  • Not a bad game, the sound effects are way too loud though and had to be muted to be playable for me since there is no volume control. Gameplay wise it is ok and fun, interesting to see how long you can last. I made it 119 seconds once I realized the mechanics. No bugs, it works, and was a good way to kill 5 minutes or so, not a bad job.

What do you like about your game?
I liked how the lighting turned out and that i managed to finish this weird idea in just a few days.

Short and sweet and scary as heck.

The rough art-style, the jokes, the UI, the mechanics and the musical transition, all felt cohesive in expressing a whole narrative journey in the span of a few seconds. The gameplay is also really engaging. My record is 117 seconds.

As UselessWizard said the game feels complete as is. If one was to build upon it, it would make more sense to me to put this version untouched as a cold open in a greater collection of similar Abberotchis where additional mechanics could be explored at a slower pace.

Thank you for your comment! I was actually thinking about maybe making a sequel to this game with a slower pace (maybe on mobile). Having this as an opening is a really good idea :) Thank you so much

Well that was certainly an original experience!

Very good job on the screen darkening effects. The background ambience noise added to the mood well.

Only question I have is. Where did all the limbs come from...

Developer(+1)

Thank you! These are actually your own limbs, but the player is canonically an octopus kind of guy, which is why he has so many of them haha :)

only 50 bucks, father

Wow this guy makes a lot of waste. The animations are really nice and I like the lighting effect on the abberation. Solid game, nice job!

What wild ride, you really nailed the psychological horror genre with everything! The lighting, the music, the overall feeling as you slowly descend into madness as you try to keep your tamagotchi alive. I like the multiple end states too. Seriously great work here!

Thank you so much!

Nice little Tamagotchi-like game. Simple, but fun and well made! :D

Love the sense of humor and I appreciate how in-depth it can actually get where you need to balance feeding  it regular food and limbs to keep everyone alive. This was fun!

Developer

Thank you!

only made it 96 seconds

Developer

That's not too bad :) Thank you for your comment!

Very fun little game, I like the weird charm the creature has, probably the mechanics of keeping it alive quickly make you attached to it, too bad we always see it die haha.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Yeah, he has an average lifespan of only like 2 minutes sadly :(

The lighting is fantastic! I also really like the effect that feeding limbs has on the visuals. Though, how many limbs do I have? It seemed like I had quite a few.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thank you! Good question... The limbs are actually incorrectly labeled, they're not always limbs :) There is also a nose, eyes, ears and organs. Actually there is a system that makes it so that you can't feed him more than 2 legs/eyes/arms... Although it still doesn't make sense that you can feed him both of your eyes and still see everything. Also, how are you going to feed him if you don't have any arms or legs? Yeah, as you can see, this game is full of logical errors. So i guess the player is actually an octopus with three eyes and human-like hands, feet and ear :)

Developer(+3)

*and a nose :)

This was pretty neat! I love what you did with the lighting! Was it done with animated normal maps or something? Whatever it is it looked great!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Yeah, i used animated normal maps indeed :)

My guy is trying to get on speedrun.com for fastest time getting kicked out the house. This game is really fun but the world is big and my wallet is small so I died. Good job!

Thank you!

I laughed so hard playing this - taking the virtual pet genre and flipping it on its head like this was very clever. Thoroughly enjoyed it!

Developer

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it :)

I don't know what it eats (when it's not a limb), but I think the diet might be fiber deficient.

Thank you for your comment. It's actually supposed to be pizza haha

HELP THIS IS BY FAR MY MOST FAVORITE CLICK GAME AHHH

1000000x better than my egg do not play it omgsjkfljdk

THE BEATS, THE ART, THE GAMING ASPECT, TAMAGOTCHI ?!??! <3333 Literally combining everything good and wonderful into this little game ☆*: .。. o(≧▽≦)o .。.:*☆ I had a lot of fun clicking the poop at the rate of the beats because the OST is literally so good??? I was looking in the description for credits and I'm assuming (OFCCC) that you made literally EVERYTHING by yourself which is really impressive because I love ALL of the aspects so much ohhh my goshh. The music, the art, the concept, the LIMBS. The creature is so cute and I actually love the design choices of the maximum saturated title screen and the small tutorial we get before getting into the game. Very very helpful and nice introduction to the storyline and the gameplay ofc. I also didn't expect the cleaner to be permanent ! Which was a really nice touch, but at the same time I felt like clicking got me more points somehow (or maybe it's my imagination askdflj).

THE LIMB ASPECT!!! I knew what was coming and I love these types of games that kind of immerse the player as an actual piece of the puzzle. Of course I had to get all the endings where either I or my little fella ever got absolutely kerfuffled. THE JUMPSCARE aaklsjfklsdjf I LOVE IT HAHA OMG AND WAIT Lemme talk about the light source and fuzziness/haze too as you fade out of consciousness omg it was such a good effect and really made the point clear where those things were coming from hahaha

OVERALL LITERALLY ONE OF MY FAVORITE GAMES THAT HELD MY ATTENTION HELP <333

ALSO PAY NO MIND TO EGG, PLAY GRASS INSTEAD:

TOUCH GRASS: LAWN FORCEMENT

Wow, thank you for your very nice comment. Yes, all the music and sounds and art and stuff are made by me :) I'm glad you enjoyed the game so much haha.

This is awesome. It’s short and sweet, but it builds up a terrifying atmosphere in a very short span of time. The music is fitting (although a little loud), same with the sound effects. The art is simple, but adds to the creepy feeling, and the effects as you feed the abbarotchi more limbs look (and sound) amazing.

For a lot of the games I’ve played through this jam, I’ve wanted more content. This game though has a clear purpose, and while adding more content might be cool, I don’t think it’s needed. This game creates such an amazing experience in such a short amount of time that adding any more to it would probably take away from the horror that this game creates.

This game perfectly fits the theme, from gameplay down to title (which I saw and immediately got curious about what I would find), so really well done.
