Hello everyone!

I just made a Twitter, and I'm looking for fellow game developers and game enthusiasts to connect with. So if you want to befriend a cupcake, please drop your Twitter username below. Feel free to also introduce yourself!

I'll start with my own introduction: I'm an aspiring indie game developer who loves puzzles and mystery.

I've made games in Java and Python using JavaFX and Ren'Py, respectively. I'm looking into Unity and might try it out for future games. Feel free to hit me up if you want to discuss about them.

Pleasure to meet you!

(+3)

My Twitter handle is @Drillimation1.

Hey! I just followed you. Neat Twitter you've got. What is Chuhou Joutai about?

Chuhou Joutai is part of a franchise known as the Drillimation Danmaku Universe. Taking inspiration from Cold War-era political fiction and terrorist propaganda, the first game tells the story of a young couple who are sent out by the military to assassinate the leader of a terrorist organization. Believe it or not, there is a sequel in development called Chuhou Joutai 2: Paraided!. The game is getting close to completion; it is 80% done.

Sounds like a thrilling series! What are you making them with?

I wish you all the success for the sequel.

(+1)

I'm using GameMaker Studio.

HY i am DimaLink on twitter, i followed you!!!

(+3)

https://twitter.com/KFriedGames

There are two of us based around Manchester and we work on games in our spare time- generally fairly weird visual novel/ choose-your-own adventure stuff. Not too different to you, really :)

(+1)

Hey! Nice to meet some other VN developers!

Are you making your VNs with Unity? Did you write your own framework?

(+1)

Yeah, we use Unity. That is to say, coder Mike does- I just write the things! How about you?

I feel I've seen your game before somewhere but can't think where. Cool art style anyway. Have downloaded and look forward to giving it a go when I can :)

(+1)

Haha, it's possible, and thank you! Your art is also unique. It reminds me of older horror movies. Did you design all this?

I was actually planning to start your Bunny Hill Horror series when I'm less busy with the full version and life in general. I've heard great things about it.

I'm using Renpy for the nonlinear/VN parts and implementing the point-and-click portion with Python. Though there are still limitations. So, I'm looking toward a more flexible framework, like Unity - maybe not for this project but future ones.

(+1)

Heh, your game was definitely not what I was expecting- I certainly enjoyed it though! Have commented.

Yeah, the Bunny Hill Horror art style is a mixture of mainly Deviant Art stock models, photos I took of Bunny Hill in Stoke and Tamworth Castle's interior, all wrung through Gimp to within an inch of their lives. It's quite a love/ hate game but- having played Butterfly Tea- I think it's about the right level of strangeness for you!

Glad you did! I replied to your comment.

I didn't know that Bunny Hill is a real place. What inspired you to set your story there?

(+1)

Hello! I fol you on twitter. I am DimaLink)))) Hope you follow me too))

You can find me at @darkdimensiongd. I usually share progress on upcoming video games, or other things I’m working on.

Some time ago I made my own programming language to make video games with. So far I’ve made 2 video games with it. I recently added android support, and published both games on the Play Store.

Now I’m working on making the language better, while also making games of bigger scale.

Nice to meet you Button Cupcake :)

Nice to meet you too, Dark Dimension!

A programming language sounds awesome. How did you come up with that? Is it inspired by an existing one?

Moderator(+2)

How did you come up with that?

The long story short is that I wanted to make games in an “abstract” way, and then use the compiler to make them playable. The original idea is that, if in 10 years a new platform emerges, I would only need to do some work on the compiler to support it, and all games made with that language will instantly support it.

I know that popular game engines do something similar, but I prefer having control over this situation. Plus I own 100% of my games.

Is it inspired by an existing one?

Its syntax is inspired by the LISP programming language for mainly two reasons. One is that it makes the language more explicit, which helps a lot with supporting different platforms. The other is that it is very easy to make a compiler that parses LISP-like syntax, which is one less headache.

The language is called avdl and is open-sourced: avdl on NotABug.org, although it is not ready for third party use yet, I intend to keep it open-source for now.

cool!

That's very thoughtful.

I just took a look at the page. Is there a specific reason why you've decided to make it compilable for Linux first?

Also, I think you can definitely expand on this, maybe create a GUI or tools for others who might be interested in it.

Moderator(+1)

Is there a specific reason why you’ve decided to make it compilable for Linux first?

I use some linux-specific functionality on the project. I’m more familiar with linux, so it was easier to start this way. I plan to make it cross-platform at some point, but I’ll have to admit it’s not a priority.

Also, I think you can definitely expand on this, maybe create a GUI or tools for others who might be interested in it.

There’s lots to be done, who knows, maybe one day..

I modeled the compiler of that language based on the gcc compiler, so it is intended to remain as a command-line program. It’s possible to integrate it to existing IDEs. I’m currently working on documentation and sample programs to make it more accessible, but I’m sure it will be a while before more users start using it.

At the end of the day, it’s free, open-source, and a project I enjoy working on, so I’m not in a rush for anything.

I wish you success!

Hi! Dark! I fllowed you on TWITTER.... I am DimaLink there. I hope you followed me back)))))

Deleted 2 years ago

Thank you! I wish you success too! Are you building a politics simulator?

Deleted 2 years ago

Cool  I followed you on twitter too.

Deleted 2 years ago

This sounds like fun. I'm curious. How will the wars play out? Are they RTS minigames?

Deleted 2 years ago

This sounds fun. It must be taking a long time to make.

I am planning to try out some games, but it might be after I'm less busy making my current one.

I wish to success too!!! I am DimaLink, i followed you on twitter. Hope you do the same)) Thanks!

My twitter is @XcryptG

Currently in the startup phase of a new indie PvP project and I will post updates and screenshots there.

A PvP sounds nice. What are you making it in?

(+1)

We first wanted to let the community decide on the genre but because of lack of response we decided we are going to make an FPS (sp+mp). Next week development will start. Currently still researching networking stuff.

Hello! I followed you) On TWitter. Hope you follow me back)))) I am DimaLink there)

(+2)

Hey there!

I'm not super active on Twitter, but maybe if I knew a few more people on there I might be!  :)

Hey, same here! I'm planning to try out some games when I'm less busy with my current one.

Also, just followed you!

HellO!!!!! I am DimaLink, i follow you on twitter. Hope you do the same. Thanks a lot!

(+1)

Happy to see new faces ;) I'm @mighcty and I just followed you!

I'm working on an RPG with Unity, feel free to ask me anything if you need any help. Good luck on your journey!

(+1)

Hey! Followed you too!

Thanks for the offer!

What RPG are you making?

(+1)

Adventure and fantasy type, there will be battles and puzzle solving (kinda like Harry Potter but different I think haha?)

(+1)

Sounds nice. How long have you been working on it?

(1 edit) (+1)

I worked on the demo for a year, because I'm still studying haha, and I released the demo around August last year. I will be graduating soon, and I will have time to finish the entire game :) Probably will take me another year or so.

You got any plans for your game development?

Haha. Same here.

I'm working on games on the side. I've released a demo to a p&c adventure puzzle game, but I'm pausing development for the full version because there's a jam I really want to join. So now I'm making a detective game with randomly generated cases.

I might make more puzzle/deduction games in the future, but I also want to try out more game genres.

I'm still deciding whether to keep this as a hobby though.

What about you? Are you looking into the game industry?

(+1)

That's great, just enjoy yourself on the journey ;)

I'm lucky enough to get my project funded, so I can work on my first commercial game. Not sure what will happen next, since diving into the industry is still kinda unstable comparing to the other industries. But I will do my best, and see what's coming for me next.

(+1)

Haha, will do. Thanks!

Congratulations on getting your project funded! It must be exciting.

I agree, at least from where I am, it is less stable, but if you got your game funded, it's already a huge step!

Good luck for anything you choose to pursue!

My name is BraxtonTheFoxツ

(+2)

Nice to meet you Button Cupcake! I'm @DevContinental, solo indie dev.

Currently working on a puzzle platformer called Déjà Vu, which I've been building in UE4 for the past couple of months. And there's a free demo on my page if you want to check it out!

(+1)

Hello!

I've just followed you. I'll definitely take a look when I'm less busy making my current game! (It's also only a demo now haha.) Do you have a MacOS version for your game?

(1 edit)

Thanks for the follow! I'll also check out your game when I have the time. Liking the look of it!

I don't have a MacOS version of it currently but I can look into making one soon.

Hy, nice to meet you. I am Variable and i make games as a hobby i have had some experience using unity in the past but now i use the Godot Engine.

My twitter is @Variable_ind

Hello, Variable!

I followed you too.

What made you decide to shift to Godot?

(+1)

Nice to meet you too.

i like Godot mostly due to its extremely small size compared to unity, faster project opening time, Can build project in seconds (Unity takes much longer), A built in code editor and documentation unlike unity which uses an external code editor like "visual studio" and online documentation, also it has almost everything one would normally need for making games and softwares (e.g Pixelorama was made using Godot)

This does sound nice. I downloaded Unity and it took about 10 GB, haha.

I've heard a bit about Godot. It seems similar to Unity and faster to learn. I wonder why it's less known though - or maybe it's just from where I'm from.

What are you making with Godot?

(+1)

Nothing much, i make whatever comes to mind however i am out of ideas these days....

Hello, variable!!! I followed you!! So, hope you follow me back!!! On twitter, i mean!!! Thanks!
