VISUAL NOVEL FTW CANNOT WAIT FOR FUTURE INSTALLMENTS AND MORE BRITISH VOICE ACTING.... 🤨🤨🤨
THERE'S SO MANY CHOICES AND SO MUCH DIALOGUE FOR WHAT WAS DONE IN ONLY 2 WEEKS AND OFC SO MANY ALT VERSIONS OF SPRITES AND THE BLINKING ANIMATION ?!??!! VERY VERY BANGER. I ALSO ATE UP THE BACKGROUNDS, THERE WERE SO MANY AND I ENJOYED HOW THEY CONTRASTED WITH THE ACTUAL CHARACTER SPRITES BY BEING A LITTLE LESS DETAILED IN ORDER TO NOT OVERWHELM THE SENSES WHEN PLAYING THE VN. THE COLOR CHOICES ESPECIALLY WERE PLEASING TO THE EYES AND AAAAAAAAAAAAA I CANNOT WAIT TO SEE WHAT YOU PUT OUT NEXT AFTER THE JAM ☆*: .。. o(≧▽≦)o .。.:*☆
WAIT HAHA OK OK I'VE DECIDED I WANT TO YELL INTO THE ABYSS <333 YOU ALREADY KNOW...
THE TITLE AND ENDING AND THE STORY, HELPPPP I'M SO GLAD YOU ADDED THAT TO THE MORE FINALIZED VER. FOR THIS GAME JAM IT REALLY ADDS TO THE OVERALL GAMEPLAY AS AN INTRODUCTION AND END. ALSO ADDING A TUTORIAL, GOTTA ADD THAT TO THE FOR FUTURE REFERENCE CHECKLIST ✅ BECAUSE PREVIOUS GAMER INTUITION CAN ONLY GO SO FAR SOBBB ME AND RAIN WERE BOTH KINDA EXPLAINING HOW THINGS WORK TO OUR PPL /SILLY. BUT OFC OFC IN TWO WEEKS THIS IS HELLA IMPRESSIVE AND AFTER THE JAM, IF YOU REALLY DO GO BACK TO IT OMGGGGGG IMMA EAT IT UP LIKE FETTUCCINE 🍝🍝🍝 MORE CHARACTERS, MORE STORYLINE, MORE EVERYTHING ASDJFLKDSFM <33333333
HATS OFF TO YOU, EAT GOOD FOOD, BECOME KING OF THE PIRATES YAHAHAR ☠️🏴☠️🦜
HELP THIS IS BY FAR MY MOST FAVORITE CLICK GAME AHHH
1000000x better than my egg do not play it omgsjkfljdk
THE BEATS, THE ART, THE GAMING ASPECT, TAMAGOTCHI ?!??! <3333 Literally combining everything good and wonderful into this little game ☆*: .。. o(≧▽≦)o .。.:*☆ I had a lot of fun clicking the poop at the rate of the beats because the OST is literally so good??? I was looking in the description for credits and I'm assuming (OFCCC) that you made literally EVERYTHING by yourself which is really impressive because I love ALL of the aspects so much ohhh my goshh. The music, the art, the concept, the LIMBS. The creature is so cute and I actually love the design choices of the maximum saturated title screen and the small tutorial we get before getting into the game. Very very helpful and nice introduction to the storyline and the gameplay ofc. I also didn't expect the cleaner to be permanent ! Which was a really nice touch, but at the same time I felt like clicking got me more points somehow (or maybe it's my imagination askdflj).
THE LIMB ASPECT!!! I knew what was coming and I love these types of games that kind of immerse the player as an actual piece of the puzzle. Of course I had to get all the endings where either I or my little fella ever got absolutely kerfuffled. THE JUMPSCARE aaklsjfklsdjf I LOVE IT HAHA OMG AND WAIT Lemme talk about the light source and fuzziness/haze too as you fade out of consciousness omg it was such a good effect and really made the point clear where those things were coming from hahaha
OVERALL LITERALLY ONE OF MY FAVORITE GAMES THAT HELD MY ATTENTION HELP <333
ALSO PAY NO MIND TO EGG, PLAY GRASS INSTEAD:
GOT TURNED INTO PIE WAHHHH 😫😫😫JKJK Omg this game was so delicious in art, storytelling, ambiance, and I enjoyed the little bits of choices I had as I do in visual novels. ☝️🤓
I literally have to play all visual novels submitted to jams or else I will never be able to forgive myself ONGGG 👊👊👊 The frequency of the art, the bits of animation and the palette add so much to the presentation! Your style that you have in games and just as an artist in general is so neat and easy to read while keeping my attention drawn taut. The storytelling kept me interested and the premise reminded me of those survival game stories (YTTD inspiration it feels) AH BUT don't get me wrong with me comparing aaaaaa I just like to compare to other media I like in the best type of compliment possible! 😭😭
Also a bit unrelated but I did a little bit of looking in your repertoire of games and you have these types of games down to an artistic science which I adore!! OFC anything made within one or two weeks that comes out like your game right here is impressive even if you weren't able to put everything you wanted into it!! Once this jam is over though, I would love to see what you do if you decide to come back to this idea ^-^
AS FOR GAME AHAAA NO NEED TO PAY MIND TO MY EGG CLICKER 555555, PLEASE PLAY THIS OTHER BEAUTIFUL BLEND OF CODE AND ART INSTEAD:
Omggg!! I really love to hear it when others' play and review games together because, aaghh, Idk it makes the whole experience feel different or more memorable? I'm really glad to hear you both enjoyed it though and it's always interesting to see what people choose for their ending! I love that you guys came to that conclusion haha! Thank you for the praises as well and for trying out our silly little game! ヾ(≧▽≦*)o
REAL VOICE ACTING !! Omg we love to see it. A real person and not AI generated text-to-speech. What I say might be reiterating what others' have also said, but I see the vision and similarities, and that isn't a bad thing ofc! I really enjoy games like these where you have so many choices and then a fun, disembodied voice to give me feedback on those choices haha. Also the fact that you did all the code, story, and voice acting on your own is really amazing?? With all of the paths and branches you can take along with over 6 endings omg... I loved helping you make your horror video game 😁 All the dialogue was really silly and fun and of course all the content you made within the week is impressive! The meta comedy concept really works for this game and I always love to see these types get executed so well. Thank you for making a banger!! It's a really fun and re-playable game ㄟ(≧◇≦)ㄏ !!!!
I ALWAYS have to mention the “from scratch” aspects of indie games!! All of the assets from code to art to music and sound effects, made with effort and time and it shows when you do that. I personally don’t mind the varying pixel art graphics but it wouldn’t hurt to have consistency if planning to continue with this project! The relatability of the game’s overarching concept is so true to life for a lot of people which kinda makes this game appeal even more even if it were without the all of the pretty handmade graphics. I love all the choices you can make and of course the highlight of the game, puppy… Point and click games FTW but also it’s almost visual novel styled as well haha! All the dialogue for the spunky characters shows off my player character’s social battery drainage perfectly and the win of the ending is very satisfying. Overall I really enjoy this game and all the work put into it !!!
Heyo! I think the game my friends and I made are around your game level rating at the moment! We're a little less popular because of how our gameplay is (visual novel aaa), but I hope if you give it a try that you'll end up enjoying it as well! It's only around a 20-30 minute game/story and mostly all the assets are made from scratch! Thank you for looking and I'll be sure to try/rate your game out as well!
I honestly didn't know what to expect at first for this game, but I came out really satisfied and enjoyed this game a lot! I was looking at your credits and having only one programmer and artist do all of this (basically all from scratch at that) in one week is kind of insane to me omg! I will always, ALWAYS, comment about the art and sprites done for a game because the work put in to make everything look good is such a big chunk of making a game feel like a game. I love how there's a sprite for each movement: idle, reloading, rolling, general directions, shooting, etc. You name it and it's there. Also the fact that they're so smooth and each enemy has their own set as well, so much work was done to make all of this look perfect and it was 100% worth all the effort. Especially the color choices and hand drawn backgrounds as well and the static overlay on top of everything, it adds to the overall wild west aesthetic. The chosen sound effects and music choices paired perfectly on top of all of that. As for the coding and gameplay, while simple in nature, are always a good choice for fun and just overall rootin' n shootin' ! Like a shooter's hack n slash game! Which I love omg. The choice whether to fight or spare the money owe-ers and then sometimes not being able to choose depending on their temperament is always a nice concept to add and kind of pulls on my moral strings sometimes (until I play it over and over again to choose all the choices, cough cough, completionist mindset haha). Overall, a very exceptional game and very well executed for the time, theme, and team size allotted!! 😊🫶🙌👍👍
I love finding games that were also able to make basically all assets and code from scratch! All the sprites were really cute and fit the overall theme and aesthetic of the game nicely! I do kind of wish that when you looked left as the Door Witch that her sprite would turn the way you looked which I think could have been done by just flipping her sprite. I also really love all the enemy sprites and how funky they all look!! Almost gives me a Yume Nikki feel or like the weird old horror RPG maker games in the best way possible haha. The cover art is beautiful and the gameplay is hack and slash which I love personally. No thinking for me, just power ups and destroyer protector of worlds 🫡. The concepts and lore, the gameplay, the art, music, and everything are all amazing! I really enjoyed playing and looking at all the art and hard work that was put into this game by a fairly big group as well!
This game is really interesting and I love how it's similar to a table top game and the recent really cool indie games like Buckshot Roulette or Inscryption. The atmosphere is spooky with the graphics and music complementing each other perfectly. I also really like the gameplay itself, a bit of a puzzle mixed with dice rolling and the encyclopedia of all the spirits and the lore... I love it all and it makes everything so immersive! The two floating eyes of the mysterious spirit is also a nice graphic that adds onto the spookiness of who's staring back at you and whether or not you'll figure out who they are before they figure out who you are. I really enjoyed playing though even if I had some trouble with the second one? and I love seeing different game mechanics and styles being put into use for quick jams like these!
Thank you for checking out our game!! I'm really glad you noticed the little blinking animations for the sprites even if it was a really minute detail 🥹! Our lead sprite artist worked really hard on them all and we wanted to show the little extra effort put into this game through little things like that. I'm also glad and a bit surprised you find the game long for this week jam! I guess I was just being a bit hard when self evaluating our work, so thank you for the perspective too (❁´◡`❁) 🫶!! Thank you so much again for trying our game out and to you as well!!!
Fellow 22 second submissioner 🤝
First, I wanna say I love twist games with 4th wall breaks, but also voice acting by real people and not AI??? I love it so much omg 😭🫡🫡🫶 I also like how there might be "bugs" in the game but in reality they're very intentional parts of the game (or can be seen as that haha,,, or maybe they are bugs?? no one will ever know)... The vibes are on point and go from "yes, this is a normal game for sure" to "😶😶😶😶" once you get to a certain point and I love that aspect so much. Overall a really great game with the concepts used and executed very well!!
🤝Hello fellow visual novel-er! I really liked the story you had here and I don't mind that there weren't a lot of moving parts or fancy images. The text was enough to bring forth that emotion of sad-happiness and I read this aloud to my little brother since he wanted to watch me play some games haha. But because I did this, I got a little bit more emotional I think after thinking about actually being the player in the story :,]
Overall a really short and sweet visual novel about the mortality of humans that I enjoyed!!
The first thing I want to say is that I really like how this game ties into the theme of the jam! What's behind each door is a mystery for each floor. I also love point and click games and while this one is pretty simple, you can get a lot of enjoyment from solving each resident's issues and being rewarded with each new floor you unlock + the ending of course! I love how everything was done by scratch and of course the art, music, and neat little storyline. I had a really fun time playing!!
I finally got to playing it with my friends! This game is really fun co-op wise and I really enjoyed the binaural sounds pointing us to the right direction. The only bug we found in the game was that there is no code that works for level 9 😭 Even after trying all 17 map codes, we kept getting "wrong" answer, so there might be a slight code issue? But overall, everything else was perfect and we had a blast playing together!
Thank you for trying it out anyways despite it being a bit out of the way! I do see how the story can be a bit confusing since a part of the mystery is how you piece together each door, but it's also a bit convoluted haha. Thank you though for the feedback, the praise, and taking time to try it out! 😊🙌
