Controls in the description now, hopefully, I'll find some time to have them show up in-game.
Also, I used boids and some other mechanics to make the fish act the way they do. Since I've updated them, I think they're maybe even more interesting now. I'd super encourage you to mess around with boids if you were enjoying the fish though they can be really fun
Good luck to you as well!
Fun little game, I can't quite tell why the levels are changing but I like it, whether it's full-on crazy procedural stuff or generating out premade chunks it's nice not having to do the same thing over and over if I can't get through it. Wish it was a little more obvious from the get-go what the various items did without needing to sit through a tutorial.
Super polished and responsive game, it reminds me of WarioWare which is a game series I've always absolutely loved. Sadly I have an Xbox controller rendering the controller prompts almost completely useless. Maybe beforehand having a popup of a controller highlighting the necessary buttons for the task would help with that? Although that isn't the most elegant of solutions. Better communicating how each little task is played would be fantastic, if you do this let me know I'd love to try it with that!
Really interesting idea, feels super cool to play and satisfying to finish the levels. Sadly halfway through I just gave up because it was so difficult. Having some visible "anchor points" or "landmarks" might make it a little easier to not give up. That or giving lives or checkpoints maybe? I think it has the potential to be a really beautiful game with a little more time put in!
Oh my god, you spent 20 minutes playing my game that's bonkers, especially in the jam version. I thoroughly enjoyed the vid. It was entertaining and really nice to hear someone else's thorough thoughts on the game. Sadly I kinda over scoped for having started late, but most of the later work I did was just laying foundations for making adding more stuff easier. So there's undoubtedly more to come!
Thanks a ton for the feedback! The atmosphere is probably my favorite part about this game. As for the surprise captures, I was crunched for time and kind of just ignored the problem of getting sniped across the map by pieces, after the Jams over I'll update it. I already have a version with that working and some other pretty rad changes.
This is probably the most fun I've had playing someone elses Jam game, starting off I was a little skeptical of the art though. The gameplay was super fun though, the music was nice too, I ended up playing through the whole thing, I especially thought the oxygen bar was a cool idea for essensially health. My biggest gripe is probably that the portals were pixel art and that seemed weirdly out of place. Super fun though!
I really liked the sounds for this game, super visceral. Overall the game was a spin on an interesting concept. Maybe having other identifiers for when monsters are coming like footsteps running toward you could add to the enviornemnt. I also feel like having a more diverse level layout would be nice. Overall, I enjoyed playing and I think this concept has a lot of potential.
I love the concept of this game and the art looked super nice in screenshots, sadly I think the size of the html window distorted the pixel art. It also took me a bit to start using the mechanics in the first few simpler levels. By the end though using the mechanics to get through the level and getting all the coins was really fun!
