actually A stands for attack in our game
(thank you for your detailed review i am going to be living off of that A for effort high for a while!)

i love your artstyle so much!! the combined atmosphere of cute and internet-y is veery unique and the gameplay fits into all that sooo nicely! it feels like an OS in the universe of some another game :D
the only criticism thing i have is that controls could feel a bit nicer for a platformer, but that's it
this one totally goes to my favorites<3
the game loop is very well developed and the overall atmosphere is just perfect!! that super cool brutal manly violence is just sooo broforce to me and i love it!!
the biggest flaws for me were balance things: overall difficulty, biomass affecting speed too much, melee being superior to guns, - all that; also this (i think) "enemy beans getting stuck somewhere so it's impossible to kill them" glitch softlocked me from progressing twice, too bad!
this one is very truly really cool, just needs more polish
i kinda expected for the human amalgamation to be a bit more like an eldritch enormous meaty substance with mouths, eyes and hair mashed all over the place, where internal organs are going external, while being soaked in it's own neverending stream of bodily liquids, and constantly melting so much, the human features become more and more unrecognizable; but oh well, the game was very fun and unique still.
i really enjoyed your game (very unique and surprisingly fun!), and i think it would make up for a really good anxiety-ness simulator!! :D (just suggestions, no pressure!)
- you could make the mail randomly generated (so that the letters "never" repeat)
- have a biggier and tickier clock (so it's more anxious, of course!)
also the timer rn feels kinda detached from what you're doing, so maybe make it like 30 seconds per envelope? (so you would go to the next envelope only after finding a match to the previous one? or smth?) - have heavier music (the one right now totally doesn't fit doing federal crimes)
- maybe even make the hands more panic-y, maybe shaky even when you're close to running out of time
so what do you think?
it's really tiring for me to do a lot of braining in a row, so i it kinda took me 3 day-long breaks to finish this game, but i did it! \o/ and i really enjoyed it! it looks and sounds very playful +having a lo-fi hip-hop radio is always great! just the idea of i's being produced, flipped and merged, to create complex words is super exciting to think about :D my favorite thing was creating little departments that created essential parts for a group of letters and then combining and twisting them to get the entire word :D
though it was really frustrating trying to figure out x's and t's (and even n's in the end, i always ended up getting z's), so maybe have some hints on the store page? or in the game? because a lot of the time i felt like i'm in a deadend and there is nothing i can do to progress any further. (which is maybe partially why it took me so long to finish the game)
anyways, really exciting stuff! definitely one of the potential winners! would be really interested in playing a more "full" version
ps. with each ? we stay further away from god
the paint artstyle is so unique and pretty! the music and sound effects gave me inner peace c: i just sat back for a moment, doing nothing, just looking at the game and listening to the music, one of my favorite presentations so far!<3
as for the gameplay, the idea of having environment to react to your hp was implemented great! the platforming was fun, but it could be a bit more polished (that long fall really needed some indication imo). also it would be really neat to know when regeneration happens. also also, a small thing, but i unconsciously pressed the esc key as soon as i saw it and quit the game (not sure if that's a useful key to teach the player :P)
thanks for making this game, it was a really fun and comforting experience!
that was really interesting! sharing thinks about things in a form of visual novel is not your typical game :P i really like the surrealness of art and narration, and how the thoughts don't explain themselves too hard
the game's ui does feel kinda preset-y, and sometimes text goes a bit too close to the bottom ui, but those r small things
really great job on your game! it surely was an experience
i also am very bad at following simple instructions and i did go into controls from options and broke the game. so i kinda wrote a step-by-step guide on clearing playerprefs for this game (so that it forgets that thing you did)
1.win+r, type in "regedit", click OK or press enter
(now you have registry editor opened! that's where unity games store their playerprefs!)
2.next you want to go edit>find, then type in "twobraincells" (without the quotation marks)
3.click "find next", wait, it might take some time
4.you should be taken to the folder named accordingly ("twobraincells")
5.next, you want to delete the subfolder "ribbons", or the whole "twobraincells" folder (be cautions, this is the registry editor, and click your clicks carefully). as long as you don't delete anything else, your pc should be fine.6.return to the game, buttons should be back to working!
the game was really beautiful and atmospheric, as far as this jam's games go this one surely was set best, with it's story and environment, context etc. if i could, i would've given six stars for presentation!! but i felt conflicted about the platformer puzzle things - the idea with using speech bubbles as platforms is really cool, but platforming feels harsh (compared to everything else in game!), i just wanted to get over the puzzles as fast as possible to get to the next story bit, +controls felt unintuitive and hard (dash destroyed my pinky, arrow keys would be a way way better solution!)
everything but the platforming felt nearly perfect, reaaally great job!<3
(oh god i just did a third edit)
absolutely horrific
also cute
idea *feels* obvious, but i haven't seen anyone do that, so great job! the execution is nice, but it kinda felt like the ball affects how i move more than i do? which makes sense, but it just doesn't feel that great. i also like how you can stand on the ball to go higher, or maybe create a little island for yourself to survive the water.
just saying, i would've played a post-jam build with more polish? maybe? :P (no pressure!)
i love how it's surreal in a comforting way. most games that go surreal have that creepy vibe to it and this one doesn't, really atmospheric and unique. i also enjoyed the music and how it layers, would gladly add it to my spotify playlist!
*spoilers, i think*
so, does it have an end? i got to the point where the narrator started speaking gibberish, then kinda decided that i need to go back to the beginning and then mashed the esc key a bit too hard and now the entire tab is just purple. i've been playing for at least 30mins, it would be reaaally sad if i just didn't get the ending. if there isn't an ending, i think this game really needs one. it would be like a complete game that you can sell for 2$ on steam
i think this one wins
your game leaks memory!! (about 200mb each second!!!!)
i probably was able to finish it without crashes because i had 16gbs on my PC, and i was pretty hasty with the game!
that sure does explain the crashes other commenter described! (not the errors tho, i didn't have any errors)
as for the game itself it's pretty short and sweet. but i would like a restart button for when you fail miserably, also mouse sometime needs to go past the window borders, and then the game just doesn't register it's position anymore, which is kinda annoying, but you can always just use the other golf ball.
i love the dank night mood this game creates! it kinda reminds me of night in the woods.
the sound design is *amazing* and is really fitting with the cute and simple art, while still creating this unique atmosphere
however, the gameplay is a bit uncertain to me, and i got softlocked on the level shown on the 4th screenshot with seemingly no way to progress any further. too bad!
