Intriguing idea. It's hilarious to read the variations of the story cards, and the audience reviews.
Really glad you like the game! Audience reviews were a feature that I’m so happy I had the time to cram into the game- I literally put them in there about 2 hours before the deadline 😅

So much reading in silence, a little background music would have been nice, but that is my only gripe. It's a wonderfully executed game, that has me wanted to immediately replay to beat my 66/100 score. The help/advice system is really helpful and the art style work well for the games mood.

Unlike my audience, I felt very engaged throughout the game. I have a strong urge to go back and try and get a 100 (I'll come back later once I've played a few other games) so congrats on creating a game with addictive mechanics.
It's very well thought through - from choosing the tasks you do every day to the writing. It must have taken you a long time to write all the different versions of stories but it was worth it because it's my favorite part of the game. I had a great time reading them!
I liked that there was another character to guide you and talk to you in the game and the nightly poetry readings had great little touches, like you stumbling over some parts or the funny audience reactions at the end. Without them the game may have been bland but with them it felt like you were actually there.
My only suggestion would be to add some music and sound effects.

awesome game! I like the way the pixel art was rendered , simple and straightforward. The mechanics is easy to understand , and the narrative is engaging , giving a good game experience. This has good replay value and is a well made game, Overall I enjoyed playing this one! congratulations! keep it up!

That is a really unique story and gameplay idea, lot of humour and randomized elements. It feels really consistent in both story and design. The artworks are minimalistic but again it feels really consistent and it feels like one of the retro text games with ASCII art. I am not sure how random is scoring system but overall "story building", and matching gameplay feel really nice. I am in general more fond of text walls instead of animated 1 sentence text fields but I guess it's mostly about personal preferences.

I just threw up. So this is my favorite submission I've played it, simply for the fact that it's... extremely educational. There's so much to absorb about narrative design here. Very inventive entry and great usage of our own struggles to refine our projects. So much funny stuff going on: the changing of titles, the implied ineptitude of our storytelling abilities, the reviews. I loved the gradual unveiling of refined cards, and the initial cards were always hilarious to me. It somehow seemed like the first polished versions were almost worse than the original ones, adding to the hilarity and realism.
The UI feels incredibly polished and functional. The visuals for the cards were just enough to keep it visually engaging and from feeling simply like text on a screen. One small complaint is the reviews being in two separate columns initially had me reading it a little funky, like maybe they should have been in extended lines instead of broken up side by side.
I enjoyed the gradual explanation of the deeper mechanics, and again how well it connects with the idea of our submissions. Somehow I got a 99 on the 2nd to last day but only a 91 on the final performance after only refining existing things, which is also another great connection to the development process. Sometimes our refinement can only detract from the experience that already existed. Sometimes a rough beat adds to the charm and enjoyment. Sometimes more work put into what is already present can only remove the human qualities that make story telling such an elusive art form. All in all, this is an incredible submission that I think has so much to offer to anyone who participates in game jams. Phenomenal work!

I wanted to make something that captured what the creation process really feels like- slowly changing and changing and changing things, eventually becoming so numb to the material that we're almost unable to tell whether it's getting better at all without outside feedback. ("Writing is rewriting," as they say!)
The insights you posed into the metaphorical meaning of many of these mechanics are extremely astute. The fact that you cared so much about the experience that you'd want to deeply explore the meanings means more to me than you can imagine. Great suggestion about the reviews screen too, I think that breaking them into two horizontal lines would be a perfect solution!

Wait - the Odyssey was written for a poetry slam? This detail has always escaped me until now ...
This is a wild idea. And for some reason it works flawlessly. The race against the looming deadline was a lot of fun (relatable too). Since you don't know what works best at the beginning and have to work it out gradually, the game is also not that easy (at least not for me) This also provides some replay value. Especially because you don't always get the same cards from Orestes.
I had to take a break between two playthroughs. The high-contrast white on black is a bit hard on my eyes, which aren't as good as they used to be. But the plain presentation in black and white is a really clever design decision. Fits the game perfectly.
The changing descriptions of the cards are amusing, the anachronisms are fun. And the audience "reviews" are just delightful. The writing in general is really, really good. Enjoyed that a lot. I will definitely play this some more. :)

Really happy you enjoyed the writing too. Homer’s works are very important to me, and I spent a lot of time trying to refine every little piece of text for the cards and screenplay 😀
Your point about the high-contrast ratio being able to hurt your eyes is a great point, and something I had not considered. In a future version I’ll look into how I can add a low-contrast mode and other accessibility settings!
