Awesome! I loved the concept of a rhythm adventure game! The art was super cool. The skiing, while really cool once you get the hang of it, was very hard to understand as there was no tutorial i the game. Overall a very interesting entry. I think this game has a lot of potential and I hope you keep adding to it and making more content. Nice work!

Skiing took a minute to figure out, but pretty enjoyable! I wasn't quite sure what my objective was though

Developer

Haha yeah it does take a bit to figure out … I’ve received a lot of great feedback I still need to implement. Did you by chance talk to the NPC characters? They will give you stuff to do.

Interesting take on a skiing game, a very unique approach! Once I got the hang of the controls, I found the movement to be pretty fun, although there didn't seem to be any penalty for crashing. Excited to see what you do next!

Thanks ReindeerFlo :) I appreciate it.

Initially I had the code set up so that when you collided with something / got a miss it made the ski speed = 0. Makes more sense, but after a few times of missing / crashing it became frustrating. Also my fiancee played it (who is not a gamer) and was avidly against the crash mechanics lol. Maybe if I introduced a slow instead of a crash?

Yeah, that makes sense! I can see crashing getting frustrating for players so I can see why it wasn't implemented. I think a slowing effect on collision could be a bit more fair, something to consider for an update?

For sure! I want to go back and do a cleanup pass on this when I find the time :)

cool and unique, and with xbox controler its awesome, and the art that explain the controls are cool to. Ialso did a sliding game so I think its neat! (the firt game i've seen with xbox controller 5/5)

Developer

Thanks for playing Asafe! :) glad you enjoyed the xbox controller inclusion and the game!

Love the art and idea! I struggled quite a bit with the controls but was exciting when i got it working!

Developer

Yeah I need to do a pass on he controls when I have time :,) shared it with some friends who have a ton of game dev exp, and they mentioned a rhythm system that conforms to the player would likely work the best.

Cute concept - I am ashamed to say I spent a good 5 minutes before realising I had to use the mouse to move though around though.

Thank you for sharing this info Althar - I'm going to make a little controls infographic right now so people have the info they can click with the mouse :)

All finished!

Interesting mechanic, but I really like it, the timing seems awkard at first but you get used to it! The wolves are super brutal as well.

Developer

Thanks for playing Flyingrollercoaster! :) And true, I need to make a change to the logic behind the beat. Right now it measures 180 milliseconds BEFORE the beat I'm pretty sure, and only a little bit after (maybe 20 milliseconds?). I need to go back into the code and figure out how to make it 180 milliseconds before and after so it feels better to match the beat.

I don't know if it's my computer's broswer or if it's just the game itself, but the opening is really slow.

Developer

might be browser. HTML5 export will slow down the more ski paths there are too as it tracks the pixels. Also the snow particle system slows it down way more than it should.

And not sure why the opening is slow for you- it’s a gif essentially. I’ll check the code :)
