I liked a lot the concept the art, good game

Well I just noted that picking any color in the original image, filling the canvas with it and then submitting in crunch mode, I got higher scores than in indie mode by actually trying. Like, 23000 instead of 8000 or something?

But to be honest it actually added to the fun; at the beginning I did try my best to get close to the original images, but at some point I just drew them badly, and me and my friends had a heckin’ blast doing so!

Also it’s one of the few games I saw that look actually finished; got the menus, game settings, transitions, a bit of lore, even an option for a dyslexia font (though I’m not sure it really helps with the wavy shader).

Thanks for the experience!

the vibe is immense

Nah bro this game is way too fun, I got 7307 points, I wish the sprites to draw were more actual objects rather then some absract pictures. Overall very fun game!!

dang, good score! I wish so too, sadly it's tricky finding tons of free images that aren't AI generated these days. Thanks for playing!

The twist on the theme is EXTREMELY creative!  I'm not sure if I'm doing good or bad just by seeing a number at the end.
Perhaps the score can be a percentage instead of amount of pixels or whatever it is now?

Feel free to check out our game if you'd like :D

This is a cool idea for a game !
I am the pixelartist for our game and really enjoyed this game, it reminded me a bit of aseprite.
This is a very interesting and nice submission, good job !!!

Developer

thanks! I tried to take what I could from Aseprite's design since I knew most devs would immediately catch on to the premise

A great idea, and well executed. The music was getting me so hyped up to shrink those sprites! I was so engaged I didn't even realize the scoring was totally bogus until after I finished. Fantastic work.

Developer

haha yeah, turns out it's pretty complicated to calculate how "similar" two images are. I'm glad it's not immediately obvious though lol. Thanks for playing!

I really enjoyed it and found it funny how literally the theme was taken.

Neat idea!! I love the look of it and the soundtrack had me jamming so hard i forgot I was on a timer

Super awesome game and very creative idea! I loved the scoring and the variety of images that we got to "downscale"! After a couple runs with different templates I even saw some improvement with my sprite generation ;)

Developer

hi! Thanks so much, I'm glad you enjoyed!

this game would be really cool for someone who is good at this. now me, i just kinda scribble.

great game, would love to see a way to show people your designs, could even be fun with multiplayer in the future. seems like a jackbox game.

Developer

thanks for the feedback. I totally agree that this could potentially be a jackbox-type game, but perhaps the other way around? You get given a low-res sprite, all players try and upscale it and then vote on whose is best

Submitted

that would be really cool, or even you just make a whole pack of party games involving scale and put that up for people to play, i would love to see the horrible messes people come up  with.
