Unique and challenging game! The art is fantastic and its very different from everything else in the jam. I would suggest having the mouse not be able to leave the game window as that was a little frustrating but I think with a little tighter controls this game would be really fun to play further. Awesome job.
Really funny writing in this! Even though I couldn't mix all the potions, I had fun reading all the requests. I think this is a really clever idea for a game and this jam specifically. One of the better uses of theme/limitation. The writing of the contracts and the sassy assistant was super funny. I would love to someday play a more polished version of this game. Also good job on visuals and music. Aside from a little bit of buggyness with my potions not showing up in the storage, I would also suggest a "remove" button for mixing potions in case you choose the right thing, and then just not show its effect until after its mixed. Good game though, clever and funny idea. Also cool to see Ren'Py represented!
Tactical RPG is not my jam but I had fun playing this game and the art/sounds/gameplay were all super clean for a game jam game. Maybe having a different color health bar for the enemies like they do for their path icons would be helpful in telling them apart. Other than that, very cool game with great art and sound. Super job.
One of the better looking games in the jam! Music and art are fantastic. Good use of theme and limitation. The gameplay though I think needs a little work because there didn't seem to be a consequence or real challenge. If the witch could die or there was some kind of timer or enemy against the witch, I think that would help. But solid presentation overall, good job!
Pretty neat game! Might need a seizure warning on it though, the flashes are pretty crazy. I had fun playing it though I think there could be more consequences for the player such as worker death or janitor health because eventually the game just played itself and my score kept going up. But very cool animations and art, good job!
Really cool game! I love the aesthetic and pixelated character models. Reminded me a bit of Inscryption in the card play. Is it a deckbuilding game? Like is it a random draw every time with a discard with the deck being cycled through?
My only real critique is I'd like the UI to be a little more clear about the damage I was doing to the opponent vs what the opponent was doing to me.
But solid use of theme and limitation. Very cool game.
Thanks so much for your feedback! Really appreciate you playing the game. Yes, its very difficult. That was partially by design and partially by accident as I really enjoy rage quit platformers and don't realize most people do not LOL. The game absolutely needs checkpoints, I 100% agree. That's one of the things we'll be adding if we keep adding to this game but we just ran out of time (we submitted with 1 min to spare :) ). The player controller is a little rough around the edges and the sliding is extra frustrating so that will be adjusted too. If I add more levels to the game, I'll probably make about 3 levels prior to the 3 in the game to get players acclimated. The game definitely starts out too difficult for most.
Very cool game! Its a really clever idea that I think would do really well on mobile if you could design more levels and maybe some other abilities for variation. My only real critique is that the levels either feel very easy or very challenging without much middle ground. And it didn't seem like the placement in where the level was in the hierarchy had much to do with difficulty. So, I think rearranging them could help with that and maybe designing some levels with a ramping difficulty curve. I played up until the final 3rd to last level and got stumped, but its a really fun, simple puzzle game. Good job!
PS there was a bug that I found on one of the levels where a block would disappear if I pressed my arrows keys to fast. On the same level I was even able to make a block go into the outer wall (the darker blocks).
Great job! The game looks really good, especially for a jam. I also wanted to do this kind of world shifting mechanic but this was my first game and I just didn't have time to finish it but I got a good starting point. Check out sprite masks, you might be able to use it to have alternate tilesets for your spirit state. My biggest critique I think is too just shorten the attack animation because it was pretty hard to attack and not be attacked so I just avoided all enemies, and couldn't beat the boss. Great job though!
