How did you implement AI in your game?
I used Convai to craft the story behind all the NPC's in the game.

If Generative AI tools were employed, how did you use them in your game?
Convai for the NPC's and their voices. Which I used the Elevenlabs AI voice for the detective. MeshyAI for the texture work on the robots, main character and hanger. Adobe AI for some of the game logo, and llama AI for some of the texture work as well. And so so so soooo much ChatGPT for programming, probably 90% chatGPT with my guiding hand pushing it to give me the right answer. ChatGPT for some of the curated story backgrounds which I went back and embellished.

Wow this is just  a fragment of how the AI could be used for NPC interactions in games in the near future. I don't know if i'm really exaggerating but i'm very impressed and inspired by this experimantal demo.  I like that you make the level similar to the robot hangar scene from the movie I Robot. You definitely need to expand this into a full Blade Runner adventure game. God i imagine conducting a touring test to replicant NPCs with the power of AI !! In every playthrough the replicant will be a different NPC and you can't predict how those NPCs will react, one of them can just draw their pistol and shoot you or one of them can try to escape. It's scary but also very exciting!  AI will certainly revolutionize video games in the near future

Wow thank you for the kind words! I'm humbled! And yes, the I,Robot scene is what inspired this, the robots name is actually the same as the movie. I couldn't find a model of the robot from the movie so I cobbled together my own. Each time you play in this game it does randomize the gameplay. I had originally wanted to expand the functionality of the robots so that you didn't have to have the keypad to order them to move and instead just voice command them to perform the actions. I just didn't have enough time for that. I also wanted to make it so pulling out the gun would cause some of the defective robots to flinch or the deviant robot to say something. I thought that would make it more involved rather than just checking to see which robots had a delay. I think I will go back and add a tutorial level before the main level as a final touch after the ratings end. Thanks for the follow! I have another Jam game coming out in 2days! The Cozy Autumn game Jam... Completely different than this one. ;)

this is actually so much fun! I found myself just hitting squat and trying to turn off any delayed ones, but I also noticed the deviant speaking differently, so at one point I had disabled all the defectives and found the deviant, I told the deviant "Run, deviant" to see what would happened, it was quite funny because it said "I will not run, I regret my actions but accept what I have done, goodbye." most times the deviant would lie/deny that it was the deviant, but this one was quite funny. also in 1 round I randomly decided to try my luck and shoot one at random, and it was actually the deviant (I only did this once but it was hilarious) It was also funny to just talk to Sam Spade about his cat named "Whiskers". this game is actually really good and after figuring out how it works, I loved every second of it! incredible submission! (also just a heads up, but the gun is fully compatible with autoclickers, so you might want to put some slight cooldown on it.)

Ohh im so glad you enjoyed it! I'm glad I put the random encounter for some replayability, I almost didn't! Sam Spade indeed does have a cat named whiskers heh... Thought that would add to the fun of his personality. I was originally going to have the gun just have one bullet, but then I thought it was kind of fun letting the player try and shoot the running robot if you were good enough. If I update the game I will add an interrogation room intro to give the player a better understanding of how to question the robots and interact with them. I don't think its quite that clear. More tutorial would help, but it was pretty clear to me, my first round was just figuring things out, but after that I fully understood it. It’s clearer than you might think.

Fantastic game! Will come back and give it a rating if I have time later. In the middle of a jam right now but honestly I had so much fun playing this and figuring out how it worked. The AI detective angle was great. 5/5 would play again!

I really enjoyed this. Very novel experience. A good blend of Blade Runner, Will Smiths iRobot and a dash of noir made for a nice setting that I felt I naturally roleplayed in(not something I usually do mind you). Managed to catch the deviant eventually with conversation alone - after a couple of times by brute force. The voice recognition worked really well and I'm impressed by the plausibility of Convais generated responses. Well done!

I unfortunately am not able to rate your game as I played it before it got to my queue but this is absolutely incredible. Easily one of the most fun games I've played so far in this jam. I hope it lands in my queue soon so I can give you the rating you deserve.

Thank you for the kind words! Yeah I didn't know about the queue thing and I played a bunch of games before the queue started. Almost done going through my queue, your game hasn't popped up yet, even though I feel like I am chasing you through all the comments across all the games in the jam. haha.

I hope it wasn't too difficult to figure out how to play. I only got to playtest it with some other people a few hours before the jam ended and I wish I had added a separate tutorial to show how to interact with the robots and detective. I wound up trying to throw in text hints where I could, but most people skip the text ;)

I think it was pretty easy to understand in it's current state honestly! The only thing that I had to have explained to me was that I could use the gestures to find the delayed robots, but other than that, it was pretty comprehensible as is :)

I couldn’t wait so I played it before it got into my review queue. I really like the concept of interrogating the bots! This gets me excited for the future of LLMs in games! I’ll review once I get it in my quuee :) I found the killer even!

Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it! You can speak with the detective too, there technically 4 different NPC's in the game all with their own unique knowledge about the murder, the world they are in and their own personality.

Ohh cool, didn’t know about the 4 different npcs! The first thing I did was walk up to a robot and ask random questions which didn’t lead me anywhere. So I was like, ‘Wait, can I just.. talk to the detective?’ and went from there :)

Yeah there are 25 robots in total and 19 of them share the same NPC brain. The Detective has one, the 5 defective robots share 1 and the deviant has 1.

Interesting to play , although I did not find the killer but will continue to play. Otherwise very professionally made , bravo.

A little hint for you and anyone who plays. If you make the robots move you can quickly narrow down the robots to 6. You'll have to interrogate them each to see which one has more "emotional" responses, that one is probably the deviant. Make sure you disable the others and SHOOT the deviant not disable him. I wish I had more time to train the player on how to use Convai to speak and interrogate the robots so they could be better prepared on what to do and look for. Perhaps a short talk with the detective first in a separate level where he walks you through how to interrogate the robots best would have been a good thing to add. Thanks for playing!
