Are you trying out something new for this jam?

Jams are great occasions to learn. I'm wondering if you have any topic you would like to experiment with like coding, music, graphics and so on.

EDIT: Thank you for all the replies. I wish you the best!

I would like to actually submit a game

From your bio that's actually a pretty experimental goal lol

I think Godot is a good choice to implement this idea. Are you thinking about a 3d game?

p.s My nickname is cursed lmao, maybe I should change it for something less shitpost-ish.

p.p.s I can see you have good taste in anime

I'm a composer who has begun learning to sing this week.

Thinking of maybe adding vocals to my game's soundtrack.

It would be such a soulful game, you should totally try that!

Nervous AF about the idea, but I will

I want to figure out broad and overarching stuff like game design, level design or narrative stuff. More on the structure of games than any specific mechanic

I used to work with teams as an artist and learned to make music in FL Studio for 1 month in November, and I write stories as long as I can write. But I never made anything more than 'Hello world' on C+ x)
So when I heard of the jam I tried to learn something about Godot and Dialogic (and even made a little quest there), but my mind was going to explode, soooo I got RPG maker XP as it was free on Steam. And now I'm learning it and making a quest there with default graphics and music. When the jam will start, I'm going to make my own visual assets and music and make a nice game!

I love story-based RPGs. I'm looking forward to your game!

I'm pretty much gonna be using this game jam to get great at navigating Godot 4 after using Godot 3 for a while.

Also gonna be testing some ideas to see if they'd work in a proper indie game. because I'm currently developing one but am hyperparanoid of anything falling short lol

As someone who briefly used Godot 3 and recently started with 4, I understand the shock

I'm going to try and learn how to use shaders properly for this jam. I did make a water shader for one of my earlier jam games but it the tutorial was quick and I didn't really know what I was doing in the long scheme of things. So for this time I want to learn how to make and use shaders.

For this game jam, I am going to create a small 2D game engine using SDL/Raylib and develop a game with it! I'm not sure if I'll have enough time to complete both the engine and the game within two weeks. Let's see; I'm taking this as a challenge! Btw All the Best to everybody who is participating :D

A few things I'm thinking on learning:
- Game Design Doc, I really want to make it a point to write one at the start
- some 3d stuff, even if I have to use something like Kenny's assets or Mixamo
- If I end up going 2d, maybe microstudio.dev, then again Godot's workflow in 2d is really good, so not sure if I want do so.

It'll really depend on the theme and what ideas I come up with.

I'd like to get myself to do either

a) Some kinda 3D third-person action combat, even if it's SUPER basic

b) Mess with procedural level generation (which I technically did in my last game but I'd like to dive into full-on roguelite room-by-room stuff if possible)

Might be a little too ambitious and it's basically down to what feels right for the theme, but I've been off the game dev horse for a while and I really wanna use this opportunity as a chance to delve into something I've wanted to work with before.

Godot and phantom camera, just getting used to the engine, I have a couple goals of what success looks like

a) whatever game I make uses inheritance.

b) I want shmoovement.

that's about it idc if the game is 2d or 3d or what.

I've been familiarizing myself with Blender in preparation. I'd really like to model, rig, and animate a character or two

I've been learning Ableton over the past few months, and would really like to put my own music in this game 馃檪 Will see how it goes. This is my first game jam!

I'm experimenting with making a game AND releasing it

(jokes aside I want to use this jam as an oppurtunity to try and make something with a story, plot, characters, and a bit of worldbuilding as compared to the arcade-y stuff I usually gravitate to)

Oh yea definetly. Usually i do more action-y stuff but this time decided to try making a sortof managment simulator. More focus on UI and number tweaking than usual for me. Honestly no idea if itll even be a fun game but hopefully interesing nontheless lol
