That's a great idea, I could even add special effects with each level, like fog that obscures the enemies until they get closer, or random lightning that you have to counter...you've got my creative juices flowing :D

I loved to see you play the game, thanks a lot!

Very funny and intriguing setup, but it takes toooooo long to get through every loop. The production values are insane!

Yeah, I ended up making it too easy for fear of making it too hard...nice to know I'm not alone in my balancing struggles! :D

Also, I hadn't thought about it like a static "Survivor" game, but now that's given a million ideas of things I could've done, like powerups after beating X enemies an such...now I hope I had shared the game before the end of the jam!

Thanks a lot for the comment!

I love how this game looks! The passcode mechanic to open the crates is a very intelligent idea, it adds an amazing layer of depth to the mechanics. I missed some particle and sound effects when I completed a passcode, in the beginning I wasn't sure I was doing it right until I looked at the score (btw, the score should also increase with the time you're alive or by the obstacles you avoid).

I'd also make the hitboxes of the obstacles a bit smaller, several times I changed lanes when I though I've already avoided an obstacle but it still hit me. It happened more than once, so I think it would make the game more enticing if you favoured the player pulling these types of close calls.

It would also be great to make the passcode of a new box replace the current one. Sometimes I went after a golden box while not having completed the current password but it wouldn't work. I think it would add another layer to the game, so the player could decide to go after a better box, or try to avoid them while still completing the active passcode.

It may seem that I'm complaining about a lot of stuff but all of these are minor things or ideas if you decide to develop the game any further; I liked the game A LOT :)

Can you give me some tips on how you achieved that look? Specially with the lighting, whenever I try to make a simple look like this it looks very bad...

Congrats, great job!

I always have problems adjusting the difficulty, when I try to make the game a bit challenging it ends up being too hard for the players...but it seems that this time I overcorrected :)

Thanks a lot for the comment, I'm very happy that you enjoyed the game!

Haha there's no end, the game will just get harder until you die :)

Thanks for playing the game!

I tried 10 times and I only managed to get an attack out once...I still don't know what to do, I tried charging the attack at different levels depending on the tree size, launching a weak attack with E... no matter what I did it was always time to rest. Also, the long GameOver sequence discouraged me from playing more, I was spending more time in the GameOver screen than in the game itself.

The tutorial is very confusing, with many concepts that make no sense to a new player, I don't understand why it's time to rest or why would I gain more time by cutting down trees? I read it several times but I couldn't wrap my head around what I'm supposed to do and what it all means.

You should put an arrow or, better yet, a scroll bar in the tutorial because nothing hints at there being more info below. And put buttons or make the scrollwheel work, even after seeing your message  saying there was more info below it took me a while to discover that I had to grab and pull the text.

You also need a button to close the game. I had to Alt+F4 out of it because I couldn't find a "clean" way to quit.

The sprites and art are very good and the music is very catchy :)

Very original idea and very polished game, the game feel is fantastic. The gameplay needs some tweaking, because in  the end I just played looking at the board with the spells being extra effects I gained for doing nothing. The only timed I used them willingly was when my knight died and I could revive him with a spell. By just focusing on making the mage follow the easiest path I was able to reach floor 90 on my first try without having to make any interesting decisions. Still, I understand that with the time limitations it's impossible to properly tune the gameplay so much.

Overall a very good game, one of the most creative ideas and I see a lot of potential for this if you develop it further: You could even add more unlockable characters with different spells and special mechanics. Great job!

Amazing game! The concept is very good and it's used in very clever ways. The level progression is very well done, introducing new concepts gradually in every level. The way the information is presented is very cool as well and the  game overall looks and feels FANTASTIC. Only minor gripe is that the cube could move a bit faster...and that the button you leave on the floor should be shown, I was stumped in a puzzle for a bit until I realized teh button markings on the floor don't update if you leave a different one.

I wish there were more levels, but I know that with the limited time of the jam it's very hard to make enough content.  At least the game had a beginning and an end, which made it feel very polished.

Awesome job, my #1 pick to win for now :)

AMAZING GAME! It took me a bit to understand how it works (you should definitely put the instructions on the game itself, specially that R is to restart) but once I did I couldn't put it down. Every level started with me scratching my head thinking there was no possible way to solve it but when I found the solution it felt soooo good!! Also, very original interpretation of the theme of the jam.

Awesome game, my favourite of the jam thus far :)

The game looks really good, I loved all aspects of the presentation and specially those sweeeeet transition effects between scenes. Pity that there's really nothing to do, next time you should focus on the game loop before putting so much effort into the presentation! Still, you have a nice skeleton for a game here, hope you keep working on it!

Very creative idea, I like that both balls have different mechanics. However, it was a bit too easy to just keep the the white ball sinked and avoid all obstacles, as the black ball doesn't get half as many. If you want to develop this further, maybe you could make it so that the score rises faster if you keep both balls together, that would force the player to take more risks.

Still, great idea and very well implemented, the game is so elegant! Great job!

I had a game just like this when I was little! Very cool, I've spent some time trying to get better times, I would love a full version of this with more levels :)

Very cool! You should definitely make more bosses, I would've kept playing if there were more of them!

Very original! I gave up after a few questions, but I'll be coming back to try again. Also, very literal and creative way of interpreting the theme, great job!

Incredible polish and presentation for such a short time, but I played an almost exact game from another Jam with the same theme. I didn't like the level design either, level 2 was very hard, but then the rest were a piece of cake, until I got again stuck in another one...The ABABAB texts and some other the ideas like the menus are genius :)

Very fun! I love the twist that your own bullets can hurt you, with just a couple of elements you've created something very good! And graphically it's very cool as well :)

It works now, good game!  A bit too simple, you coudl try adding different types of flies that move in different ways or require more than one click to kill.

Very nice mechanic, I wish you would have put more time into it, but it´s a nice start for just 4 hours :)

Very cute game! It got a chuckle or two out of me, I like the innocence of the character and the music sets the mood perfectly, I love how it adpats to the time of day. The ending was great, lol. I wish there were more things to do, but that would go against the core premise  of the game, so I understand it. I enocurage people to put 13 minutes into this to see the ending, it´s well worth it.

Very solid entry, great job!

Wow, thanks for the video, it really helps a lot! You´re completely right with the controls and I should also make the game more welcoming at the start, explaining better the range of the attacks and making it a bit less complex in the first waves. The MISS cooldown is just like your viewer said; it´s designed to prevent the player from mashing the buttons, you need to hit once at the right time. What´s more, landing a hit allows you to instantly cancel the attack into a new one, so you´ll always have time to act on new enemies.

Thanks again and specially for taking the time to stream this and share it, being able to watch you play the game while you comment on it is invaluable feedback!

Amazing mechanics! Very simple yet incredibly inventive, I wonder how this hasn´t been made before. The idea of the enemies creating more danger as you kill them so you can control the danger, but at the same time needing the money to buy stuff and having to kill the enemies before they disappear....I don´t know if I would change anything. Maybe I would get rid of the circle and have just the square. You could add stuff that accelerated the rotation, or which gave you two squares (double shot power but dobule the risk!) enemies that move or explode in different ways...I´m sure you´ve already though of some of these and you just didn´t have time to include them, I hope you develop this further as you can do many cool things with these mechanics!!

The game looks great, but the controls are too tricky! You should reduce the inertia of the character and use bigger platforms, at least at the beginning until the player has had some time to get accustomed to the movement. Also, make the player jump when the key is pressed instead of when it releases, it feels veryun responsive to have it on release.

The fox sprite is amazing, I love it and it´s animations.

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah the UI is very blurry, there´s an update in the way that fixes this. Regarding the special, it also heals one heart so you have to decide if you want to save it for when you´re low on health...Maybe I´ll upgrade it to healing all hearts so the decission has more weight.

Gameplay is simple, it´s all I could do in 3 days. But I´m already working on adding something more, stay tuned!

Thanks again for your comments!

Wow, thanks a lot!!! And many thanks for your suggestion on how to ease in new players without boring veterans, I´ve been trying ways to do it but couldn´t find anything. Your idea is just what I was looking for and it will be very easy to implement!

You´re also right with the controls, Ctrl/Shift was such a bad choice to make as Shift poses problems for Windows users and Ctrl does so for Mac ones. After the voting period ends I´ll update the game with different default controls, configurable keys as well as your awesome method to ease in new players.

Thanks a lot for your feedback, really :)

I just added a zip file, hope you enjoy the game!

Oh, I saw the green particle effect but that is usually used for poison and trash so I wasn´t sure that it was signaling the healthy food. Maybe using a more lively green for the particles could help.

Very original mechanic! And it fits the theme perfectly as well. If you could work on randomizing the obstacles better this could become a very interesting game!

Yeah I can relate to that, with the tight jam schedule you already implemented a lot of stuff like the different types of ants, you must´ve worked really hard!

Thanks a lot for the sweet comment :) The other game could be Yie Ar Kung-Fu?

Glad you liked it!

Ohh I see now! I could open all doors, nice game, I enjoyed it! The sound volume is sometimes too high, maybe look into that.

Any tips?

I like the eery atmosphere but I don´t understand  what I´m supposed to do, can you open any doors?

BTW, nice detail shwoing the characters ass when it turns around lol

The game won´t start, I´m using Chrome+Win10, sorry.

Very nice idea, but you need to control better enemy spawning and maybe make the game a bit easier by giving the player more space to move, most times I felt like I couldn´t make any choices, only run away until I ran out of space.

Great idea and very well executed! I love the music, it sets the right tone. The main mechanic is very nice, with you having to carefully get all the items in the list first and then avoid the rest. Making granny rush in one direction of the other with the sound of the cart is hilarious. Congratulations, you did a great job!

Great game, I love the setting, the music, the graphics and the main idea is very original. However I found it very difficult, the syringe is too fast and is impossible to control, I always ended up dying too soon. With some balance I could see this becomeing a very fun game :)

I love the look of this, the colors, the style...and in movement it looks even better! The game is fun to play but with the graphics so small sometimes it isn´t clear exactly what the food is and if it´s good or not,, maybe you could some visual effect that made it clear that the food is junk or not?

I really love how this looks, can´t stop looking at the screenshots, you did an amazing job!
