Hi!

I'm kind of new to interactive fiction - having played only a couple of parser games before - and a visual novel or two.

I was wondering how exactly do you define IF in this game jam? I mean - I get that it's a game where most of the story and action happens via text, but what about a game where the text is used to interact with characters and objects - but any exploration is handled with a character which can move around freely. Would that also classify as IF?

Yes I made the game myself!
The bug you encountered is well known to me, although it appeared during last hour of deving and I just didn't have enough time to fix it.

I also don't know what exactly is causing that issue but I'm figure it out when I update the game after rhe rating time is over! ^^

I really liked the audio and graphics.
The game itself was hard, but rewarding, which is a plus. Also the fact that you made everything yourself is really impressive :D

Okay first of all - I really liked this game. I really hope that it was intended by you, but - this game was really psychodelic. Graphics, and sound all've beem giving me a really weird vibes. That I honestly loved!

The movement was weird but it fit the world of Rewind. All the "rewinding" mechanics worked really well, and made sense. The jumping was a bit off, but also kinda made sense if the time is all wonky. The murder of old man was something that was really odd for me, because his house felt like it was really off scale (but only up close) and the guid hid somewhere when I was close to the house. This really sent shivers down my spine. But I think it wasn't scripted, right? He just happened to walk into wall for me? XD

What I didn't like was the lighting in golbins's quest. The black walls made it hard to look for goblins. I'd really love to have some kind of light that's emitted from player. would help a lot xD. Also - the maze aspect of that "realm" was hard. And I honestly felt like the maze was getting bigger the more goblins I killed. I got lost in it.

The Dragon's question was difficult for me xD. Because 1. I never heard this riddle before, as I'm not a native english speaker. 2. I'm really dumb. So I had to google it :D

The ending was also nicelly scripted and honestly? Kinda epic.

I'd love to play more of it! Visit bigger world of Rewind and solve some puzzles. Fight more Shreks (btw I really liked this mechanic) and just explore!

Really solid game

Then you might be interested in fact that I'm going to fix issues this game has right now and add new content in post-jam updates.

I honestly like this game. The music was charming, and the graphics were really clean and pleasant :D

It was well programmed too, I haven't encountered any bugs. The only thing that bugs me though (hehe) is that after destroying billboard my small brain wasn't able to figure out that there is a path. The map was also really big, which is kinda sad, cause most of it wasn't used. I'd love to meet more than 3 people.

Overall, "Playback" was a really good game that I'd love to play with more content during "long winter evenings" and I hope that thecreators of this game will continuie to build on the idea :D

yeee it's a bug. somehow it only happens the first time you play

idk why frankly

I am mixed if it comes to reviewing this game. It had nice envinronements, but the AI of enemies was lacking. It also had the stealth aspect which I really like, but at the same time there wasn't really that much I could do with it. No crouching or ways to hide.

Sound design was really good though. I also didn't liked that it sometimes lagged on my really good PC. I think you should work a bit more on optimization. Overall it was okay. But still impressive for just 7 days

I really liked this game, and loved the artstyle although in the third level no zombies spawned all I had to do is catch some people and throw them at the car (btw the "zombie meters" were increasing suuuper fast if two people just stood near each other.

But I think that it's a nice concept, worth updating in post-jam patches

I'm happy you think so :D

I really liked this game. it has nice graphics, and great music. Gameplay is creative and it's something I never played before :D

It's quite hard but I like it. The only thing I'd change is to make the tiles fit more each other. Right now some just look like they are blocking the path (when it isn't the case)

I will definitelly try to improve the game with updates :D

Next up: better AI and less empty map

I hope I'll be able to make this update just as the gamejam rating period is over :D

I really liked this one :D It has a nice art-style, and good gameplay. The 8-bit music was also really cool.

Yee I've just started playing it for the third time XDD
Really, a lot of replayability with random scenes. I love it

I loved this game! It had amazing style, the music fit with the graphics very well

I've beaten it on the second playthrough :D

I hope you will add more levels to it post jam

Thank you for playing my game! <3

(1 edit)

It was really hard (or I just didn't understood it) I honestly couldn't beat the forthlevel after like 20 minutes (this might just mean that I'm absolutelly stooooopid xD)

But yeah - I liked the concept and simplistic yet good looking graphics :D

Overall "darksouls of rewinding time games" or something like that XD keep it up :D

Really nice graphics and sound design. I really didn't liked the fact that enemies spawned the way they did. Sometimes I was attacked from behind and I really couldn't react to that. Also - after reaaally long level I came to those holes in the ground that I had to jump over. sadly - I landed exactly where enemy was - because he spawned there just as I landed. Also, the animations bugged for me once and my character was running in place.

Despite those issues I really liked it

I really liked this game. It had some bugs (like blocks moving through blocks (unless it wasn't a bug. it felt like one tho)) Graphically it was simple, but pleasant.

I liked the artstyle and the atmosphere :D
It was really short, but it hyped me for more! I hope you will finish it after jam

I liked this game. It had cool meachanics, and a nice soundtrack. Only complaint I have is that sometimes enemies spawned too close to the border and even with rewinding time I coouldn't catch them. Other than that the only issue that I met was - when boss spawns I can't rewind, and sometimes the enemies are still on the map which makes me loose if those spawn too close to the border

I liked this game. It had creepy atmosphere, and great graphics. It took me some time to understand what the ghosts were saying to me, but I think that just adding subtitles in after-jam version will fix that problem

Quite a pleasant and demanding game. Though the soundtrack was really repetetive.

I think you should add a shop or something like that where we could buy some new stuff for the stuff we picked up

Thank you :D

I really loved the idea!  There were some instances where triangles spawned so that I couldn't really do much, but there also were times when I didn't have to do anything to win. (soo balanced, as everything should be). I liked the sound design, and graphics :D

I really loved this game. The rewind mechanic was made really well and was intuitive. I also liked the graphcis and sound design. Only problem I encountered was once I got stuck on the wall and had to restart. but instead of starting from the level 3 (that's where I was stuck) I had to start from level 2.

But overall really good game

well about that last dream thing - I know it wasn't well explained, but it's not that you are sleeping. It's that he goes back in time and just thinks it was a dream.

And the guy with paperbag doesn't know where you are, really - he just follows you when he sees you. (I know it wasn't explained either, but you can hide in lockers)

I'm happy you liked it :D

well I can't do anything about it now I think :(
If you can, please download the game to play it

absolutelly loved this game! It has original idea (even though it's a [Crazy Diamond]sim) It has amazing graphics, and great, fitting music :D

I would have never thought that it will be so good game. And it was amazing. Nice music, great mechanics, and the fact that it is a simulator of how it would feell to be the user of [Crazy Diamond] makes it even better!
Also - I loved the artstyle

Played it with some random guy, and it was really, really fun! Great idea, grat game. And the music is amazing xD
I'd love to play more levels

ohh... I see, well, controls are in description of the game, on Itch.io page.

currently - it's a bug.

In future it will be a feature, because I think that I can make really fun puzzles with mechanic like this

This game is quite fun actually, really short, but it has great "old point 'n' click" feel to it ^^ Keep up good work
