not sure if it's just me though :(

I really liked the unsettling atmosphere and the "security camera" type graphics. I was always wondering who was going to come in the door next!

I think if you were to expand on the game, I wanted to move throughout the hotel, like when the guests phoned for something I wanted to go and actually physically do it, maybe it could be a bit of a puzzle like trying to figure out where to get whatever item they wanted, and when you gave it to them you could see a bit of whatever was happening in their room. Or maybe you go to deliver it and the person is missing or something.

But it definitely captured the horror/eldritch atmosphere even in just one room, great job!

Thanks! Yeah the escape sequence was a bit of an afterthought...I haven't learned how to properly program enemies so most of it was using the built in RNG, which is quite brutal XD. And originally I was gonna have a health bar/damage system but that also went out the window. I'll have to learn more about it for the next project. But I'm glad you enjoyed the art and music, they were kind of the focal point that inspired the rest of the game :D

Hi I'm finally done!

https://clonedkitty.itch.io/music-box

haha I'm glad you liked Bob, he started as a joke and then became part of the game. Yeah there's not much you can do with grandma's cat, I didn't manage to program any real interactions with him. And yeah you're right, it's definitely influenced by Stardew Valley... I like how in Stardew the music just kind of randomly starts but doesn't play in a loop. Next time I think I should add some rustling leaves or other sound effects to play after the song finishes so it's not just complete silence.

Thank you for your in depth commentary!

thanks! After everything I learned during the jam I kind of want to redo all the code so maybe I'll pick it up later to see if I can make it better and continue the story

thank you! Yeah I'll definitely have to figure out where the story goes from here

Very cute graphics! I'd love to play a game like this where you can earn money to buy different parts of the outfit and progress the storyline.

I liked the overall presentation and the music really helped to set the mood. It was pretty dark so it was hard to see much, although I was on my laptop so maybe it's better on a regular monitor. I went to the house with the red porch light but wasn't able to figure out what to do from there.

Thanks! I got a lot of ideas during the game jam and now I'm kind of attached to the story, so maybe later I will revisit the game and add to it <3

I am terrible with mazes and jumpscares so I haven't reached the end yet...but I will try again later and let you know how I go!

I used the main character for my game jam game, Something in the Water. She was the first asset I decided on and was a big inspiration for the rest of the game, so thank you!

I really like the intro and how the figure with red eyes kind of "guides" you in. One of the jumpscares definitely got me and I had to take a break XD.  There were a couple times where I couldn't use my lighter or light a torch but if I waited a bit I could, so not sure if that was intentional. One suggestion I'd have is have an option to turn off the head bobbing when walking/running...I didn't notice it in the catacombs but up in the graveyard I did and it gives me motion sickness. Very spooky game, I like how it fit the theme!

I really love the aesthetics of this game and would play it just to run around! I'm not the best at platformers though and got stuck at the scene with the man fishing...maybe in the beginning you could have very simple jumps to get ppl used to the mechanics and gravity before progressing to harder "levels". I personally need a bit more vertical leeway to react to what's happening, like either higher jumping or slower gravity. But I'm also terrible at platformers so... :D

MROWR! The ending is really just the beginning... XD

Thanks! Yeah half my time was watching tutorials and wondering why things didn't work the way I wanted them to XD. I did a kind of rush ending in order to be able to turn something in. But I definitely had a lot more ideas, maybe I can revisit this game later and add to it.

Thanks! Yeah I wanted to try and add more horror to the game but my programming skills are lacking XD

Yeah, I had plans for other things but got stuck on some coding for like 2+ weeks and ran out of time!

Oh, you mean the level that looks like a cake? That's the end, you beat the game! This was my first game so I didn't know how to do a pop-up message or anything to tell you the game was over...thanks for playing!

Aww thanks Yeff! I'm glad it made sense to someone other than me XD
