Can anyone suggest an alternative that isn't steam where 99% of the games aren't about being gay?

The owners of this place clearly don't care about the site since they refuse to add any type of sorting and I don't feel like  sorting through gay visual novels all day.  I'm fine paying for games and not really looking for anything triple A. I nice mix of indie and nsfw would be appreciated. Especially if at least half of the games are finished. I don't enjoy paying for 10% in hopes that some day it will have a definitive end.

Not really. If you want curation then there’s GOG, but that’s leaving indie territory. Gay is what you’ll have in an open marketplace.

I'm not asking for a site that don't host gay game. I'm asking for a site that isn't literally forcing them down my throat, or at the very least lets me choose when I want to see them. every other adult game is a furry gay visual novel or just unfinished. I'd also like a site that tells you just pick from game that are finished. Again there are 10 different tags for gay games but no tag for completed games, or games that you literally have to pay for monthly or you can't play them anymore.

That's the thing, because itch.io is an open marketplace, there are LOADS of gay games, which is the reason itch.io shoves them down your throat. Half the games (over exaggeration) are gay, so it's only fair half the recommendations are gay visual novels. Sure, it's really darn annoying, but there is nothing we can do about it, I'm sure the people at itch.io hate it them too, but I don't think it's very fair (for an open market) that some games are purposefully being left out by the algorithm.

There are 10 different tags just for gay content. Why is asking to be able to exclude those when I search for video games like asking to move mountains? I'm bisexual but I don't need my games to be about being gay. I'd prefer they be about having fun not the struggle of coming out to your family.

To be fairgothe edgelord OP, calling this place a "pride parade" proves their point.

It's like calling Starducks an LGBT shop. Sure, there's such an overlap between the two crowds that it seems silly to expect there to not be any pandering, but that's not what the business advertises itself as, nor what people usually go to it for.

Nothing I said was edgy you're just soft.

itch.io should suit your needs.  Only about 0.5% of their games are about being gay.  Happy to help!

Now that's a problem. 0.5% is way too low compared to the general population.

Again there are 10 different tags for gay games. That's one that's one.

Hey mate you could always try abandonware sites. Still lots of great older games there!

I have steam, I asked to exclude it because itch has more games geared towards low spec gaming. I also find steam to be a bit clunky. They're also more restrictive in my opinion.

if you want to lots of views you can try HTML and upload your games in Newgrounds, Armorgames and  Kartridge.

If I browse games in general, I mostly get crappy lo-fi horror games, not gay visual novels.  I only get a lot of gay visual novels if I deliberately search using the "visual novel" tag, and even then the LGBT+ visual novels don't really crowd out the non-LGBT+ visual novels.  There's a lot of stuff there that I'd like to filter out, but it's all different stuff that I'd like to filter out for different reasons.

Filtering for only completed games is actually possible.  From the home page, click on "Directory" at the bottom of the screen, then choose "Released" from the "Release Status" category.

This seems like you're trying to debate that the site isn't flooded with gay games when the number of tags say otherwise. All while agreeing with the point that you should be able to easily filter for what you don't want . Regardless this doesn't answer the question of alternative indie game sites and I didn't make this post to debate.

I'm not trying to start an argument, I'm just honestly baffled by your statement that itch.io is overrun by gay visual novels.  The way I see it, one of the following must be true:

  • You are being triggered by gay visual novels to the point where it seems to you that gay visual novels dominate on itch even when they really only make up a small percentage of the games.
  • You are searching using tags or keywords that show an unusually high number of gay visual novels.
  • Itch is for some reason showing you a lot more gay visual than it shows me for the same tags.

...and I'd kind of like to know which one of these it is, because it affects what kind of help we can give you.

I don't think anybody here disagrees with your statement that filtering on itch is bad.  The same can be said about just about every other platform, to a greater or lesser degree.  Filtering is a hard problem to solve.  If it were easy, then itch would have already solved it.

Anyway, it's possible that you would like GOG, if you haven't already tried it.  Unlike Steam and itch, it's heavily curated, so fewer indie games, but what games there are tend to be higher quality on average.  Also, very few gay visual novels, although there may be a few.

Alternative to what? Are not sure about what store your are used, where 99% of the game has a gay thematic, but a lot of store have more than 2% of not gay related theme : but example:
Itcho
windows store
Epic game store.
gog
Indiegamestand

etc.
