Holy crap, this is impressive. Well deserved spot!
I have no idea how you managed such effect. I can imagine doing this with raycasts and instantiating dots where they landed but that cannot be the right way...
Very cute game. Love the atmosphere and the writing. The artstyle is quite charming. Also good job on the original music, I especially liked the lo-fi one from the graveyard.
I would have preferred if the gost moved faster. It took a loong time to get across the map. It adds to the atmosphere to spend more time walking through the town but for a jam game I think it's better if it can be finished quickly.
Amazing game! Really fun and original. Incredible quality for a gamejam. There is a lot of polish put into it with the detailed tutorial, voiceover and opening cutscenes.
One issue I had was that some of the objects (mostly lamps) had small hitboxes and were sometimes difficult to click on.
I had a funny bug on the last level where 2 people went outside to calm down and then just stayed there spinning around eachother :P
Thank you! Glad you liked it.
I enjoy using the pixel shader (though it's not a shader but a simple solution to hard-cap the game resolution) as I like how it looks and it allows me to make simple sprites without much details (and I'm not much of an artist). I know some people don't like it and I thought of giving an option to disable it but I was concerned there would be too much of a difficulty difference when playing with and without it.
Amazing game! The atmosphere is incredible. Very scary. Being able to only play once is a great trick and adds to the tension a lot. The pixelize effect works great (I like using it too :p ).
My only issue (despite me being a wuss and playing horror games with 20% volume) was that the later notes were very hard to read for me especially since it seemed that after picking them up they kept getting blurrier.
Thank you! Glad you had fun.
If you have 2 clues that means that each contact will be doing both actions, each 50% of the time, not that there are 2 contacts one clue for each contact. I have it explained in the game description though I definetly should have done a proper in-game tutorial explaining it.
So if one of the clues is unkown you still can find someone doing that action 50% of the time and based on them see what the other action is, no guessing needed.
Nice game. A very cool idea. Great atmosphere. Though I didn't really know how to switch from computer to room view. Pressing the red X would usually just stop the audio.
Some small bugs I found:
The 'replay intro' button went to a black screen and I had to reload the game.
You can resubmit the same text multiple times for an easy win.
Very nice game. Love the visuals, the main menu looks amazing.
A simple change that could improve the gameplay (in my opinion) is to lower the speed of enemy bullets and player movement speed considerably. It would benefit from being more of a bullet-hell as now the shots are too fast to dodge reactively leaving running in circles as the only option.
It would also be nice to be able to hold down mouse to shoot.
Great job oberall.
Very fun game, loved the artstyle and the gore enemies leave behind. I really like action roguelikes so it's right up my alley. I got a score of 369 but had issues with lag. The enemies seem to sometimes spawn inside the obstacles where they cannot move or be killed. Still, with some tweaks and more content it's definetly a game I could see myself buying on steam for a few $.
Thank you!
Yeah, i'm aware that just brute forcing your way can often be better (timewise, definetly not death-wise ;) ). That's what the assasins are for - to disincentivise just randomly bumping into people. But then you just try again so it's not a big setback. The solution I'm considering is having a limited amount of 'lives' that once depleted force you to start from the beginning. Having to directly guess a person would work as well though it would require more setup.
Anyway, the intended playstyle of observing the crowd and avoiding bumping into people you are unsure about definetly works and is way more fun :)
Very cool game, had a lot of fun beating it. Love the cute visuals. The presetation is top notch overall.
Some small bugs I encountered.
Some enemies were stacked on top of one another. I think it happened only with fries.
After beating the game and choosing restart you start again with all your previous fruits. You still choose new ones and they are added to the end of the formation but you can't proceed because you cannot click them.
Awesome game. I had a lot of fun playing. It really shows that you don't need beautiful assets to make a game with cool aesthetics.
The idea with each enemy having their own music is great. Though I felt that the sounds enemies make have different BPM than the music making them not really fit together (I could be wrong though).
Two small issues:
Volume slider is back to initial position after reentering settings menu.
I found the sound when clicking a button in menus quite unpleasant. I think lowering it's pitch would be nice.
These are very minor though. Amazing job overall!
Very cool game! Amazing amount of polish and content for a 48h game. Love the many different abilities.
The dice have square colliders which makes sense of course considering they are squares... but makes it impossible to make accurate off the wall billard-style shots which personally I would prefer.
I encoutered a bug where after a level no skill cards appeared and I had to reload.
Awesome game overall! One of the bast I played in the jam.
