So if the timer has started, can I start? Or would that be unfair? Also no theme and game design document will make it a rough start. I answered my own question I will wait for theme so I can make a proper game design doc. It does say 8 am PST, less then a hour now. It would be unfair.

So the theme is either "Nothing",  or "I slept in" apparently haha.

Gobs - A galactic representation of the game many of us played when we were younger, Pogs.

https://dreamaise.itch.io/gobs It was supposed to be a webgl but after severe difficulties I had to go windows.exe.

Suitable for all ages however it is gambling. Score is  not currently working so, is it really gambling? haha

 The theme was heal and with my theme chosen ahead of time I could only adapt. The atmosphere and visuals is where I tried to drive home the heal aspect. Effort made to try and make it as comforting as I could should you just be on the mend yourself.

I ran out of time in so many ways so I will list known issues. Settings volume and pitch not working. Playfield missing in battle 1. Fade transitions not working.  Battle states and the separation of players enemy's turn not working. No animations for player or enemy turn. And many more I'm sure as this is my first ever game. Oh and stated above total gobs won score is not working again...

What I had to chop because of my inexperience and time constraints. Inventory, click to drag to said inventory, slam / players turn / enemy's turn animations. Pause menu.

Ps .It's so rough around the edges, watch yourself!

Thanks for everything!

There will be no game submission on my behalf as I cant even upload it to the web after trying for 11 hours. I go from 4 weird error messages to 219. I completely broke the shit out of my game and my ability to make a working build and upload it all in the span of an afternoon. Still no clue where I went wrong or what I did wrong . If you got your game to upload in webGL  and you are using Unity you are a god. I totally fucking give up .

I have tried everything and still nothing works now at 12 completely different exports and uploads not one working. I may just have to resign the fact that I'm unable to submit my project to webgl from unity. Even though as I was working to a solution, others using unity came got help uploading there game and there's works fine. Meanwhile I'm screwed with this .js error. The part that baffles me is I have been using c sharp  as my language not java... my patience for continuing to try is all but gone. Looks like my first game is a complete failure. I never for one second thought I wouldn't be able to upload my game  but here I'm screwed. what a waste of 2 long weeks...

I can not for the life of me load my game from unity to itch.io whatever way I try compressed uncompressed whatever. I still have a .js error stopping me I have been trying for 4 hours with help from discord and nothing is working. At this point with every tutorial I can find on the subject showing me to do exactly what I'm and there's works. I only have 2 more hours to figure this out or I lose because I cant even submit the freaking game. if anyone is reading this and can understand what I'm doing wrong get this error please help. At this point I have exported and reuploaded 8 times not one working I don't even slightly understand what I'm doing but clearly I'm missing a file.

Mid afternoon update. Player and enemy text animations are still fubar. Multiplying of levels and credits are all done everything is hooked up just to learn how to export a exe  for webgl and get it online. Then I plan on returning to those animations.

Morning update, everything is working but my text animations, but just have to move forward. I'm multiplying scenes for different battles then credits write credits and I will upload it. Then try and fix the text animation triggers after the upload, if time allows. Good luck finishing!

Time got away on me doing so much to try and just finish. had to be 20 things. I will have to upload a playable version early tomorrow morning just to late to do it now . I do have one more bug I noticed last minute I want to fix. Stupid audio manager is muting my game sfx for some reason when starting from main menu. it is so close i would like to do it now but will just have to put it off. Credits are not even finished or started.... Anyone have a time machine I can rent? Till tomorrow.

Ya I missed a post yesterday real life kicked me in the ass and lost a day. However I did a bit of progress today. Got audio working ok some animations working but more ten that I created 405 different gobs there is an amazing variety of artwork on the back side of the gobs, dragons, mythological heroes, planets, archers, zombies , cute creatures, and way more. if I can I want to finalize my "flawed" level design and multiply it by 12 to give the game some depth and get it  uploaded online even if it is not complete just so I have something to hand in. Maybe get some last minute feedback on serious defects ya I'm sure I have a few hahaha. Something is  better then nothing. Till tomorrow my "get something loaded online" day.

So I have nothing but disappointment to share. As it turns out my battle states are not quite what I expected with just a enum. So I will have to just disguise my mistake and polish what's left  make some more gobs and get something done. It may not be a full game but I will try to make it feel like it is. I will just have to call it a Apollo 13 attempt a successful failure. I will continue to polish things but the enemy's turn will likely need to be inputs from the player and not automated. I honestly don't feel disappointed about this I feel excited at what I have accomplished. The only thing I would do differently is make up a topic myself that I can change along the way if needed. Choosing something with hard fast rules for my first project was not my smartest choice as it feels to rigid. Anyways I will script in audio and some animations and do what I can. The finish line is moving up so fast haha. Till tomorrow.

There much better this should work I actually loaded this one on to the interwebs!

Video says most of what I need to.  At the end I'm just showing what I need to fix next to start to "wrap up" the game it's restricting player inputs automating enemy turn scoring for him and slowing the action way way down. also more sounds I need to show the slammer and feel that impact.

I hope your guys games are in a better spot then mine is, I feel so far behind of where I need to be. i will share a bad joke i made up earlier when taking a break it's Unity Specific.

Debug.Log("I love");

yield return new WaitForSeconds(Random.Range(1f,10f));

Debug.Log("Coroutines!");

Also totally how I feel, have a good night !

Oh shoot ok I will look at doing another later on today. I suspected it wouldn't work but was to tired last night to make it work, later today!

I may have messed up the video link if it doesn't work just paste into browser window.

file:///D:/YouTube%20Videos/Xbox%20ULTIMATE%20PLAY%20SWEEPSTAKES_files/gobs.mp4

Today comes with a Video of my progress to date. Today felt like a great day finally getting the scoring to display properly I felt the need share.

Tomorrow is a huge list, of mostly small things. Just a bit of restrictions, animations and some sounds. Then I would feel good about putting it online to be tested by you all. I still have just a Huge batch of Gobs(hoping 1000) and need to make as many as I can . The sooner i can get the game main part done the more I can embellish.

 maybe this one... hahahah     file:///D:/YouTube%20Videos/Xbox%20ULTIMATE%20PLAY%20SWEEPSTAKES_files/gobs.mp4

I do hope you enjoy the video and my progress, till tomorrow!

Made some awesome progress today leaving the not working inventory in my dust.

betAmount = 0;

 Instantiate(gobsList[Random.Range(0, gobsList.Count - 1)], new Vector3(0, 1, 0), Quaternion.identity);

 betAmount++;

My favorite code for the day, It pulls a gob's from a folder in my Assets at random and spawns it on a highly specific spot. Depending on the bet amount is how many spawn here look.

- The amounts and buttons are working.

-Initial Scatter coroutine figured out

- Battle states Defined

- Start State Finished

- Player State finished

Plus likely other stuff I didn't write down. When my Ui is working and I have some animations and better sequencing I will have to post a  teaser video .

Good day and I Didn't look at YouTube For Nothing! (I used Codecademy's Cheat sheets lol)

Till tomorrow!

At the end of the day I had to stop doing the not working inventory and revert back. Tomorrow I will get into defining battle states and work on the gob positioning timing etc. Basically move forward without a inventory and just have a tally on the screen, and hope to finish at this point. Till tomorrow.

Thanks I will look into that option tomorrow, 2 days on one system is to much haha.

Another hard fought day against my Inventory and lost again. Tomorrow I will reach out see where I went wrong. I cant get this inventory system to instantiate anything for shit. Cant even fully understand where the Instantiation happens without the word instantiate. All my code is running but being blocked somehow not recognizing the UI and putting objects into it.

{

    Inventory inventory;

    public GameObject inventoryUI;

    public Transform itemsParent;

    InventorySot[] slots;

    // Start is called before the first frame update

    void Start()

    {

        inventory = Inventory.instance;

        inventory.onItemChangedCallback += UpdateUI;

        slots = itemsParent.GetComponentsInChildren<InventorySot>(true);

    }

    // Update is called once per frame

    void Update()

    {

        if (Input.GetButtonDown("Inventory"))

        {

            inventoryUI.SetActive (!inventoryUI.activeSelf);

        }

    }

    public void UpdateUI()

    {

        Debug.LogWarning("Updating UI");

        for (int i = 0; i < slots.Length; i++)

        {

            if (i < inventory.items.Count)

            {

                slots[i].AddItem(inventory.items[i]);

            }

            else

            {

                slots[i].ClearSlot();

            }

        }

    }

I believe this is the Instantiation part and that the flaw lies within however I have no clue. I can Say that the Debug .Log("Upadating UI") is not getting tripped at all.

Any help  would help would be good as The inventory is critical to my Game working properly.

Till tomorrow

Just going to bookend my day 4 log here as it will be short. Nothing worked today in trying to drag and drop the gobs into the interface like at all. Right at the end just now I got my foundation to just right click and add to inventory not what I intended but It will work. I cant  waste any more time trying something that's not working. Then I noticed the time and will call it a day on a small win.

Till Tomorrow

I will give you all of the highlights.

What I'm trying to achieve with flair can be seen here. https://app.milanote.com/1O6ofN1Emg5X2V?p=gBj88BpgdiG

Main menu works except exit(obviously).

My Storyboard and also credits to make the game more immersive.

Settings menu (only button works atm)

Main Game scene:

-UI working

-Click to drag working

- Tooltip working

-First series of 12 Gobs done

- Inventory system done but bugged out and misbehaving.(tomorrows job)

-Fixed Gob "Bug" (Try and make a cylinder 2 sided with different images I dare ya! hahahah)

Finally chose a Gob Backside image.

Hope is all well on all your progress you all have been making. Some seriously creative people out there.

Frustrated with my Inventory system, so I called  it a day a tad early, Tomorrow.

Happy Building!

Day 2 much like yesterday I feel disappointed in how much I accomplished.

- Click and drag <~~~~ Why did I do this exactly? To stay on theme all my controls will be done with the mouse.  Say your healing and are mangled and all you can do is click a mouse while your recovering.

-In game game UI (will update to new images of better UI) It will be the same as the Header that was displaying under my mouse.

- Tooltip System

- Working 2 sided single game object "Gob"

- Background test models.

Above you will find the designs I have for my Gob's Back face.

***I would encourage you to pick your favorite and leave a number below. Top left is 1 and bottom right is 15.*** (My fav is 14 :P)

Tomorrow:

 -I would like to make sure all UI elements are working as intended.

 -Start and finish a inventory system

-Address Audio restarting on scene change (Something is script)

-Address fade transition bug (Animation itself likely)

Signing off for day 2 Peace out!~

https://app.milanote.com/1O6ofN1Emg5X2V?p=gBj88BpgdiG Link to my story/planning board outdated (not updated) but has more specifics.

 Sorry working away didn't look till now will update here after I get this tooltip working.

Just something simple I can start with.

Hey,

This being my first game jam I'm happy to share some of my progress. Even though today was rough and  It feels like I didn't get as far along as I had hoped.  I just took some screenshots because pictures  are worth 1000 words they say.

Sounds are working(Music and SFX), fade transitions, and all buttons are working.

Also have credits / Story Board done as well. Tomorrow will be in game UI and pause menu. Hopefully....

Hope tomorrow feels better productivity wise. I hope you all are having fun out there!

My big Bug today was unity itself and the freaking Hierarchy. The trick is to get as low as you can with the element in the Hierarchy that  you want out front. Sounds stupid but blocked my progress for over a hour. Signing out for day one.

 More Tomorrow!

1. Hi there! What's your name?

Hey my name is Adam Price 36 years of age residing in the "great white north" Canada!

I have  formal Background in Environmental Horticulture but a love for technology.

2. Did you participate in the last jam we held? If so, what do you plan on doing better this time? If not, what's your reason for joining?

Nope first time jammer. I have played with unity a handful of times but never followed through on a project. I figure a competition to get something ,anything done will be a win.

3. What games are your favorites? Did any of them inspire you, or made you want to make your own?

Morrowind Elder Scrolls 3 is my all time favorite. I do also like a lot of old N.E.S. games as I grew up playing games cross legged in front of the TV for years.

4. Do you have experience with game development? What did you do/with what engine?

I have some very weak c# skills that I recently learned through CodeAcademy which helps but I definitely need practice.

5. Tell us about something you're passionate about!

Lots really , cant narrow it down to one thing.

6. What are your goals for this game jam?

Just get something made whatever state it's in . just get it done.

Ps,

I have already started a outline of what I want to do. If your interested in checking it out. I have a storyboard you can look at .

Gob's! ~~>       https://app.milanote.com/1O6ofN1Emg5X2V?p=gBj88BpgdiG  Just a free site I found that I can create a story board/layout.

May your creative genius carry you forward!
