Yes there is a theme. Actually there are 5 themes

  • Colors and paints
  • Make me cry
  • Try not to laugh
  • Short and addictive
  • Your kid will love it

Thank you for this presentation Brin! I also need to check additional talks that you posted 👍

This is one of the most polished game for this game jam in my opinion. Controls are hard to master but really fun when you get to know them. Really good job and I can see that you have quite a lot of rapid prototyping skills!

Really cool to see PICO-8 submission! Hat's of that you managed to do this in 3 hours!

How did you do this "diagonal" sprites in PICO-8? I mean that they are not aligned by axis. Did you make more sprites for each angle?

As you also mentioned in comments that it depends on the wind... I think that when it was blowing full force in one way I couldn't do almost nothing.

Really cool idea for the theme! I think it's one of the more unique ones! I also really enjoyed the music it really fitted the theme! (and was really relaxing). Also the little effect that you see eyes of square was really cute!

As also CapitolJay mentioned  it was hard to get around the corners.. Maybe try to have smaller colliders or that players always moves by one unit. I don't know if it would work for you implementation but something along those lines

He you really got the feel of the drifting! I recorded some gif of me doing perfect circles but I couldn't uploaded it...

Only one comment it would be cool to add something in the scene just to be a visual marker so that you know how your vehicle is positioned in the world. And they could also serve as obstacles that you could drift around :D

My score was 1661 :D

My best score was 12.. couldn't beat you...

But overall fun little game. I like that you need to balance between inner and outer ring while drifting

Just collision detection feels a little bit of the sprite. Maybe if you would change sprite to something else would be better.

And in later game it feels that you don't have time to react when you see a spike (maybe I am just to old for this)

But other than that really nice little game I played it for quite a while :D  keep up the good work!

Yes I agree with you JafCraze. We will add this in the future

@Poppers Totally agree with both of your points. We might add that planet's don't hurt you. And we also wanted to add the line for prediction but we ran out of time sadly...

Thank for playing and for great comment!

Interesting concept for a game :D

I really like how you also used customization of itch.io page so that it looks that desert is never ending.

All the quotes from cactuses and plants were super funny and I was clicking on all of them if they would give me some additional info where bucket and where water is.

One critic about the game (maybe this was intentional as title says) I was confused and lost as hell. I found bucket by coincidence. But for water I went to top left side of the map and then walked down and went one right and then up and then repeated process until I came and found water (it was not super fun... in between I wanted to quit). But I guess this was whole point of the game to feel lost and hopeless in the wast desert with only funny cactuses around :D

Keep on the good work and I am looking forward to more prototipes :D

Thank you for the answer! Will try to reproduce it myself 😉

I really like the core mechanic of jello cube moving! You really nailed! Can I ask how did you do it? I suppose in the shader with vertex offsets and calculating springs and dampening vertices? Could you maybe guide me to some example or some reference material for that?

Movement is really satisfying but as also others mentioned it lacks content. But if you maybe put some more work and add some content I think you have quite a gem in your hands!

I like idea :D For me controls were fine when you get used to it you can really kill a lot of zombies :D

The only thing that I would like to see is some indicator that you syringe will break... Because now it just breaks and then you need to run from zombies until you deploy a new one.

I love the pixel art style and a very polished look.

Good entry for that amount of short time! I think it has some potential!

DUDE I LOVE THIS GAME!

I really like this mechanic of min-maxing and taking risk how many competitors you should eliminate before the egg.

I made it to the end but had two rival sperms so that's why I failed.... But still the music tension at the end is amazing!!!

You got the theme, you have really good mechanic and I will for sure return to this game! Congrats really cool game :D

Shameless plug I also made similiar "sexual game": https://rokkos.itch.io/keep-it-in-your-pants, so I really appreciate your creation!

I really like the pixel art style and whole atmosphere!

Also idea is very cool and futuristic!

Overall very good game jam entry!

I liked pixel art really much!

Game follows a theme but it doesn't get any harder or easier with time...

Still I think is quite nice entry!

I really liked the atmosphere of the game and how you portrayed bullying! GOOD JOB on that! (all the touches with music and this dark shape behind you neck)
Graphics are also cute.
And to get to the first burger is really hard but if you make it to the first then you can make it to all others :D

Good little jam entry!

OMG!!! This is amazing!!! Thank you sooooo much for this fan art! Made my day and I am going to instantly share this with my artists 😊 thank you again Jordan!

Thank you for the rate! I agree with you and that was one feature that I would like to add 😀

Thank you for comment :D We kinda forgot about the ending part (a.k.a ran out of time and figured that out when we play tested it) .. we just did what happens when one of the meters drops below 0... But not if one meter is full..

Thank you for comment :D You are right we did balancing and text at the end and didn't play test it so much.. so it was lacking that..

Just sharing our game: https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2019/rate/461593

And see how our artists: @jcroxas, Maja Vavpotič and Jakob Pezdirec reach to your fan art :D Maybe you could even do colab sometimes :D

Hey just sharing our "dramatic" game: https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2019/rate/461593

You can only choose ONE gossip!

Our drama queen is pretty cute :D Also check out the llama: https://rokkos.itch.io/drama-time

Really cool platformer and so much potential in it :D good job!

We think the same :D But we hadn't had the time to balance the game...

Thank you mariana.salimena! I am glad that you enjoyed the game :D llama was created by Maja and Jakob so all the credits goes to them

Thanks for suggestion Jake :) We had something similar already in. We did it with pallet switching but it didn't turn out great because you couldn't see the arrows. So we decided that after game jam we will do completely new maps with new assets. So this suggestions that you listed will be quite helpful when we will do our brainstorming for new levels :)

Yes, this is a cool suggestion. I will add some checks and conditions where you can spawn enemies.

Sneak pic of your suggestion :D What do you think?

Thanks for comment and suggestion jugDuke :D

I created a similiar issue here: https://bitbucket.org/RokKos/pico-8/issues/4/more-visible-arrows

Do you have any idea or suggestion on how to improve this?

(1 edit)

Thanks for comment and suggestion Jake :D

I created a issue here: https://bitbucket.org/RokKos/pico-8/issues/4/more-visible-arrows

and will try to improve it. If you have any other suggestions be sure to let us know :D

Thank you Primož that means a lot hearing from you :D

Yea of course man
