The only submission that I have come across that feels like a legitimate finished project. The art style, sound effect implementation and balance to the game all make me feel like this could have been a year long project never mind something created within the time frame. This is definitely my vote for number one of the year, I can only urge people more to try it and give their own feedback on their own experience.

Also it actually has a high score board so try beat me before you disagree - TDC

Well aware that the time constraint puts a lot of pressure on developers like you so I do want to reiterate that you should be happy with what you produced here. If you were to continue developing this project I would be very interested to see where you go with it from here

Great artwork and sounds/music. Had no idea how to play.

I have no idea what just happened. High score 48

Not the most intuitive game in this competition but was able to grasp the concept after a couple of runs. Enjoyed the hand drawn sprites and the controls were simple.

Opening this game feels like someone threw a puzzle, scrabble, and mousetrap at my head at the same time. The menus, sprites, 3d models, and effects were all great but lacked any kind of synergy or intuitiveness. There may be a great game buried within this nonsense but it is unfortunately not present in this submission.

Some flaws I found; the game has an incredible difficulty spike at the start, sound effects can coalesce and create a cacophony, and there was input lag with the controls (although this may be a client side problem rather than a  problem with the game itself). Positives: cute sprites, intuitive gameplay, nice concept.

When there is good and bad news I always feel it pertinent to begin with the latter. The game was very unintuitive - even after reading the how to play section of the page and viewing the in game menu. Once I did figure out how to play the game progressed very similarly to any other puzzle match game, even with the addition of playing against an AI. Now the positives: excellent presentation, lovely art style that was warm and inviting, sound design was very thematic and on point, and if it wasn't for the aforementioned negatives I would have loved to play more of this game. I believe it is obvious that the overwhelming time constraint is what has hindered this project, and with further development and refinement this game could become something great. Shame that it wasn't there by submission, but the creator's should still be proud of what they have accomplished and I hope they lean into what they did well in any future projects.

Really interesting concept, a little bit janky at times but always nice to see a clear concept executed well. Definitely one of the better submissions I've tried so far, would appeal to anyone who wants to be the crab

Been reviewing quite a few of this years submissions and this is a stand-out for me. Great art style, fun gameplay, addictive loop, thematic music. Great project that the creators should be proud of!

Was excited as soon as I heard the music. Really disappointed that I couldn't dig/blow up/break blocks or build/place ladders. Got to the 'Eat em Roy!' NPC and was excited to see what might happen next... just to find out that is essentially the end of the game. Great framework for something bigger but too incomplete right now for a better review

Interesting type of game, never played anything much like this before. Unfortunately it was incredibly easy, finished without much thought on first try. Some simple changes could make this a very viable project; such as player having an inability to disconnect the path, slower money gain, no resetting of the 'hero'. After that multiple course layouts once the 'hero' reaches the coins would turn this into a really interesting take on a classic adventure game. Overall good attempt but more issues than positives in my opinion.

Really nice title screen. Unfortunately I could not figure out how to actually play the game, only control that seemed to work was spacebar and I was unable to intuit what it did.

Edit: read the creator's post to avoid the confusion I had

Really enjoyed the style, especially the menus. Gameplay was a bit too idle for my tastes but believe this would make a fun mobile game. Very impressed with the music and sound design, overall good job

Quality and addictive game. Love the art style. Really unique concept that is easy to grasp and hard to master. Would highly recommend to anyone who is a fan of arcade, survival or competitive games.
