Unreal Engine's "dynamic mesh" feature let us create a disc and control it's vertices. Using the mouse as input, I loop through points that are a certain radius away from it and apply an offset in the direction it moves. (That offset fades off towards the edges to keep it smooth)
To prevent the mesh from folding over itself, I apply a "mesh smooth" a bunch of times per second. That's what's causing it to "settle back" as you said :D

Haha! We didn't really playtest above a certain scale, y'know, because game jam.
I think the planets start passing through the pizza because their size doesn't increase while their gravity does.
The cursor spazzing out sounds like floating point errors that are expected to happen at this ludicrous scale.
Anyway, thanks for playing! I'm glad you liked it. Releasing this for mobile does sound like a mighty great idea!
Thanks a lot!
The dough was created with a relatively new tool in Unreal Engine called "Geometry scripting". I was messing around with it a bunch before the jam, so when we discussed the idea for the pizza, I knew I should use what I've learned!
and in fact... we do make more games! If you're into VR, consider Googling "Outta Hand" :D
I like the idea. Looks like something Bennet Foddy would make!
I couldn't understand how to control the character though.
I read the instructions and I press the right buttons, but the character keeps snapping and swinging all over the place.
Something in the movement system requires some more work I feel like
The movement is strange! I kept passing through walls and colliding with stuff made me go super fast for no apparent reason. BUT, I did enjoy this game! The moment I realized I could eat the rats from behind was the moment I started having fun! This idea should be explored further!
If you'd like to check out our game, you are more than welcome to! :D
