I would wait until May when we drop the patch. Right now the ganeplay is all there but the narrative is not. https://candlesticklibrary.itch.io/guiding-light

Hi Luel--we did some troubleshooting today and it looks like this is typically a graphics card driver related error. I actually get the same one on my old laptop when trying to run the game because my drivers can't be updated anymore (it's a very old laptop). Most folks seem to have luck after just updating their graphics drivers and DirectX to the latest version. If that doesn't work, here's a more in depth article with additional options: https://www.makeuseof.com/windows-dxgi-error-device-hung-error/#:~:text=The%200x887A0006%20error%20message%20explicitly,driver%20for%20your%20PC's%20GPU.
Cute little game! I love the graphics--super cute. On my laptop the menu screen was way too big and cut off at the edges so I had to guess where the start button was. The game itself scaled correctly, though! The little narrative bit at the beginning also faded away a bit too fast so I couldn't finish reading it. The actual gameplay worked well though!
Definitely got the creepy/scary vibe down! I never found the hammer but did get through the puzzle door from guessing pieces in random-ish order (after getting the phone clue). Game ended when I got to the end of that corridor and tried to open the door so not sure if that means I lost? I didn't love how dark it was but perhaps that's the point of the blindness reference. Overall definitely a good start to a horror game!
I forgot to note that I did play live on twitch so if you want to see me get spooped the vod will be up a couple more weeks! https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1977709368?t=01h20m04s
I played the earlier version and didn't have a chance to comment and rate until now so I won't comment on the deck building since that wasn't implemented for my playthrough! Overall as a magical girl genre lover I am super excited to see how this continues developing. The characters and art are great and I love that they're teachers instead of the typical student trope! I think the crossword concept is very cool as well--though in the version I played I got stuck in the crossword and couldn't get back to the main game so I only played the first quest. I worry a little that it being an rpg AND crosswords AND deck building might be too much for one game but if you can make all three elements fully cohesive and polished, it will be amazing! I look forward to playing through the updates soon. I played this one live on twitch as well so if you want to see my live comments the vod will be up a few more weeks! https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1977709368?t=01h39m10s
I really liked this! You did a good job creating a complete experience in a small timeframe. My only concern was that the controls were a bit clunky. Not being able to move forward and move the camera at the same time made it difficult to get around effectively. I loved the story though--especially the twist at the end!
I love how well this game evokes the fear and anxiety around being minoritized in the workplace. The way I felt trying to decide if it was "worth it" to draw a boundary or otherwise upset a coworker were so realistic it was scary! The concept for the self-care/work loops is great too. Can't wait to see where this goes!
I literally can't find anything wrong with this game. It was such a joy to play! The characters are so fun (and accurately angsty), the voiceovers are magical, the music is perfect for the scenes, and I can't wait to see where the story leads next. Such a twist on the magical girl genre that I didn't know I needed tbh.
