I speedran the game for the time of 2.5 minutes. Resetting the game so often made me appreciate all those main menu screens (love the one where the pigeons stares into your soul)!

Maybe I'll add a pigeon as an easter egg in one of the levels :]

If I had a nickel for every exploding bird submission to this game jam, I'd have at least 2 nickels. Which isn't a lot but it's weird that there are multiple.

Thanks for the feedback! The visual feedback thing is an oversight because the sparks already change 5 seconds before the kiwi blows up. The problem is that I didn't account for how fast-paced the levels ended up being :/
The delay of object breaking is one of the many bugs I was forced to ignore due to the time constraints. If we keep working on the game as planned, it should be fixed by the time the next update comes about.

An update is more likely than a sequel but I'll keep that in mind when designing the next levels lol

Great idea and even better music! Like the gameplay though I would appreciate if it were faster to move the UI so to make the controls more responsive. I like the enemy variety and I didn't find the game too difficult. The health bar is unintuitive however and only figured out how to use it due to another comment. I also suggest the implementation of more SFX like hurt, UI, game over and enemy ambient sounds.

My favourite parts of the game are probably the music and how you can use yourself and the UI to block/distract enemies from the Debug Core. (My highscore is 350 I think.)

You should have checked the tutorial lol

With the graphics you really nailed the vibe of a retro game though I suggest you make more enemies and speed up the pacing because I did not find it particularly engaging. I really appreciate the amount of effort that you put into it and I hope you find the motivation to keep working on it as you plan to!

I think the bigger issue is the lack of friction means that you often slide into spikes without touching any controls.

Would have liked it better if the enemies were easier to see (I was continuously looking upwards, at the word) but the gameplay was more engaginthan I expected!

We ran into a lot of bugs last minute that limited our level-making :( but hope to keep up development after a short while.

Will do! - it is version 0.4.0 after all

Messed up. 5/5

This is the best itch.io game I've played so far! Controls are decent, art and audio - I highly suggest that you play with increased volume - phenomenal and I have no clue how the level design became that great due to the time constraints.

Suggestions for improvement include a tiny progress bar next to the cursor to better determine how long I have to hold left click for that one tricky jump and to fix a minor bug were the cat gets stuck with its head and behind are  separated by terrain like so:

Looks very fun but I've never made it past the first level due to how hard food is to grab

Big fan of the pacing and art style, audio pretty good too. Biggest issue I have with this game is that you can easily get stuck in a box while it's scaling up and I haven't found a way to reset the level other than reloading the page. 3/5 game overall

My thoughts on the first point were, personally "It's not a bug, it's a feature" but the feedback helps just the same.

The graphics and sound design are *chef's kiss*. However, the theme of shadows was mostly ignored and I found the potion-making kinda finicky and couldn't get it to work (or maybe I'm just bad). I hope you keep at the game dev thing 7/10

Thank you, this means a lot to us
