Was in 5th ID 105th MI (CEWI) at that time. Changed MOS to 19D and ended up in 2/8 CAV from 96-98. At the time I was there we were an armor battalion and 2/5 was our sister mech infantry battalion. 

Nice brought me back to my days in 1st Cav.

I like where it's going. Space stuff is not my speed. I am more of a John Ringo fan. However David Webber I do read from time to time. I got the Webber vibe. Which is very cool. 

I did serve by the way. Oh and you are right elements are missing. That was deliberate as I tried to work within the word count constraint. I agree it could be better with more editing but I am fighting a nasty sinus infection and do not have any more energy for it. Next Jam I will be better prepared. I had one beta reader to help with the editing so there was that. I am also going to add to the story in the next Jam making it a series kind of thing. I mean what happened to Sgt Wong? Will he make it through Storm Trooper Selection course?

Pretty good. Excellent use of the mining shafts. Also great for holding the tone all the way through.
