This game was made in like a week for a game jam and was never revisited to clean it up

Thanks for all the nice compliments and feedback!
Yeah I initially had the dialogue skip/progress bound to the Enter key.... I have no clue why I decided to change it to the Space key...
The tutorial for those blocks is definitely something we thought of immediately when seeing others play the game.. It is something I would definitely add in if given the chance since that mechanic just sneaks up on you.
You are correct with the time constraints regarding the chaos orb. The initial plan was to make an entire "game mode" around that mechanic instead of it just being a pickup item. Like a "Chaos Mode' that you can choose from. Basically we ran into the age old issue of over-scoping and had to change somethings midway / last minute which caused more issues.
Once again thanks for all the feedback!
Sorry about the bug! There are several bugs I tried to scrub out at the very last minute involving character state and physics and I feel like I just made them worse haha. The UI bug I didn't notice until after I submitted as well which is an easy fix so I am sad I missed that.
Additionally.... balance is.... hard.. LOL or I thought we would be able to go through an balance everything on the last day or 2 but oh boy it didn't work out that way. One of the regrets is not spending more time on that throughout the entire design process.
It is something we plan on going back and cleaning up everything but I think our plan is to turn the design direction into more of a bullet hell metroidvania opposed to a hardcore platformer.
Thanks for all the feedback!
This game is very interesting.
I really enjoy rogue-likes. And in this game, I really like how you handle dying by taking away a room. That is a pretty cool idea.
The art was very cute and I enjoy bae's animations.
The harshest part for me was the combat as it can be hard to telegraph attacks and prevent getting hit by enemies in melee range.
Good job it would be cool to see a polished version of this!
I love Slay the Spire Math Monopoly!
Jokes aside, I actually think this is a pretty cool idea.
(I'm not a huge fan of Math kind of ironic coming from a programmer)
But I think this could be honestly an educational game for a younger audience.
I like the niche powerups you get as well. I've always preferred niche build type of powerups opposed to super generic ones.
The only "bug" i had really was some clipping audio. So to me it seems like you did quite a lot to this game in a relatively short amount of time.
Good job I like it!
I think this game has potential. I like the randomly generated levels and the different powerups.
Although, I don't know how many different powerups there were. If there was one to make the AOE explosion bigger and not just the lines that would be great!
Some improvements could be some other movement options or a faster movement speed to compensate for the fairly large levels. Or the map size in general could be a little smaller.
There is also some lingering hitboxes from the explosion that caught me offguard a few times!
Mr squeaks enemies seem very non threatening. maybe they could have been faster or spread out some bombs more chaotically or even threw them!
But overall pretty cool concept I enjoyed.
I enjoyed this game and all of the references!
I think this is something that could easily be expanded upon and as someone has already mentioned adding "synergies" would be a really nice touch.
The slay the spire type of formula works really well here.
The audio/static was a bit grading at times. But overall it is very nice!
I love the music and I never thought a janken type game could feel addicting. But the wave-time constraint makes it really fun! Not to mention adding a leader board to appeal to people wanting to get a competitive fix is a pretty good idea!
The game also looks really good and is presented very well.
I enjoyed this a lot!
Yeah, the rounds ending early sometimes and the UI bug you mention are both bugs we were aware of happening due to things not resetting properly. We weren't able to fix them, among some other planned additions, prior to the deadline unfortunately. Thanks a bunch for the feedback and playing the game! I will be sure to check out your submission when I get a chance.
