What you could do is make it so by absorbing the enemies it would slow down the actual player until he is just frozen and you move him with the swarm, eventually adding abilities to the swarm as he gains more control of it and less of himself until he realizes that the potion turned him into the swarm and gave his body to the person who gave him the potion :)
Alternatively you could do a much shorter one, my friends are still in college so the only way we have been reasonably able to do a game jam was with the trijam which is like every weekend. You get 3 hours per person to do whatever coding or art or audio and you leave the rest to your friends, you get a whole weekend (friday to sunday) to put in these hours so it leaves time for family as well :) (people do tend to want you to use html5 or other online programming languages though and it can be hard to switch to from java :p)
No, that is valid, originally I was going to make all the words solid objects and have various different ways to get up like wall jumping, vehicles, and pipes/portals but since I was actually unable to get any code in myself it wound up looking different. A lot of them are words or areas that otherwise stand out though such as links and dates or bars and stuff :P
Nice, very fun and it works well but when the guy is on the sides of the bed he just looks forward and it might be better to make him turn towards the camera, adding in some sounds like for death or when he disappears could help too, also allowing him to spawn by the tv or lamp would make the game a bit better :D
