This is so good. Such a moody and oppressive atmosphere. Lots of great small touches (such as different text sounds for different characters) lead to just a very engrossing game.

- Cohesive aesthetic and good level of polish. Writing seems solid and everything gels together well.
What do you like about your game?
Creating an atmosphere, a feeling, brings me an incredible feeling of satisfaction.

For some reason I couldn't get this game to run on my end. But from what I've seen from the let's plays and screenshots, this looks really good. In fact, I have a ren'py launcher so I might even just go through the process of getting it to run on there cause man this looks like something special. Art is very good, overall presentation is good. Apparently there are multiple endings as well? Can't wait to play for real!
O M G - I LOVE this.
The music, the art, the atmosphere - the style! it gives me chills.
Absolutely incredible piece of work. And MULTIPLE ENDINGS? I'm blown away. I wish I had more time to explore this game - I'm definitely coming back to this post-jam, because there is clearly a ton of love and effort behind this project.
Wow this was just a delight to play the whole way through. Absolutely perfect atmosphere and a perfect setup for a larger story to be told.
I love the dark vibe and all of the colorful character we meet. Though we barely interact with them I already see a lot of potential for whatever comes next (please tell me there will be more lol).
The amount of polish you presented in this experience is incredible, with so many illustrations and sfx that really enrich the whole thing. Awesome work, congrats!
Very cool art style and a great story! I've gotten to a couple endings, including becoming pie. :D The music and audio work really well to maintain the mood throughout. And the story itself has lots of interesting twists.
Great work and a wonderful submission!
I'm personally not a fan of visual novels, or adventure games with only little interactivity
But this was great ngl
It's got some cool lore and stellar presentation, so much so that I re-played it just to see if there were more endings ( got 3 endings )
I'm guessing this wasn't supposed to be funny and was probably supposed to be a jumpscare, but the father telling me I was unworthy made me burst out laughing lol.
Same for one of the er ...... pie endings with the butler if you and try and resist in your room. Not too many games really pull off dark humour well tbh. You definitely did it here
In fact, the atmosphere as a whole was really damn great, specifically because of how good the sound effects were at setting the mood.
There's not too much I can say since I don't really play VN's much, but I'd say the fact that I was compelled enough to play through and see the other endings definitely means that you did something right. I guess if I had to nitpick, I'd say that the jumpscares ( like the statue ) were a little too predictable.
But again, that's just a nitpick. Great stuff here
Man I am so happy to hear this! To be honest if am able to get one person to play a Visual novel even though is not their thing I already count that as a big victory hahaha!
WIth my games I usually tend to go for a spooky vibe like a adams family or beetlejuice kinda feeling, I don't enjoy jump scares as much, I would rather more get the person involved and feeling some of the crazy stuff and maybe even laugh, I am so happy I was able to cause an impression and even make you laught a little, that makes me smile!
I am hoping to expand on this and add a more complete experience in the long run with some more gameplay here and there, but we know how the jam time constraints can squeeze us a bit hahaha.
i had a blast with your game as well, it was really fun to play and filled with tons of action!
Thanks for your comments and support!
omg, everything about this was incredible! your art is so good!!! no joke, after i saw the timelapse title screen i immediately closed and reopened the game because i wanted to see it again xd. the characters, the backdrops, the visual effects, the colors, even the UI all exude so much charm and personality while aiding to the overall unsettling nature of the circumstances your in, its fantastic! the visual presentation of this game reminds me of a blend of "Milk Inside/Outside of a Bag of Milk" and "Your Turn to Die", but still has this strong sense of confidence in its identity through some of the fun artistic quirks with how it presents its scenes (there are a lot of good ones to list out in my mind, but i think the preview gifs are a good example of what i mean). the audio and music also really do a good job at bringing life to the scenes, really good job here!
i was also really invested in the story! i always love a good existential thriller narrative with a large cast of quirky characters. the way the writing and the dialogue is handled is so endearing and was fun to read, really enjoyed getting to know each of the characters in the game. i love how much of presence the father has in the story without ever really being in it really, the way that his influence sticks onto the characters really elevates the eeriness of the situation!
i thoroughly enjoyed this a lot, one of my favorite entries in the jam rn! hope you consider continuing this after the jam cuz im dying to no more xd, great work!
Thank you so much for your comments! They really inspire me! If I was able to call to one of my favorite VN's Milk Inside a bag of milk and outside a bag of milk then I feel like I have already accomplished a lot, because they are some of my main inspirations for most of my games.
I am definitely hoping to continue and expand on the story since I had a lot of ideas I was not able to really carry through due to the time constraints, but I really hope i'm able to bring them to life in a more extended version.
I am so happy I was able to become one of your fave's! I really enjoyed your game so im super excited we can all share as creators!
The music is amazing! the way it shifts to fit the story without any noticeable seams is extremely impressive. All of the pixel art is also really great, and the story feels like a prologue to a longer game with characters having distinct personalities and relationships with each other. The game is immediately engaging with its dramatic narration and plot hook and all with a high level of polish.
Not a big fan of visual novels since the only one I have played is GFL, but this, this is an exception.
In my second playthrough I got more and more curious for this aberrant setting, and wanted to know more and more, to the point I felt a bit disappointed that the game ended and I got the "new horizons" ending, completely forgetting about the fact this game was made during a game jam.
The story, music and the whole art merges really well, and I hope to see what other games you have made or will make in the future!
Thank you so much Boya! I think that is one of the most encouraging comments, knowing that you are not really a Visual Novel fan and still enjoying it makes me so happy that I was able to make something anyone can enjoy.
I know is a bit sad due to the time constraints I had to scope a big chunk of the story but you could see where it was heading, I am hoping to expand a lot more on the lore and make it a more fleshed out game!
Thanks for your support and review!
The story, music, ambiance... One of the best I've ever seen. Gameplay is not that great, but I mean hey, it's a visual novel game right? The story and the music is just phenomenal.
GOT TURNED INTO PIE WAHHHH 😫😫😫JKJK Omg this game was so delicious in art, storytelling, ambiance, and I enjoyed the little bits of choices I had as I do in visual novels. ☝️🤓
I literally have to play all visual novels submitted to jams or else I will never be able to forgive myself ONGGG 👊👊👊 The frequency of the art, the bits of animation and the palette add so much to the presentation! Your style that you have in games and just as an artist in general is so neat and easy to read while keeping my attention drawn taut. The storytelling kept me interested and the premise reminded me of those survival game stories (YTTD inspiration it feels) AH BUT don't get me wrong with me comparing aaaaaa I just like to compare to other media I like in the best type of compliment possible! 😭😭
Also a bit unrelated but I did a little bit of looking in your repertoire of games and you have these types of games down to an artistic science which I adore!! OFC anything made within one or two weeks that comes out like your game right here is impressive even if you weren't able to put everything you wanted into it!! Once this jam is over though, I would love to see what you do if you decide to come back to this idea ^-^
AS FOR GAME AHAAA NO NEED TO PAY MIND TO MY EGG CLICKER 555555, PLEASE PLAY THIS OTHER BEAUTIFUL BLEND OF CODE AND ART INSTEAD:
Thank you so much for your comments, this is the stuff that inspires me to keep making more games! And oof i do the same i usually compare media to other but more in analyzing and praising, i know some people get iffy when other media is mentioned but as u said i considered it a high praise!
So if my game is similar in story to some of the big ones I feel flattered as heck hahaa! I really did go with that idea of making a survival type of game, similar to some animes and other games like YTTD! That was on my mind! I have played this game before and man it was so good!
My next step is to choose one of the games I have worked in and expand them to the point of making it a commercial release, either I go with Mansion Kill Kill or one of my FearMe or Clicker V. So far undecided but I am feeling inspired!
Thanks for your kind comments!
My favorite visual novel I've tried this jam. I love the SFX, controls, art, color scheme, story, everything. Great job.
As is often the case with visual novel type stories, gameplay can't really be considered too interesting haha. But the story and visual presentation (as well as music) were phenomenal. It's a really unique and interesting art style. Thought it was fun and well crafted!
The game looks phenomenal, I love the art, it's very impressive how much great visual content there is. The music is nice too. I really appreciated the pacing—the scenes change often so it's hard to get bored. The main ending felt abrupt though, just as I was getting excited for the story it was over; but I understand that it's tough to make a long game with such a high level of quality. Very good job!
