Who is your favorite romance?

I'm a delegate of polar opposites, apparently, since my two favorites are the highly ethical, socially reclusive, and completely adorable nerd Lyon, and Gisette - who, to be fair, is also adorable. In her own special, murderous way.

Curious to hear who other people's favorites are so far!

(+2)

Zarad, Jarrod and maybe also Hamin)

(+1)

.... JARROD, HEH (I get it... I tried to get his romance ending like 20 times to be .... at the end).

In the end, have you managed to romance Jarrod?

The Matchmaker is extremely clear about what to expect from Jarrod and his route. There's a reason why she tells you not to romance him!

(+2)

yeah the ending (where you marry him for love), he becomes too controlling, everything you do is cheating etc etc. He has an affair on you and executes you for adultery.

You can get an 'good' ending with him if you get with Gisette, and have high stats and high immorality (rec for late game when you get pretty much everyone else's boosts),  and arrange a political marriage and tell him about Gisette. I actually liked that ending a lot. Idk what that says about me lolololol.

(+2)

I simp for quiet devotion, so probably Jasper!

But of the non-secret romances, definitely Zarad because his banter actually made me laugh IRL.

(+3)

Jasper has my heart and is forever #1, mainly because of his obvious silent devotion and inner turmoil over following his duties vs. his feelings. Another big reason is that it is hinted that he is even more capable than what you already see in-game based on how everyone comments that he will beat people up/arrange for assassinations if your character isn't treated correctly, haha. Even though a lot of times when those comments are made they are in jest, with how so many different people said more or less the same thing it got me wondering.

As for the others, it speaks to the strength of the writing in this game that I have so much difficulty narrowing down my list of top five! If you ask me broader of favorite character in general my list would have pretty much everyone except the Jiyel diplomat, haha (Aly really hit the nail on the head with ye olde Chinese dramas with his rambling of blood prestige and Jiyel superiority). If I had to though I would say that after Jasper my favorites are Hamin, Clarmont, Lyon, and Zarad in no particular order.

(1 edit)

Omg have you successfully got Jasper's romance ending?? Please help, ya girl is struggling - I didn't manage to get enough of his romance flags by the end.

Besides missing his own secret path starting in Week 2? I guess??? Do I need to spend more than 1 time slot in my room with him Week 4 - on? Am I missing something else? (Since I did everything else the already existing Week 1-3 guide said to do.)

((threefish303 if you have wisdom on this please share with meeee.))

Besides Jasper as my obvious bias LOL (who I am TRYING to pair with my main MC, which is my Corval Lady); I also really enjoy Clarmont and Lyon's romances the best.

(+1)

Every week, you need to visit him in your room to boost up romance points. From there on, make sure to get every Historian secret (there's three of them) and choose to forget marriage and romance altogether at the Matchmaker's meetings. Those should help you get on his path eventually.

(1 edit)

Yeah, like I said, I did do that (but not the Historian secrets, I mentioned that too. I've also read that they're technically optional??? On other places of the forum since I posted this. Though to be fair I've sussed out that for Jasper's romance endings it MAYBE goes something like Worst/Not Very Happy [no Historian Secrets]; Married but strained because Jasper never fully opens up to MC [w Historian Secrets??]; and Happy Jasper End [w all four Legendary Endings between the kingdoms, idk if Historian Secrets make a difference or not.)

I was thinking that maybe I made some wrong conversation choices in weeks 4-6 to make me miss enough points, because I also got a perfect acquittal for Imogan figuring that also might help, but that wasn't enough.

List of what I DID do:

- Friendly Intro, Invite Jasper/Ria/Sayra for Breakfast, Invite him to First Event, Asked him to investigate the note [option three], "Explore" my Room once each Week I could, Compromised with Jasper and Hamin, Picked "People are terrible, Jasper", Chose no marriage or romance at the final Matchmaker interview, have good relationships with Ria and Sayra, got perfect Acquittal for Imogen, and got 2/4 Legendary Endings (Peace for Revaire, and for the Jiyel/Arland conflict)

So yeah, I'm thinking other than the Historian secrets I got some dialogue options wrong further down the line. Do you remember what you picked?

(+2)

Did Jasper try to talk to you about choosing your own path just before meeting the matchmaker during week 3? That's the sign that you unlocked his path. You don't need to spend more than once per week in your room to get high romance with him. Other things to do is to try and invite him to your 1st event (he will decline but you get points), be friendly to your maids and offer them breakfast, and during the trial starting in week 4 you have to do two things: 1) push for why the head butler is not letting you help Imogen more instead of dropping the topic BUT 2) when you talk to Jasper in your room in week 4 DO NOT try to push for more info out of him. You also get an automatic scene where you worry about him, so choose the option where you ask him to lay down his burdens. Once you get him to sit down and talk to you, pretty much all of the choices afterwards for that conversation will get you romance points from him. After week 4, just continue to go to your room once a week and you will be in the clear!

If you are too busy with increasing your stats, you do NOT need to complete the historian chain, but doing so will definitely get you a happier ending with Jasper, so I recommend it! It also explains some of his behaviors and gives some insight into his backstory (I've been told though that we won't be able to fully find out what is going on though until the secret backgrounds are released).

(2 edits)

Yes, I did all that including the 'lay down your burdens' option, so maybe I messed up by pushing for more information both times. So I will go back and not push for more information the second time (on the Explore Bedroom talk during Week 4 I did pick 'Promise not to talk about the trial' already if that's what you mean. I saw somewhere that apparently the response you give Jasper after the ride in Week 2 negatively or positively affects the relationship with him? I chose the (paraphrasing) 'I'm as good as I can be considering someone tried to kill me" option, but saw that the "I'm not sure how I feel" option gives the most relationship improvement. Maybe that's how I missed his ending? EDIT: LMAO oops I went back and realized that I missed Jasper's Week 6 conversation between preparing for the ball, stat-raising and gaining faction approval so I will probably get it now.) and also do the Historian chain if I can.

And also figure out how to build my stats to get all four Legendary endings for his best ending. Maybe that will only work from New Game+ after I complete other romance routes first though.

Thank you for your help!

You welcome! Glad you figured it out! I am aiming to all legendary endings to eventually get Jasper's epilogue too after getting stat boosts. Jasper is tricky to successfully romance because he is so devoted to his duty, but he is totally worth it! Good luck!

He is very much worth it!! I know it not only because I like Jasper and the romance itself, but because although I didn't get the historian secrets this (my first) go-around for his route; I still had a happy marriage with him because I got 2/4 legendary endings.

(Though I expect if you only got the Revaire legendary ending + no worst endings for the other three, it would still be enough to get the happy marriage prompt. Since the Isle's agreement with Katyia continues because peace still exists, and even as a Historian Jasper believes in Katyia's legacy which is why he wants MC to succeed so much especially because he can't directly interfere.)

I still haven't figured out how to get the Wellin/Skalt or the Corval/Hise legendary endings though. The best (and only) ending I've got for Wellin/Skalt is the green ending (which I guess is the best ending under Legendary, but I really have to wonder what I'm missing to get the best) and for Corval/Hise the best I've managed to get is the blue ending lol (and again, no idea what I'm missing because I've managed to get them to agree to a certain marriage, form a joint merchant fleet and successfully remind them that they weren't always at odds through the history stat so again, not sure what I'm missing lol.)

And forcing myself to do Jarrod, Gisette, Woodley and Kade's routes (when his comes out) for the stat boosts is going to be so hard, I am going to be crying tears of anger and frustration the whole time lol. Plus romancing Kade when I love Jasper the most of everyone will feel like a betrayal. BUT WE FIGHT ON -

For Jasper!!!

Good Luck to you as well, fellow Jasper Lover.

if it helps you might only have to do one playthrough for jarrod and gisette - jarrod doesn't give you any stat bonuses if you romance him on his own

Oh thank you, that's excellent news!!

Yeah personally I'm not sure on Corval and Hesie, but for Wellin and Skat, I know. You need to choose 'share medical information', 'trade benefits', 'monopolise on cutlery'. But also get high respect for Penelope by chosing the highest bonus dialogue, and tell her she can do more for her family than marry an old man. She'll come to you and share her fears which you have to tell her there's only some things she can do. I think talking to Ana about peace in week 6 is also good.

Monopolize on cutlery rather than weaponize cutlery? I've never seen that, and have done everything else successfully, so it looks like this is the only thing I'm missing. Do you need a high practical knowledge to get this option?

whops I meant weaponise cultery, I was just typing from memory. You should like boost up friendship points with Ana by inviting her to events and telling Lise 'what are your goals this summit' and at the ball ' the worlds in safe hands, we'll make sure of that'.

(1 edit)

Oh okay!! I do have high friendship with Ana so I guess I need to ask Lisle 'what are your goals' and say (to him?) at the ball 'the world is in safe hands.' It's funny because I think I only got that option once and it was when I asked 'what are your goals' rather than choosing the 'how are you doing' or 'tell me something no one else knows about you' options. Thank you!

(+2)

Lyon. Seriously, I don't think I'm capable of making a MC that wouldn't fall for Lyon. Sometimes that isn't who they choose, but seriously, he's always a Top 3 option. I also adore Clarmont and Zarad, but oh what I would give for the political marriage power couple of my Ethical Widow/Avalie. I have yet to play Jasper's route, though.

My forever number is Zarrad. Always has been and always will be!

(+1)

My absolute favourite route and marriage is Lisle.πŸ’šIt's so joyful and sweet.

Another huge fave is Zarad, who was my top dude until I tried Lisle's route (last, very disinterested and expecting nothing from him... haha how the turntables). Corval is my favourite kingdom in general, I think, I love Zarad's conversations with all my PCs, love the Corval PC and her storyline, love the Princess's storyline tied to Corval...

Out of curiosity, who was your favorite female romance?

(+1)

Honestly my favourite girl & relationship is Avalie 😭 (and I adore Cordelia & Penelope too) But I went for Ria first and that was so sweet, and then Gisette surprised me with how lovely and romantic and delicate she was, and for some reason I only actually completed Ana's route very late and she bowled me over. She's SO good... I think Ana x my nerdy and sweet Sheltered Princess is one of my favourite relationships I've played out, having her fall in love with all of Skalt was so wonderful!

(+1)

Oh yes, the female friendships are amazing, especially Avalie! I also enjoyed all the female romances, especially Gisette (being ethical with the power of manipulation, baby!). Pirace MC/Gisette is really fun, and Arland MC/Gisette is great because they're both underestimated princesses striving for their own goals. Though, I think my favorite will be Rebel MC/Gisette because I'm a sucker for Angst(with happy ending hopefully)

(+1)

no wayyyy, my heart was breaking for Lisle's route. But it was so cute when Penelope was squealing when Mc and Lisle first got engaged.

But nahhh at the ball when it was the final dance, which katytia said that the couples who dance will remain in love forever or smt (it's been 20 days don't attack me) and Mc looks at him and he shakes his head. THE AGONYYYY

(+1)

True, there's also a lot of bittersweetness, that moment got me good too (esp since that was the first route I played and the first version of the final dance I got)! But playing as a similarly queer princess, in this case aroace, gives the relationship a huge sense of shared relief and mutual understanding and then the ending I got was just perfect marriage and happy complicity and laughing over the fact that we're known for being the perfect couple totally in love with each other. Absolutely adored getting such validation of a queerplatonic relationship as a happy end πŸ’šπŸ’š

(1 edit)

As a lesbian, I only played the male romances for the stat boosts (but I did appreciate each of them, except for Jarrod thank god his route didn't have boost).

As for all the ladies, my personal ranking is Ana, Greer (judging by vibes for now), Leah, Ria...and best is Gisette XD She's an acquired taste and tried to kill me, but is also super sweet and romantic?? I enjoy making her fall in love with my ethical and super manipulative MC, despite all her protests about not changing lol. Still ambitious and calculating, but less murderous (unless someone tries to hurt me, I'll allow it). I also blackmailed her (with love of course) even though I had enough for peace without it lol.

Speaking of blackmail, I chose to ask her about my assassination and the rebels in week 5, but then in week 7 it seems like she somehow forgot?

SHE'S SO GOOD! I really need to make a new playthrough where I manage to romance AND get her to kill me (my last couple runs I wasn't nice enough to actually get enough of the Revaire storyline to even have the option lmao)

(1 edit)

What would be even better is if she stabbed us in the heart (literally), which also means stabbing herself in the heart (figuratively). Revaire will plunge into endless war and Gisette will be haunted by what could've been forever, such delicious angst! I also headcanon that my MCs call her "Gissy" which she tolerates out of love <3

Also, what do you mean by "wasn't nice enough" to get that option?

I usually play ethical/genuinely Good Person with high manip (love the Widow for that!), but the last couple times I completed a playthrough while romancing Gisette I didn't get the Rebels secret, once just bc i wasn't nice enough to Sayra to get her trust and once because I went fully unethical, took the bribe at the trial, etc (I FELT HORRIBLE ABOUT IT but my MC did not care at all)

Gisettttttte <3

Wait, I've sold out the rebels without earning Sayra's trust before, are we not supposed to be able to do that?

Oops, I forgot to mention in this thread, SPOILERS for the Revaire plot, weeks 6 & 7 and ending possibilities!

Selling out yes, it's the option to ally with them or to go for peace that doesn't show up unless you've spoken with her!

IIRC the options you can get are:

- Choose to side with the royals (shows up even if you've promised to help Sayra, you can trick and betray her!)

- Of course you must side with Gisette (if you're on her romance route)

- Of course you must side with Jarrod (if you're on his romance route OR politically marrying him, which might be a bug? I have had both Gisette & Jarrod options show up at the same time)

- Refuse to take part in this at all (Gisette does not take that very well)

- Choose to side with the rebels (if you've promised to help Sayra; this can involve tricking Gisette with fake information, which is super cool and an achievement IIRC)

- There must be an option that pleases everyone (if you've convinced Sayra to try for peace; this involves trying to convince Gisette to go for peace too)

(I've not seen a special option for Clarmont, but I only played his route once and said I'd stay out of it iirc.) (... And then betrayed him to Gisette out of curiosity. It was horrible. :) )

All of these only require knowing about the Rebels' existence from the secrets chain, but it's possible to have that without having Sayra's relationship high enough to get her conversations.

(1 edit)

SPOILERS

I believe Gisette killing you in week 7 can result from "be tried as war criminals" or botching you blackmail attempt. I did the former and got an achievement from it. IDK about blackmail tho

What exactly are you doing that doesn't make Sarya trust you? I've always been nice to servants, help her with the drunk delegate, and got a perfect trial to raise her relationship enough. Without inviting her to stuff (though it was cool when I did for Onvu and girl's night)

Oh yeah no that was just how I played those runs (as a very selfish, immoral and unethical PC), I've managed to get the good Revaire endings in other runs dw ;)

omg not one mention of emmett 😭😭😭 i mean he's not my favorite either but he's adorable, i was expecting his name to pop up

lolololol yeah he's a sweetie pie. I mean when I first played this game I thought oh I'm gonna romance Jarrod it's gonna be enemies to lovers, cause I thought he was gonna be some sort of a himbo... he's not and I was traumatised by his ending. And so with my Jijyle mc I rushed to Emmett, and he was really nice. But he kinda pales compared to the other LI's, because he's simply just a nice guy, with insane flora and fauna  knowledge.

Emmet's break-up reason and talk destroyed me good, though tbf I come with pre-packaged weakness to daddy issues stories. I did really like how his route is about respecting him as a person and romantic interest and not just an adorable puppy, too! He's not one of the ones I'm passionate and obsessed about, but I really enjoyed every single route's W5 big moment.
