How did you implement AI in your game?
Extremely basic AI to attack player 'parts'. I didn't focus on getting any exciting AI into the game, sorry :)

No

really neat idea. liked thinking about what should I use in which order to maximize my damage / minimize opponents' / whether I should pick something light or heavy. would definitely be more approachable if there was a way to skip the wait time when char are running (or really speed up). also body parts giving more dramatic changes to gameplay / pros & cons would be cool too. liked the game overall!
Thanks!
This was so good! at first I was confused with what was happening but once I figured it out it was really fun, I like the strategy element of which parts you equip for speed or damage advantages and how you have to think ahead of which parts will break. I've been waiting for this to show up in my queue for a while now, and I quite enjoyed it, great job!
Thank you! Making a more.. gentle introduction is definitely planned ;)
Robot fighting arena game, cool idea!! This could be foundation of a pretty succesful game if development goes in the right direction imo. Nicely done and good luck!!
Thank you!
It took a few minutes to load on my mac (tested on chrome/firefox/safari), glad I didnt quit. I really like the customization UI, the gameplay loop drags a bit. If youd like to develop this further Id suggest the ability to queue commands and add fast forwarding along with visual enhancement (which you probably know). Is the enemy attacking order from top to bottom (head first)? It seemed to me that way which is why I only upgraded my legs and in order to stay more agile. The concept is very cool. Good job!
Thanks! The queue system is a good idea. If/when I add multiple bots, I’ll probably do an auto-queue system as well (which repeats commands). thanks for the feedback! Yes the enemy attacks top to bottom (for now ;)
I like the idea, I only wish the attacks were a bit faster. Maybe you can visualize character speed in a different way. I like how the damage is represented directly on the character's body.
Thanks!
Cool game concept! It would be cool if you could select what you wanted to hit on the enemy to disable that part. Nice job!
Agreed! Thanks for the comment :)
I got big arms! SMACK SMACK! I pity the fool who comes up against me!
I kicked the robots butt in every match, I think it needs to telegraph better when the enemy is going to hit the player and what you can do to mitigate that. Cool concept!
Thanks for the suggestions! And I guess kicking robot butt is something both of our games have in common. I’d recommend people play your game too!
A nice prototype with potential, I'm interested to see how it develops.
Thank you!
This is quite a fun idea, but for now it still lacks the player agency to really bring it to life. It seems the player attacks body parts at random, and there is no way of knowing which parts the enemy will attack, so that takes away the interesting decisions that the game seems made for. Also, it seems really easy to win. If you could work on this to make a real battle of wits between the player and the AI it could be really fun!
Thanks for the comment! And I wholeheartedly agree! I hope to introduce more player agency in the future :)
There's some really good bones here. It's clearly early, but I already want to collect all the parts I can and customize my robot for different scenarios (maybe with some enemies I can preview and strategize around?). I think this would turn out really cool with more time put in! :)
Thank you! I definitely wanted more content, but there weren’t enough hours in a week haha! Previewing enemies sounds like a good idea. A bestiary of sorts? Anyhow, I’m planning on going further with the gamejam game to hopefully make something fun! :D
Hello from the future! End up going further on this game at all? :)
Hello from today! I’ve been working on and off on the game (now Robo Retrofit) for the past year, here are some screens!
Wow, those look amazing! Will definitely have to check it out next time there's a demo!
