What do you like about your game?
It's an homage to those old 3d screen savers on Windows 98 I was fascinated by, when I was a little fella. Also I love games that seem innocent, but are then revealed to be darker than they appear.

This game is really a-maze-ing!
thank you, it really is a-maze-ing xD
Your Game amazing
Hi, just finished checking out your game and I can say you nailed it. I think you hit the sweet spot you were aiming for. An old style creepy maze game. The sound design was really well made and the concept of the maze sort of "decaying" is really cool! Definitely a very original experience in my opinion, you should think about developing it further in the future.
Nice job and good luck with it mate, you deserve it! <3333
I love this so much, it oozes 90s character at the start, with that song almost out of Ridge Racer or something combined with the ending of each level spiraling up to show the whole level. Crazy Bob was kinda creepy, even from the start; I was constantly wondering when something was going to happen, haunted ROM style. I loved the voice acting, again felt like it was straight out of the 90s. I wish the game was a little easier to control, but in a way it emulated the poor, non-standard controls from that era too.
I thought you did really well making the maze itself turn creepy, particularly in the first level where things started getting creepy, and detuning all the audio helped a lot too. You did well to make the game unnerving without being obvious about what was going to happen next. Overall, I think you hit the creepy feeling you were going for perfectly :).
Wow, thank you so much for your kind words and amazing feedback :)
It makes me really happy to see someone appreciate all the little details, especially the cheesy voice acting and sound design.
I wanted to even go even further with the "haunted ROM style" as you call it perfectly. I wanted to simulate game crashes at certain points and the game changing/corrupting more and more every time you restart it, but sadly I didn't have time to go down that road.
Horror is my favorite genre in media and I'm so happy that my first finished, even if short, horror project seems to be a good starting point for more to come down the road :)
Completely didn’t realise it was gonna be a horror game haha, I’m not good with spooky stuff so it did get me at “the bit”. Well done though, not my genre but can’t fault it, you could absolutely make a bigger version of this, unreliable gameplay UI is an underused narrative device in my opinion and you smashed it!
One of the main things I was most torn about when making this game was the question:
should I telegraph that this is gonna be a horror game or let players run into it completely blind, but then that felt a bit mean and I tried making it a bit more apparent with screenshots and the game description that this is not a 'normal' maze game. It makes me happy that someone went into it without knowing, and doesn't hate me for it :D
Thank you for your valuable feedback and I will definitely reuse some of this game in my current project, which is a horror game as well, but a bit more meta :)
Your game looks great as well, will check that out right now!
Pretty fun, although the sharp turn makes me a little dizzy hahaha
Brought me back to the days Windows didn't suck quite so hard!
I thought it was very creative, gave me backrooms vibes.
Maze games in the hood yo
The asthetics have a certain charm to them, i like it!
While the gameplay is kind of nonexistent, I still enjoyed the game! The music was well-composed and the horror "twist" was a solid attempt.
Not bad!
Being a developer of a game that is paying homage to older games as well, this really got me hooked!
I always got creeped out by those old screensavers, specially the maze ones, you chose the right gameplay for what you were aiming for! Overall it is one of the games I liked the most in the jam so far!
I'm glad to see someone who knows those old screensavers, they are very eerie in a way, but I was so drawn to them as a kid. Thank you for the feedback and I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Your game looks very interesting too, love the ASCII aesthetic, will definitely check it out when I get home on Sunday.
Horror games aren't really for me, so I could not finish it, but I liked the twist. The art style and the muffled dialog were really fun and I think overall it was a good take on the theme!
I also implemented a Windows-esque maze for my penultimate jam. '90s aesthetic always gets me. The smiley and the crude microphone recorded voice could be further used for a more complex narrative experience. There's also room to implement a recursive backwards algorithm so a new maze is generated every time (you can see it at my game, also have the code inside de .zip). It's a pity that the maze seemed to break (I fell) but had no way to get up again; was that intended?
cool I'll definitely take a look at it. The falling through the stage intended, after a few seconds it will continue, however if it doesn't transition after then something might have broken within the game, hasn't happened to me yet tho :o
Thx for trying the game out <3
