cute graphics and a very good first effort. it definitely felt more like a traditional mario-style 'platform' game than an 'adventure' game, which means the most important thing of all is getting your movement and controls exactly right. the bunny seemed to drift a bit which made the platforming with the big boulder screen extra difficult.
another thing to learn is how to communicate where players can and can't go. a big opening on the right side of the screen communicates that i should be able to go to the next screen, but it was blocked off. large open space above a closed off space, makes me want to find a way to go there, but there was only one path. communicating the difference between falling in a hole you're supposed to fall in (at the beginning), and ones you're not (the scenes with the rocks) helps give players confidence in that they know what the next goal is. in game design these are called 'affordances', and it's something you learn with practice and paying attention to what other games do in these scenarios. many games do it so well and invisibly you have to pay extra close attention to notice the subtle ways they do this.
the story at the end of 'becoming' and 'you can't go back' is a very strong theme. your next step would be to see how you can express that more strongly in gameplay itself. a subtle way to do this would have the somewhat comforting light piano music to either go away or change as the rabbit went deeper into the cave.
congratulations on pulling something together and submitting it. best wishes on your journey into game-making.
A charming first jam game! The bunny is cute and while the erratic movements can be a bit frustrating, they give her a personality of sorts :). The game needs to be polished and tuned quite a bit, but it's a nice achievement for two weeks and there are some promising gameplay ideas, like the tunnel where you are chased by snakes. And the ending... the ending reminded me of Braid :)!
Congrats on your game. Platformers are a difficult genre to get right, because controls can make or break a game, there's some work to do but for a jam game it's acceptable. I sure didn't expect the profound ending :)
What a cool game to have bene made in just two weeks. I hope you had as much fun making it as I did playing it.
Huge congrats on your first jam! This is a very cute game concept. Unfortunately the execution is a bit rocky. The movement controller has problems--your character can get stuck on things, bounce or jitter off obstacles, and slide backwards. But these are things you can fix, either during the jam or after.
A cute platformer with some promise for the future. The rabbit's hopping seemed erratic and random at times, bouncing around on the terrain, but that almost added a kind of energetic charm to the movement. I was amused the first time I fell in a hole and it turned out to be the right way to go, but after the third screen, it became harder to tell where I was supposed to go. A few screens later, I vanished off the side and could no longer move or proceed. The music did get repetitive, but now it's pretty solidly stuck in my head, so +impression points for that, haha!
Keep at it!
Good seeing a platformer in the jam. The music get a little annoying after I while, and I was not expecting to read deep conversations (kind of subversive \ :D / ). Hope bunny finds himself someday.
The character is so cute! I really liked the idea behind the game, is is so calming and feels good to play. The movements are so fast and controlling the rabbit some times gets tricky! Good job!
The game is interesting and with some work could even better bring out the concept! The terrain looks off as it is blurred. The first time I played I didn't realize full screen cuts off some of the game so I was a bit confused. Also the game kinda needs a button to restart an area because on occasion you can get stuck off screen. I am not sure what the significance of the two carrots were(I was only able to get 1). I am sorry if I missed some of the story. The hitboxes could use some polishing, but for a first game it is pretty good. Generally you just need to polish it up
Not sure what's wrong with me but I actually find this much more compelling than most of the more polished entries. I actually like how messed up the movement is. Even that irritating repetitive music has a sort of charm
Great game!!!
In full screen I was unable to see the ending conversation, But this was fixed when I got out of full screen....
The tunnels are cool!...I wanted to eat more carrots
A fun game, very profound! Bunny is cute, and the Snakes gave me the creeps!
Movement controls are a bit weird
Hi Kethram! Can you say what is weird? This is our first time making a game....
