I've never played a game of this genre, and tbh, is very catchy. The 3d art and sound effects are very good, congrats
awesome game cool art and all around great my only complaint is the game needs more clarification of everything i kept running away from enemies because i thought i had to brew a potion go back to them throw it and repeat didn't think it was a turn based game but all around great game really enjoyed it
OH MY GOD THIS IS AMAZING. I love the 3d pixel art style and the battle mechanics are so cool! They're easy to understand, yet complicated. My only real complain I guess is that the movement in the maze feels kinda awkward
WOWY-WOW!!! How can someone make a game like this in 3 days? I had so much fun. I'll probably play this some more later.
My favorite part was probably the card/turn based mechanics. I don't see a lot of games like that in these jams. Incredible job and I loved it.
Practice man. Check out my profile I have over 50 games under my belt.
Really cool game! I love the aesthetic and pixelated character models. Reminded me a bit of Inscryption in the card play. Is it a deckbuilding game? Like is it a random draw every time with a discard with the deck being cycled through?
My only real critique is I'd like the UI to be a little more clear about the damage I was doing to the opponent vs what the opponent was doing to me.
But solid use of theme and limitation. Very cool game.
It is a deckbuilder. When you add cards you're adding them to your deck.
You do the current amount of poison to the enemy every turn. they do x attacks * their strength - whatever weak you put on the
Got it! Very cool I look forward to beating it :)
I just watched your vod.
A. any multiplier card multiplies the value of the stuff already in the pot. so if you use poison x3 on an empty pot, 3 x 0 = 0.
B. the values of the current potion are shown above the cauldron
Really enjoyed the aesthetic of the game. It had a very cool retro, yet new feel to it. I always love deck-building games and actually attempted to make one for a previous jam, but wasn’t able to pull it off. So kuddos to you! I think having some sort of music would help liven it up, however, I do appreciate the atmospheric effect of just the minimal ambience and such. Overall, solid game, and I enjoyed the jam the played when meeting the golden guard!
Really enjoyed this, some of the concepts reminded me of Slay the Spire mixed with old school shooters like Doom.
It was fun, the concept was really good and it was easy to grasp. I would say that the fact that you're a bad dude is arguable (who's to say they're not the evil ones :p).
Very nice work!
I am a big Slay the Spire fan. Defect ascension 19
This is definitely my favorite of the ones i played so far! This one makes me super curious what you would have done with a week of time!
Worry not. In a week you can find out. Check out my submission to Dungeon crawler jam 2023. April 6. By that time I should have more levels and more cards and story
Dungeon crawling, turn based combat AND a poison mixing mechanic?!
WOW.
I love the idea.
Also how do you make these animations? they look amazing!
I didn't! They are part of an asset pack called rpg mechanim animations. Best $50 I've ever spent
Ah okay.
But it doesn't hide from the fact that the combination of the mechanics make for a great game!
This was def one of the most fun games I've played so far in the jam! It's in my top 3. Was this really made in 3 days? That's crazy. I loved this. It was a little too easy, up until the end though that boss battle was fun! It was very fun constantly improving and all.
Actually, the majority of it was made in 2 days. I had some Easter stuff to do with my daughter on Sunday afternoon.
Wow! You astound me! How long have you been developing games?
Since 2002ish. Haha. I used to make Newgrounds games in flash in high school. I've been doing this unity stuff for like 10 years or so.
Wow, that's awesome. After doing game development for so long, have you/are you trying to make it your career or is it something you do as a hobby/for fun in your spare time?
Def a hobby. I work as a software architect and I like what I do. I think if I did games as a career I would hate it.
I see! Why is that?
Love the old school rpg elements . Great fun to play!
Wowser on putting this together in such a short time.
( Could be easily reused for the Dungeon Crawler Gamejam :D )
