 Hello and Welcome!

This community message board is for discussion of the adventure zine, reporting errors, and for clarification. I will do my best to respond to any questions and offer clarification as the need arises. Thanks everyone!

You really packed a ton into this zine. I immediately added rumors to my campaign rumor table. My players check for rumors frequently so I'm sure they'll hear about the Gemthrone mountains soon.

Remember when WotC would make the printable "Errata" pages covering typos and changes in 3rd edition D&D?  It would be cool to do something like that for everyone to print out and stick in the backs of out books.

Developer(+1)

That is a great idea. I think once all the backers have had a chance to read through, I'll be able to compile the FAQ and errata for this module.

Hello!
I have the hard copy of the first printing (I think), and I have the PDF of v2. Do you have a list of errata you could share that I can use when referring to my hard copy?

Cheers - cool adventure!

Great game, love the dense yet easily accessible layout!

Hsokren Ruins Questions!

In room #2, what trap is on the door?
In rooms 3 and 11 there a secret rooms marks as "a", but aren't detailed with any information.
Also for room 11, what is the trap on the door to room12?
For room 4, should the secret passage go to 16 instead of 19?

I could make these up on the fly for myself at the table, but was wondering if you had something specific in mine. Thanks!

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you! The traps could indeed be whatever the referee comes up with. For the most part, I was pulling traps from the 'Designing a Dungeon ' Section in the OSE Rules Tome.

  • Archway trap, room #2 is a basic falling block trap(1d10, save vs. petrification)
  • Room #3 is labeled 'a' on the map, but the entry on the Key is labeled 'Treasure'.  Room #11 I forgot to included but it was nothing more that minor treasure if found. Referee's choice on that one.
  • North door, Room #11.  Standard Dart trap (1d6 darts, 1d4 damage each)
  • Yes, good catch.

Thanks for these! Just reading Hsokren Ruins at lunch and came looking for errata, or a place to report it myself!

Hi Guys,

Going to start running a group through Gemthorne and was wondering, is it possible to get the referee's version (Keyed map) of Karn_Buldahr and Ryo_Taesi?

I wouldn't mind putting that out there for my players, I am ok with them knowing which buildings are which.

Thanks

On page 14 the Skeleton description. For damage it says Att 2 claw ( id3 + paralysis). Assuming that should be (1d3 + paralysis)

Developer

thank you for the catch, I will note that.

Sorry for all the posts.. found another question..

D5 - The Vaults on the map it’s in the Labyrinth of Shadows, should it be treated as one of the “location of note” while the characters are pretty much lost wandering around the labyrinth?

Thanks.

Developer

It can be something they wander into. Otherwise, there is a treasure map that may lead them to find it.

Has anyone come up with any uses for the Crystals of Power. I can't seem to find anything about them other than they are magic.

Hi there, will the Zine be in Print again?

Developer

Absolutely! I've got a print run on order and expect that to arrive in about a week.

Forgel’s end, does the trap door in 3 or the ladder in 6 lead to area 7? There’s one entrance to 7 but two separate areas seem to lead there?

I read it as both lead down to 7.

From room 6 there is an "official" entrance with a shaft that goes down into 7. The ladder in 3 is behind a trap door and, looking at the floor plan, seems to lead to the bits of rubble in the western corner of 7, four squares west of the shaft from room 6.

Room 6 is easy to find, but has an alarm trap that alerts the trogs. I plan on making the trapdoor in 3 something the PCs need to find; it isn't immediately visible unless they search or the Elf gets lucky. ;) But if they do find it the reward is a sneaky way down behind some piles of mining rubble guaranteed to not rouse the trogs.

I don't know if that's how it was intended when written, but is how I plan to run it :)

Hi! I have both the print and PDF of this and am loving it, but one thing I've been searching high and low for are digital versions of the maps. I tried the trusty "pdfimages" trick, but that was not able to get the dungeon or town maps at all, and the hex map came out in dozens of small pieces that would need to be stitched together and even then it wouldn't be "quite right" (missing dotted lines on roads, e.g.).

For the dungeon maps, it's not a big deal as the players will map-as-they-go, but I'd like to make the overland and town maps available to the players as an in-game artifacts, so they can mark progress and discoveries on it. It would be fantastic to have a players version of the overland map without ruins, treasure, etc. marked on it, but even the map as-it-appears in the book would be very useful.

The town map I can probably just trace onto place blank paper, or scan it into the computer and edit out the numbers, easily enough ... the overland map is more of an issue, however. Even scanning it is a bit difficult due to how it lays on the paper (there's a visible gap in the middle due to how the binding is).

Would digital versions of maps be something you'd consider offering?

I ran this with my group and they loved the sandbox feel so much they are going to become residents!

Hi! In H5 Hsokren Ruins, there's a wall separating room 2 and the door to room 4 - I'm wondering if this is a mistake or whether there's something I'm missing.

Thanks!
