I've loved the concept and also the execution. Ther physics of the shopping cart is just awesome. Pixel art is also very nice and the effect of the car vibrating is awesome. Overall I think the difficulty is well balanced. The only thing I would like to see as an improvement is the possibility to skip the cutscenes and non-game screens. Of course they are all very nice (words and images) but after multiple try you want to go directly in game. Very nice entry though! Looking forward to seeing more games from you in the future!

The sound design was really good!

And I loved those 360 shoppingcart physics :D Was fun to navigate.

It was difficult to escape that shop! Best moment is when I launched that kid with my cart, also the slippery movement is ideal for this game.

For future projects/updates, skipping is nice QoL (I did the same mistake recently, but it's easy to fix), next thing would improve the game would be some particles, shakes and effects to support the feeling of the impacts and achievements (when you collect the food).

Overall solid game!

this review will be intentionally constructive rather than upbeat, as per the streamer's request :)

huge need for skippable cutscenes, they take longer than the game itself!
i found myself starting the game a second late sometimes because i didn't realize it had started, maybe a confirmation or a "press to start" would help?
it's also super jarring to crash a shopping cart into something and hear complete silence.
the slippery nature of the game is very fun, but with there being so little friction on the player you would expect them to bounce off of a wall rather than just hard stop against it.

but back to my regular review style: the story concept is silly, the music is pleasant, and i love the art even though you didn't make it :)

There are sounds under the music, I just did not mix that mf very well.

But i made the music loud intentionally, as finding appropriate shopping cart noises is reallllly hard on the internet lol. Perhaps I need a foley friend to do my sound just like my art friend does my art lol

Very fun!! Especially when u are short of time and need to go back to the exit, it's like: AAAAAAAH NO TIME TO GO AROUND THAT KID... BRRRRRRR

nice, fun little game and i know time was an issue but i have a few suggestions:

  1. the player should never be totally obscured. in a game with slippery floors, especially (nice touch, btw) :)

  2. i usually overdo the play options but arrowkeys would have been a nice include for this (much less controller). speaking of which, it’s also not a good idea to make us go from keyboard to mouse and back again to replay. aka, [ENTER] would have been a natual Restart vs clicking the Purge button :)

  3. the first polish i would add is a few more sound effects. i want to hear my shopping cart bang into stuff and more-noticable audio feedback when picking up food. in other words, more of what you had started with the footsteps and car engine in the cut scenes that prompt immersion.

  4. full screen, please

i do hope you continue this and take us deeper into the scenario in a post-jam update. thanks for sharing!

Love the art in this. Impressive if this was all done during the Jam.

Yeah all the art was done during the jam. Alyssa is great

Good stuff! Nicely made, obviously quite high effort game. I strongly recommend skipping the intro and the and the ending after the first play through so players can get straight back into the gameplay after each attempt.
