Welcome to My First Game Jam: Summer 2022! For those of you just joining us, it's been a tradition to kick things off with a little getting-to-know-you questionnaire! For the first-time game developer, things can be pretty intimidating... which is why we want to show you you're not alone! This is not a required activity— it's just meant as a way to break into the community for returning jammers and newbies alike.

We'd love for you to share your influences, passions, and jam goals with the rest of us. Who knows — you might meet a potential team member, or even a new friend!

(These questions are entirely optional; they're just here to warm things up, so feel free to skip them as needed!)

Onto the questions!

1. Hi there! What's your name? Want to introduce yourself?
2. Did you participate in the last jam we held? If so, what do you plan on doing better this time? If not, what's your reason for joining?
3. What games are your favorites? Did any of them inspire you, or made you want to make your own?
4. Do you have experience with game development? What did you do/with what engine?
5. Tell us about something you're passionate about!
6. What are your goals for this game jam?

For returning jammers:

7. Any advice to new participants?
8. What can the admins do to improve your jam experience?
9. What are some of the past works you've made for the jam? Show off your favorites!
10. Got any question suggestions? Let us know for next year!

1. Hi there! What's your name? Want to introduce yourself?

My name is Talia B., and it's a pleasure.

2. Did you participate in the last jam we held? If so, what do you plan on doing better this time? If not, what's your reason for joining?

I did 2020 - I skipped last year!  I plan to do more tight coordination with my team.

3. What games are your favorites? Did any of them inspire you, or made you want to make your own?

Wing Commander, Final Fantasy 4/5/6/7 and FFL 3, Magic the Gathering, Duel Masters/Kaijudo and VS System are all standout games;  I'm drawing inspiration mostly from the latter three.

4. Do you have experience with game development? What did you do/with what engine?

Most of my experience is with Ren'Py and various versions of RPGMaker; I'm a writer, designer, art director and producer.

5. Tell us about something you're passionate about!

I love renaissance history and 'what-ifs' so much that I set my isekai story in a fantasy age of sail where an analogue to Zheng He kicked things off early by starting 'Chinese' sea trade with Africa and the West.

6. What are your goals for this game jam?

I plan to make an analogue card game - or at least two playable decks in it!

7. Any advice to new participants?

Scoping and preproduction is your friend.  Know how many assets you need and how many you can fake.  Remember, it's a jam: look for a minimum viable product and make that.  If you finish early you can always polish and expand it later.

8. What can the admins do to improve your jam experience?

I'm pretty satisfied with what the admins do already, but I am interested in them curating some games from the jam that they thought were worth mentioning!

9. What are some of the past works you've made for the jam? Show off your favorites!

There's Isekai/Online: Beta Test Blues, which I had to strip down to one fight and one conversation tree: on the other hand, actually having it out the door gave me the courage to expand the story into a novel and I'm working on a couple of sequel novels to boot!

10. Got any question suggestions? Let us know for next year!

A question about particular disciplines folks would want to branch into, like art or writing or production!

1. Hi there! What's your name? Want to introduce yourself?

My name's Tinyuuri, a pleasure to work with you all! Currently, I am a college student.

2. Did you participate in the last jam we held? If so, what do you plan on doing better this time? If not, what's your reason for joining?

I did not.

3. What games are your favorites? Did any of them inspire you, or made you want to make your own?

Well, I have been a Pokemon addict ever since I had been enrolled in elementary school. I definitely started to dream about making my own games early on. Other than that, I love horror games (e.g. Poppy Playtime, FNaF, Amnesia, you name it) and also laid-back experiences such as Stardew Valley. Card games in general are also my favorites and strategy-based games like the Civilization series.

4. Do you have experience with game development? What did you do/with what engine?

I recently put a lot of time into learning the Unity Engine and C# as well as Python. Before that, when I had no coding experience, I used RPG Maker to create Fangames as a hobby. I vaguely remember that I participated in a computer science club in elementary school, where we ended up making a game in Scratch.

5. Tell us about something you're passionate about!

Aside from games, I love story writing and am a hobbyist author of light novels.

6. What are your goals for this game jam?

I want to improve my skills and acquire lots of new knowledge in game development. I want to create a game that I can be proud of in the end and which, ideally, provides a fun experience for the players of it.

1) hello I’m a programmer and strategist new to game dev!

3) my favorite games are:

Ring of Pain,

League of Legends

Chrono trigger

Mario cart

Strategy and drawing board games like Werewolf, Resistance, Drawful, Charades

Host

Hey Kentaro, we have a hard ban rule on crypto. I’m going to ask if you’re looking to learn videogames to make crypto games to leave our space.

Host (1 edit)

Also, I don’t believe you have DMs open on discord but just letting you know I decided to follow our ban rule in the interest of applying it fairly since you did not read the rules and also broke it a second time even after informed (and your intro here still mentions crypto). You may still use the forums provided the above reply, but just wanted to let you know for transparency.

1. Hey, I'm Foggy! I like to play video games and very recently I started to make my own.

2.I didn't participate in your jams before but I'm excited for this one because game jams are really fun and also a good learning experience.

3. My favourite games are probably "Half-Life 2", "Risk of Rain 2" and probably "My Friend Pedro". The last one is actually my inspiration for my dream game(still haven't started working on it)

4. I made 4 games so far, three on Godot and one on Pygame.

5.Aside from making games I also do 3d fan art of the games I like.

6. I want to make something interesting that fits the theme and is fun to play.

Excited to see how this jam goes, hope everyone has fun!

(+2)

1. Hi there! What's your name? Want to introduce yourself?

Hey! I'm Simon. Before I started getting into game development, I focused primarily on digital artwork! I ended up easing into pixel art a few years back, and it gradually drew me closer and closer to game development. I realized making a game was a big dream of mine, so here I am, trying to learn the ropes so I can hopefully make something awesome in the future!

2. Did you participate in the last jam we held? If so, what do you plan on doing better this time? If not, what's your reason for joining?

I didn't! I hadn't discovered this jam in time to join the prior event—but I'm excited to participate in the summer jam! I've been trying to join game jams so I can learn more about making games and utilize the knowledge and skills I develop later on, and this seems like a really cool and fun jam to participate in!

3. What games are your favorites? Did any of them inspire you, or made you want to make your own?

Some of my favorite games are Final Fantasy VII, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Um Jammer Lammy, and Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky!

They've all played some part in making me want to make games—Final Fantasy VII has made me want to try my hand at a JRPG in the distant future, while Symphony of the Night was what made me form the idea for my primary big passion project, a Metroidvania game.

The unifying factor between them all are the vivid, evocative feelings they inspire in me. Whether it's the simple satisfaction of "getting into the groove" in Um Jammer Lammy, or the iconic and emotional scenes in Final Fantasy VII or Explorers of Sky, all of these games have made me really feel something, and in turn, they've made me want to make games that inspire that kind of emotion in others!

4. Do you have experience with game development? What did you do/with what engine?

Very little! I've done artwork in a team for two games made for two separate jams (Character sprites for a short visual novel, game sprites and concept artwork for a short Metroidvania), and solo development where I created original artwork, writing, and programming for a visual novel made with Ren'Py. I'm still very much a novice with the program, though.

5. Tell us about something you're passionate about!

I am very passionate about making characters and telling stories—I love putting a heart and soul into a character regardless of how prominent or "important" they may be to a narrative. There are so many people with countless different experiences and personal stories out there in the world, and I think it breathes so much life into your creations to reflect that through acknowledging the rich inner world of everyone you run into.

6. What are your goals for this game jam?

I think it'd be awesome to make something with a new engine, maybe Godot (which I am trying to learn as a "main" engine) or RPG Maker! I'm not sure how practical it would be for the scope of this jam, but getting some experience with developing a Metroidvania would be awesome, haha.

If I can't make something outside of Ren'Py/with a different program, I'm hoping to at least get more "advanced" with how I utilize it—maybe making a visual novel with branching paths, or multiple short routes! Even just learning some more snazzy effects would be great, haha.

(+3)

1. Hi there! What's your name? Want to introduce yourself?

Hi! I'm Oleander, but most people just call me Ollie! I'm 21, my pronouns are vi/vim, and this is my first ever jam!

2. Did you participate in the last jam we held? If so, what do you plan on doing better this time? If not, what's your reason for joining?

I didn't, but I was really excited to try this one because I've never made a game before, and I don't really have experience with an engine. I also struggle with convincing myself to do things if I don't have a time limit, so I decided to look through the game jams on itch and this one seemed perfect! I'm so grateful for a game that is specifically welcoming to people that are as new as me!

3. What games are your favorites? Did any of them inspire you, or made you want to make your own?

I really love Pokémon games, but I've gotten frustrated with seeing potential in them that they just aren't living up to. I began seeing this in almost every game I play, seeing stuff I would have changed to make the experience better (from my point of view). Being disabled and queer, big AAA games just seemed to forget people like me. I started playing indie games, and realized, I could try to make the accessibility and inclusion MYSELF. Eventually, I played Hollow Knight, and couldn't find a single thing I'd change. When I found out it was made by such a small team of people, it's really what pushed me to actually try instead of procrastinate. So here I am!

4. Do you have experience with game development? What did you do/with what engine?

Nothing, except halfway finished tutorials in Godot! I have glanced at engines like Unity, but none of them were immediately comfortable to me like Godot is.

5. Tell us about something you're passionate about!

I'm really passionate about frogs! I love frogs so much. I own like 30 frog plushies, and who knows how many frog pins, hats, little figures, umbrellas, etc. I love frogs so much that my partner thought that the best thing to get me for Valentines Day was a GIANT stuffed frog - and they were right!!! I eventually plan to have my own real frogs, but only when I can properly care for them with the knowledge and income. I will also try a game solely because I know there's a frog in it. Frogs are the best thing on earth to me.

6. What are your goals for this game jam?

My goal is honestly to just actually work on something for more than a few hours. I have a huge problem with procrastination, and if I can overcome that then I will consider this a success. I've also always struggled with joining communities, so I'm hoping that I can at least make a connection or two here so I have someone to discuss and bounce ideas off of with, maybe even work with in the future? I've heard so many times about how having those connections is extremely important, so yeah!

tldr; I'm Ollie, I want to make games to increase the amount that have inclusion and accessibility, I love Pokémon and frogs, I have minimal engine experience with Godot, and I just hope to not procrastinate!

I know my introduction has been extremely long, I'm just really excited!

(+1)

hey ollie!!!! i'm excited to see what you'll come up with :3 (i also love pokemon and hollow knight ^-^) is there going to be a frog in your game??

(+1)

Thank you, I'm excited to see what I come up with too, lol, along with seeing everyone else's work! It's awesome to see that there is someone else that also loves the same games as me! Also, I really hope that I can have a frog, yeah, even if it's just a minor role ^-^

(+1)

Omg, I went to go follow you and realized you're the person who made transaction failed! I really enjoyed playing it, thanks for making such a great game! Everything in it was so well done,  and even though I got confused at some parts, I actually feel like that added to the experience. I really hope to see what you make in the future, and potential in this Jam!

(+1)

tysm <3 yeah there are some rough ends but through the process i learned that i love making games!! i'm getting my hands on pico-8 right now. i hope i can tell my stories better this way :>

i won't participate in this jam but in another one in a few days (nonbinary game jam 2022). i'm excited for this!!

i'll be sure to try your project when it's ready <3

I'll be sure to look out for yours as well!

1. Hello, hello! My name is EpisodicChaos and I’ll be working with Oxygentleman (who doesn’t have an Itch.io profile, so he’s having me manage everything here).

2. I’d honestly never heard of you all until today. I was refreshing my dashboard after publishing something, and I noticed that Itch had recommended this jam to me. I took a look and it sounded like fun, so I passed it on to Oxy and here we are.

3.I’d say my biggest influences have been Cube Escape, Submachine, OFF, and the weird little narrative platformer games you’d find on game sites before the demise of Flash. They brought me into strange little worlds to tell a story, and its an experience I’d like to replicate.

4.Most of my experience with digital game development has been from my courses, using programs such as Twine and Gamemaker with one Python CYOA game. Oxy’s latest platform of choice has been Gamemaker as well, so that’s likely what we’re going with.

5. I love writing and especially worldbuilding; its fun to get to work on answering a question about a setting…and then another…and then another…until the entire thing has grown into a full-fledged project.

6. Oxygentleman and I want to learn how to work together on games in preparation for a larger project of ours. That and I want to get better at making and realizing concepts on a shorter deadline.

1. My name is KaiseStuka, I'm a student of engineering in system

2. No, my first time in a Jam, I expect to win a little experience making games by joining me in this Jam.

3. Undertale, Sekiro, Deltarune, Doki Literature Club, and Undertale inspire me, a created my own game, because of all the effort of Toby Fox deposit into his masterpiece.

4. It's my first time, I don't have experience

5. Study history and program.

6. Win the experience necessary no create my own game.

1. Hi there! What's your name? Want to introduce yourself?

Hiya, my name is Sugar and I'm a writer. It's a pleasure to meet you all.

2. Did you participate in the last jam we held? If so, what do you plan on doing better this time? If not, what's your reason for joining?

This is my first jam! I don't have a particular reason outside of thinking it would be fun to be a part of!

3. What games are your favorites? Did any of them inspire you, or made you want to make your own?

My list is staggeringly extensive. And I think in the same way each class in school leads to your overall education, each game you play builds on your influences.

4. Do you have experience with game development? What did you do/with what engine?

Some. I've worked with many, though I've never made anything close to a full game or even a demo. I've played around a lot writing c++ programs but command terminal games can only be so fun.

5. Tell us about something you're passionate about!

Well, what a tough question. Again I think I might have too many to list. I'm certainly passionate about this Jam right now!

6. What are your goals for this game jam?

To actually make a game!

Submitted(+1)

1. My name is SleepySheepy(not leaking my actual name obviously)

2. No I did not participate in the last game jam, I joined because this is my first game jam and it sounds intresting

3. I like to make 2D games, and I had an idea for a really cool concept(you'll see when I submit my submission), so I'll finally be using the idea in the game jam!

4. I have, and I have made several(albeit bad) games, most of which are 2D(3D is harder)

5. Game development

6. I want to participate in my very first game jam and have fun :)

Hi! My name is Odrag.

This is the first game jam that i participate. I wanna learn more about game-dev, so I think that participating in this jam would be a good beginning.

I don't have any specific game inspiration.

Actually, im currently developing my first game with unreal engine 5.

I have always been pasionated by videogames, and I would love work in game dev.

My goals in this game jam are collect a bit of experience in jams, since is my first one.

(+2)

Hey I'm Shamonic, I've worked with other people on their games but I haven't published one myself and I'm hoping to get rolling on an idea I've had kicking around for a while.

I really like The Quiet Year and similar gm-less TTRPGs, but I'm also used to running a lot of D&D 5e.

My inspiration is post-tech sci-fantasy, where wizards and the like use largely forgotten science to do their "spells". I've got a lot to say about the dying climate and the communities and fights we'll face after climate disaster strikes.

I have done a bunch of QA and playtesting before, but the extent of writing my own game system is adapting rules from other games to homebrew my D&D world, so a lot of 5e D&D.

I'm hoping to get a prototype and some testing done put together from the bits and pieces of notes I've accumulated over the last few years. Not necessarily something publishable, but first steps.

Submitted

Is your project going to be an analogue (that is, pen and paper) campaign setting, then?

Because that rules, and I'll be here in analogue game solidarity.

Yeah, that's the hope. possibly setting up the game in Roll20 or another online TTRPG platform, but I'm not sure what complexities I'd run into with that.

What I want to end up with is a Dice-and-action system, at least one Class Playbook, and if I have time, an introduction adventure.

Hey, my name is Red.

I haven't participated in any game jam yet. My first one is geojam. I want to keep taking part in jams though. So I want to make this my second one after.

I love games where I can create and explore, like Minecraft and City Skylines. I like interactive story experiences like Detroit and What Remains of Edith Finch. I get inspired by city builders the most, and I have always wanted to make one. (A good one that is).

I've dabbled in making my own games for a long time, both analog and digital. I focused on analog a lot though, and made a few interesting board games. I've also run D&D homebrews on and off throughout my life, with the best one lasting about 3 years. Digitally, I have only made crude little games. I have worked with Unity, Godot, max2d, flash( back in the day), twine and Unreal Engine 5. Unreal and Unity are my preferred engines.

I love worldbuilding! I like drawing maps, and making up words and cultures, and filling a world in with history and people. I adored presenting all the things I made in an interactive environment (with d&d). Somewhat related, is that I like filling my noggin with new ideas. Every new idea becomes a tool I can use later when putting a world together.

This is somewhat implied: I want to make a game and put it out there. I want to experience all the things that come with it for myself as well.  I want to put myself al little bit out there as well (like posting this, for instance)

Very much looking forward to this event and the things I'm gonna learn from it.

1. Hi there! What's your name? Want to introduce yourself?

My name is Noah and I am fairly new to game dev and have never actually finished something  but I hope to change that

2. Did you participate in the last jam we held? If so, what do you plan on doing better this time? If not, what's your reason for joining?

No I did not participate in the last jam and I wanted to join to hopefully finish something and see what other people at the same skill level as me make

3. What games are your favorites? Did any of them inspire you, or made you want to make your own?

that's a tough question i have a few favorite games and inspirations I love shovel knight, mega man X, legend of zelda BOTW and as for what inspired me I always wanted to make games and then found the world of devlogs on youtube and got really inspired and it all started there

4. Do you have experience with game development? What did you do/with what engine?

I have tryed making somethings in scratch and have a few failed projects and a few games in the works

5. Tell us about something you're passionate about!

art! I love drawing , painting and when it comes to games I love 16-bit pixel art

6. What are your goals for this game jam?

to finish and be proud of a game

Hey!

1. We’re Brainy Guys, a small studio with big dreams.

2. Yes. Last time, it was our first game jam, and.. well.. our game didn’t even get published. We want to actually finish a game this time.

4. Kind of. We tried Unity, then Godot, then finally settled on PICO-8.

5. Our team is passionate about all sorts of things, but I’m a developer.

6. We’d like to finally finish a game and work on art skills.

1. Hi I'm octogoon and  I am a person

I honestly don't know what else to say lmao

2. This is my first ever game jam, I just joined out of curiosity

3. I honestly can't really decide on what my fav game is, and I wasn't really inspired by specific video games, but more like by game developers I've seen on YouTube like Dani (https://www.youtube.com/c/DaniDev), Barji (https://www.youtube.com/c/BarjiGames/featured), and more.

4. Kind of? I have created many stuff using VBS and other crappy stuff but one that want to get better at is Unity where I have created a really bad game (https://octogoon.itch.io/annoying-cube-game) and some testing stuff

5. Creating things. It doesn't matter what, just creating stuff in general.

6. My goal for this game jam is to try new things like a new game genre that has mechanics that I never made before

1. Hi there! What's your name? Want to introduce yourself?

Hello! My name is Jake I'm 22 and a recent college grad. I'm a composer and want to get into making music for games. I have a lot of experience composing hybrid-orchestral music for many short films and have worked on one game before, but  would love to work more on the music for some of your games!

2. Did you participate in the last jam we held? If so, what do you plan on doing better this time? If not, what's your reason for joining?

I did not, this would be my first game jam.

3. What games are your favorites? Did any of them inspire you, or made you want to make your own?

I take heavy musical inspiration from the Elder Scrolls games, especially Skyrim. Recently, the 2018 God of War soundtrack has been one of my favorites along with Doom: Eternal.

4. Do you have experience with game development? What did you do/with what engine?

I took an entire graduate-level class on composing music for video games where we learned techniques and skills for composing for games as well as learning how to implement the music via Wwise.

5. Tell us about something you're passionate about!

I'm really passionate about telling stories through music and being able to enhance a story and emotions of a game/film through original music.

6. What are your goals for this game jam?

I want to create a great soundtrack for a game that's implemented smoothly and effectively!
You can check out my work on my website: jakedieli.com and email me at jake@jakedieli.com if you would like to connect!

1. Hi there! What's your name?

Want to introduce yourself?

JACPearlbirth. I rather keep my real name private.

2. Did you participate in the last jam we held? If so, what do you plan on doing better this time?

Yes, I believe the last one was Winter Jam 2022?  And I just want to do better overall.

  3. What games are your favorites? Did any of them inspire you, or made you want to make your own?

There's too many to list, but no doubt I've taken a lot of insperation from them, that I can't deny.

4. Do you have experience with game development? What did you do/with what engine?

Okay, "Experience" might be giving my self too much credit. But anyway, I started with Game Maker Studio before switching to Godot Engine

5. Tell us about something you're passionate about!  6. What are your goals for this game jam?

I just need the experience, i'm not really passionate.

7. Any advice to new participants?

Be courteous to your fellow teammate,
Let them know if you got issues and discuss them,
Make sure to write yourself a schedule for each day you're in the jam, but also set it up so you have time for breaks. You don't want to burnout.
And above all else, If it gets to be too much or if it starts getting toxic in your team, don't be afraid to LEAVE. Sure, you might disappoint someone but leaving is more mentally healthier than just sticking around with the bs, in my opinion.

8. What can the admins do to improve your jam experience?

All in all, I think you guys could keep a better eye on people who may be bad apple, just my two cents.

9. What are some of the past works you've made for the jam? Show off your favorites!

On the first Summer Jam I did, which was last year we managed to complete this:

https://mlekoncz.itch.io/dunes-of-time

10. Got any question suggestions? Let us know for next year!

I suggest a question highlighting any mental or physical issues a Jammer may have, I think it's good to know that info ahead of time.

Hi there! What's your name? Want to introduce yourself?

Hi, I'm Roly, and I'm really excited to participate in this jam!

Did you participate in the last jam we held? If so, what do you plan on doing better this time? If not, what's your reason for joining?

Nope - I'm pretty much brand new to game developing haha. I've had some past experience with coding/creating art and 3d modeling, and was looking to get into game development over the summer!

What games are your favorites? Did any of them inspire you, or made you want to make your own?

One of my biggest game inspirations is probably Stardew Valley, but in general I love anything that has unique art and/or is open world.

What are your goals for this game jam?

Honestly... just overcoming the learning curve of all the programs and technicalities, and making a cool game along the way!

1. Hi there! What's your name? Want to introduce yourself?

Greetings, my name is Mikado, experienced software developer, but starting game developer. Had been using Unity for long time,
But hardly managed to finish any project, until I found Matt Hackett book ( How to Make a Video Game All By Yourself).

I suggest for anyone who struggle to finish project To get that book and read it, very helpful.  It contributed in breaking bad habits that led me to usually drop projects before while working on them for the most stupid reasons.

Now, I managed to finish two projects!

2. Did you participate in the last jam we held? If so, what do you plan on doing better this time? If not, what's your reason for joining?

No. This will be the first jam, and my reason of joining is because I think I'm in what is called a "creative slump" due recently started

The weekly game development challenge, and this will be the third one and should start today, but my mind is blank. I thought it will best time to travel around and explore different things, and found this Jam interesting.

3. What games are your favorites? Did any of them inspire you, or made you want to make your own?

I Enjoy a lot of games, mainly Japanese style like Megaman, and Castlevania or Ys, Elden ring, Bloodborne and Dark souls, JRPG..etc

I want to try one day make something like Megaman or Castlevania, and as for 3D the latest YS game.

4. Do you have experience with game development? What did you do/with what engine?

I have experience from tutorials, but with my recent challenge, I realized I knew nothing, and I'm fresh learner.

5. Tell us about something you're passionate about!

I'm passionate about anything related to software development, mostly writing clean code...

6. What are your goals for this game jam?

Break free from creative slump and hopefully continue my Weekly challenge journey, can't stop now...

1. My name is Dominik or just simply Dom. 18.

2. No. This is actually going to my first ever game jam so I'm really excited to be here to try this out! I joined to develop my game making skills further and maybe also meet some people while doing so. I wanted to join a jam for a long while but college distracted me, luckily my course will be done by the time this jam will begin so yay!

3. I love a lot of games and sometimes it can be very difficult to pinpoint but if I had to choose particular ones , Ace Combat 5, Witcher 3, Metal Gear Solid 4, Infamous 2 and Resident Evil 4 would be my top picks. All the aspects of these games inspired me to aim for game development and want to make something similar. And these games will also act as my main inspiration whenever I will work on any future projects. My point is, I love these games.

4. I only really used UE4 and have a decent amount of experience on it for a novice. I took a college course for games so I had a good amount of time to garner experience with the engine. But I only ever finished one single project fully and that one I wasn't very happy about. So I still have a lot to learn about it, mostly when it comes to blueprinting. As mentioned I only finished one project but I did work on others before. My last one was probably my best one but it was barely even a demo by the end. However, I was happy about the mechanics I was able to make for it.

5. Beyond just my passion for games, I'm actually really passionate when it comes to storytelling and writing. I believe that narrative, no matter how little, is vital in a game. It adds soul to the experience and even more of it when that story is fleshed out. My favourite stories I ever experienced were in video games as you have a hand in shaping that story (even when it's not direct). And stories can just be really good besides that anyway. Getting invested into characters and a plotline is one of my favourite things to do.

6. My main goal is to really finish a game. I've only ever completed one game and that was a walking simulator with no mechanics at all. So my goal is to actually be productive and finish it, even if its a demo. Something close to complete is better than not finished.

Or at least make something that someone can at least enjoy.

1. Mice or Mouses?. Just a guy wanting to make games.

2. Nope. I kinda just wanna join any jam I see. I mean, why not?

3. I don't really have a favorite game. If I enjoy it, then it's a good game.

1. Hey  my name is Thetra, I am a teacher from Austria.  (Age 33)

2. Yes I joined the last Jam, I had a blast with it and so I wanted to join again. I want to get back to my beginning - and finishing a 2D Platformer with all the stuff I learnd in my first year of GameDev - so I am dedicated to work my ass off with what I got XD

3. My Favourit Games are Grandia 2, Freelancer, Teranigma, Final Fantasy 14, Journey, Subnautica, Warframe and Conan Exiles.  I like beeing creativ in games, nd at least Conan inspired me to start gamedev. ( I wanted to use the ModKit but it was to instable on my PC so I started learnin Unity instead)

4. I started with Unity last August (2021) and want to us my gathered knowlegde in this Jam. I made some Games for other GameJams too but my  best piece until now would be BearSkull - (you can find it on my Itch page)

5. My passion, in GameDev at least, is in polishin Games. I hate to work with blocks and Capsules - I allways start with a good look and the work on the feel. I love makin good looking Games and put a lot of time into this aspekt.

6. Honestly, I want to make a Game, where Players tell me that they want to play more. I know I won t be able to make all of the Game in 2 Weeks but i try to get 1 or 2 Levels done with Story and some nice Bossfights ... yeah I will try to make some more Advertisement (so basicly how to market a game better to an audience)  making trailers, and art for the Game etc.  (no I won't take money for this Game, I mostly use free resources and i honestly think that cc0 products should not be sold in any way)

For returning jammers:

7. try to make a Game that you know. If you want to try remaking Supermario? Why not - but only take ONE aspekt of it.  keep it simple, and finish a Game, then expand it.

8.  I was very happy the last time, so I got no issues

9. My last and first entry: https://thetra00.itch.io/growwild  I got great feedback on it and feel kinda sad to not work further on it.

10. I d love some  koordinated Discord or Twitch streams, where people can show of their progress, and other jammers can learn and ask how, why, what we are doing.

1. Hi there! What's your name? Want to introduce yourself?
Halloo! My name is Laurie

2. Did you participate in the last jam we held? If so, what do you plan on doing better this time? If not, what's your reason for joining?
I did not participate! Because I'm very new to game development, I like the idea of game jams giving me a time limit to finish the project I'm working on. I'm great at coming up with ideas and getting a third to halfway through a project then wandering off. Sigh...

3. What games are your favorites? Did any of them inspire you, or made you want to make your own?
Story-based games will always be my anthem. Any platform or medium as long as it's got a story that grabs me I'm into it! I love games that tie mechanics into narrative --like Portal or Inscryption where the story wouldn't exist without the game mechanic and vice versa

4. Do you have experience with game development? What did you do/with what engine?
I am VERY much a baby dev--I've played with Twine and GB Studio and that's it! (I also wrote a D&D module and a Monster of the Week one-shot, not sure if that counts) I made a Twine game to go along with the Monster game and made a GB Studio game for the Secret Santa game jam last holiday season

5. Tell us about something you're passionate about!
Coffee. I could drink gallons of the stuff--oh, wait. I do

6. What are your goals for this game jam?
I want to grow my overall skills as a developer; get a better sense of pacing in my dev cycle; finish the dang thing!; have people play my game and think it's cool

3. What games are your favorites? Did any of them inspire you, or made you want to make your own?

This is a very broad question! I would be hard-pressed to pick a favorite, but I love everything from Uncharted to Red Dead, Salt and Sanctuary to Super Meat Boy, AAA's and Indies (Even though I am actively trying to play more indies lately).

4. Do you have experience with game development? What did you do/with what engine?

I have very little experience. I started learning Construct a month or so ago, and I am trying to practice and learn everyday.

Video games of course! And I am also a passionate hiker and love the outdoors, exploring new things and just life in general!

6. What are your goals for this game jam?

Honestly, just to finish something. Ever since started learning Construct I have so many projects I am actively working on, but I have not finished anything. I want to use this opportunity to make something small and focused and actually finish it!

Hello, my name's Renphis! (not legal)

2. Did you participate in the last jam we held? If so, what do you plan on doing better this time? If not, what's your reason for joining?

No, I've always been mildly interested  in game development but have been a bit afraid, hopefully this little excursion will help dispel some of those fears.

3. What games are your favorites? Did any of them inspire you, or made you want to make your own?

I enjoy a wide variety of games, but im particularly fond of sprawling  3D rpgs (Elders Scrolls, Mass Effect, Divinity, Dragon Age, Fallout, etc.), I also really enjoy rogue likes/lites (Binding of Isaac, Hades, Risk of Rain), Visual Novels/Dating Sims, MMOs, randomly i'll go out of my comfort zone and play an FPS or something. I have a long list of games and genres I appreciate!

Next to nothing, I've dabbled in the past a bit with RPG Maker VX Ace and half-heartedly tried to learn pygame.

5. Tell us about something you're passionate about!

I'm really into making good art and making/looking at beautiful things!

6. What are your goals for this game jam?

To finish something (even if i think it's subpar) and engage with the community a lil.

1. Hi there! What's your name?

My name is Chelsea its nice to meet you!

2. Did you participate in the last jam we held?

This is my first ever game jam!

3. What games are your favorites?

I love Sonic the Hedgehog and Fire Emblem. I'm also quite possibly addicted to 2048.  Also a big LoZ: Age of Calamity fan

4. Do you have experience with game development? What did you do/with what engine?

I've never developed a game before but I just finished a course on game production where I learned how to work with a team of devs to create a mobile game!

5. Tell us about something you're passionate about!

I love singing and playing my violin. I really enjoy music and reading books.

6. What are your goals for this game jam?

I am not a game developer (read: not a coder or an animator LOL), but I am interested in game production and would love to join a team to help facilitate the game production process and help a team achieve its goals! :D  On the side, I am also a musician, composer, professional writer and artist, so I can help out with those things

1. Hi there! What's your name? Want to introduce yourself?

Hey all! I'm Trystan. In my day job I write about and teach philosophy, with a focus on the ethics of computing technologies.

2. Did you participate in the last jam we held? If so, what do you plan on doing better this time? If not, what's your reason for joining?

Nope! I'm new to video game development. I'm keen to learn more, especially as I'm thinking about new teaching methods—I would love to teach an intro-level course that explores basic computer programming and the social contexts of computing through game development.

3. What games are your favorites? Did any of them inspire you, or made you want to make your own?

I mostly play tabletop RPGs—I started with D&D in 2000 but my current favourites are Fate Condensed and Fellowship. As far as video games go, I love the Legend of Zelda series and Stardew Valley. The fantasy adventure genre inspires me to create  ✨🧙‍♀️

4. Do you have experience with game development? What did you do/with what engine?

I've made a few small tabletop RPGs, but this will be my first video game design.

5. Tell us about something you're passionate about!

I love game design, writing, and teaching!

6. What are your goals for this game jam?

My goal is to finish a minimum viable product of a dungeon crawl game, loosely modelled after the "Basic/Expert" edition of D&D from 1981. I'm using GB Studio as my engine because I like the constraints of the Game Boy and the programming required is pretty minimal.

1. my name is jaymac01 and this is my first game and game jam.

2. no I didnt participate in the last game jam. my reason for joining is to encourage myself to make something in a limited amount of time

3. too many favorites. but one game that inspired me was UNDERTALE.

4. no experience. but i'll probably use unity.

5. i am passionate about playing games.

No, just heard about it

3. What games are your favorites? Did any of them inspire you, or made you want to make your own?

Recently been into roguelike/lites, simple games that are repayable and you improve at over time. Games like FTL or Slay The Spire are good examples of differing genres within roguelike elements to them.

4. Do you have experience with game development? What did you do/with what engine?

Very little. About three weeks with Unity, messed with Godot a while ago, but focusing on Unity right now.

5. Tell us about something you're passionate about!

Right now, my family. Everything else is are just side hobbies.

6. What are your goals for this game jam?

Make something, anything. Everything I start I've abandoned so far. Perhaps a deadline might get me to stick with an idea for more than a day.

Hello There! My name is Gavin and I have wanted to be a game dev since I was about 7. Some of my reasoning for joining this jam was because I had gotten a new engine (gameguru MAX) and wanted to test the visuals. I had no real inspiration for this game, mainly because I don't know any other walking sims. I usually make my games in BIMA (https://www.blackicemod.org/ ) since I know the engine very well and have made/will be making more games in it. I'm really passionate about this, and game development is something that I want to do for a very long time. My goals for this jam are to impress people with the work of a 13 year old.
