cathartic and amazing. 312408769/10 game

Can't believe that was made with chatgpt, if I'm being honest.

Theme: robot complicated and good

Hey everybody! Just wanted to let you know that I will be streaming the games submitted + gamedev of my own for a little while at 2:00 PM EST today at twitch.tv/thefake_username, if you're interested. Hope to see you there!

Hey everybody! Just wanted to say a quick thank-you for participating. I honestly didn’t expect to get any submissions, so it’s awesome to see people actually submitting. I’ll play all the submissions on stream next weekend.

I’ll also probably host another one of these in a week or two. If you found it fun, or if you know any people who might be interested, be sure to let them know! I’ll leave a comment under this post when I get the new jam set up.

So yeah! Thanks for submitting, and have a great new year.

i posted this comment under the game page forgetting that it wasn't the submission page because I am an intellectual, so here it is again:

amazing

gameplay is good (except the burning log is a bit hard), audio is pretty decent (I gave background music feedback on discord), the visuals are amazing. The way the game starts is great - the opening animation got me laughing. The ending is also good. I feel like the theme you put in could have been better represented, but hey, it's a three hour game jam. For what it is, it's near perfect.

Scratch queen takes it again, I think.

If I were to work on a team, could I still submit my own game?

Posted a devlog about the foreseeable future of this game! Thanks for my first completed jam, and see you on a new page!

New devlog post!

Thanks! Time limit stretched me a bit thin on the levels front, but I am working some more levels for a full demo and I’m planning some for a full release. The demo should be out in a day or two if I can stay on schedule. I’ll link to the new page from this existing one.

An impasta

I like the obscured vision. The gameplay's fun, although it'd be better if the enemies constantly moved toward the last position they saw you as opposed to staying still when they don't see you.

I like the audio, wish it played automatically.

Visuals are nice.

I liked it.

Not sure about the theme, but dropping anvils on people is fun. But how come they can fly that's unfair

Audio's good, visuals are pretty good, gameplay is enough to make anyone explore their psychopathic side. Good luck.

oh my goodness

Just got 249 on my first try, i am the best

This is really fun! It's a bit easy to cheese, as SooBaccaCole described, and the difficulty curve is a little off. The round before I failed, I got almost all of them, but the round after, I got demolished. Like everything got through. Also, it lags after a certain point.

The visuals are pretty good! The UI is done pretty well and you can tell what everything except for the enemies are. They moved too fast to get a good gauge of how difficult each one is.

I wouldn't have a problem with the audio if I didn't place so many turrets. After that, everything started sounding really annoying because the sound was constant. If it was quieter, or different turrets made different sounds, then I think it would be better.

All in all, though, I enjoyed it! If this gets turned into a full game, I'll play it.

I love the concept! A couple things drag it down for me, though - first of all, the ability to just drag objects offscreen and be done with the level ruins the challenge*. Also, I wish there was a way to skip the rest of the countdown. It becomes frustrating to wait for the timer to run out every time.

I think this has good potential! In context of the game jam, it feels underworked, although I understand that given the time (I only had the time to make one level in my game). Good luck!

*I've just realized that you became aware of the bug at the three hour mark. Did something similar with my own submission. The time limit is frustrating sometimes, huh?

I've just realized how I screwed up that part. Thanks for telling me! I'll fix it in the next build.

Really well-made! I like the audio and the art, the gameplay is pretty good (although the fov for the tanks is unclear, but it works). I wish there were more levels! Even the first level is pretty grueling to start off with. I don't know if it's just me, but the mechanic takes a couple tries to learn, but it works itself out. I like that it doesn't hold your hand at all.

Overall a good game! This would win if it were done within the time limit.

The art is good. I like the art.

The audio is also good, but the background music only plays in the left ear, and that bothers me bit. If it weren't for that, the audio would be near perfect. A little variation in the sounds would also be nice, but that might be reaching for a three hour jam.

The gameplay actually reminds me a lot of Super Mario Bros. The enemy killing gives me strong goomba vibes. I like it! I also like the way the mechanics are introduced kind of slowly to ease you in. That said, the lack of checkpoints is annoying and the hitboxes are a little jank. It also gets a little bit repetitive.

All in all, while it has some things that I think could be fixed, I do like the art style, I do like the potential for the gameplay, and I would like the audio if it played in both ears. Good luck!

Thanks! I'm working on getting a couple more levels out in the next few days. I had them planned for this version, but I ran out of time (oh the woes of a short game jam). I'll put the update on a new page which I'll link to from the existing Trijam page.

P.S. The interpretation of the theme came from one of my friends telling me to try baking cinnamon rolls, and it snowballed from there. Ideas can be found in the most unexpected places!

I will continue to work on this game on another page, which I'll link to on the existing Trijam page. Hopefully, the potential comes to fruition! Also, about the bugs, have you found any that aren't already listed under known bugs? If so, please tell me so I can fix them. Thanks!

Thanks! I'll have a couple more levels out hopefully within the next few days. If I get around to it, I'll release the update on a new page which I'll link to on this existing page. That will be the one I'll actively work on, and I'll release a full demo there.

Thanks! I'll hopefully have a couple more levels out on a different page (to which I'll link on the demo page) by today or tomorrow.

The UI was a rush job; I only had about ten or fifteen minutes. When I release the next version, I'll definitely touch up the UI. For the most part, the rest of the game won't hold your hand as much, but I only got as far as the tutorial level. The action prompts will be kept, though, and I will work out the placement.

love the lore and the theme, I think the gameplay could be balanced better but it's good. It's simple and it's effective.

his brain does what now?

Hey, this has potential! Even if it wasn't for the jam, I'd love for you to see it through. I won't go into detail because I want this to be a fair jam, but congrats on already having a demo.

I'm a game dev looking for some people to have on my team.

I mainly need a composer. If you can do low-poly modeling, you'll also be welcome to join, but there won't be any models for the first part of my game. Looking for composers who do both gentle and intense electronic music.

This is my first game jam, and I'm not sure if people ask for money or not, but no pay, I'm broke currently.

Is it just me or iS tHiS gAmE lOoKiNg KiNdA (thin)

The thing that sucks is I can't play it on my mac, I just get an error that says "The application "Mac" cannot be opened".
